Scenario: Jedediah has been told by a mysterious source that there is someone at Karl's house who can help him obtain some rare rocket parts. Don't worry if it's a bit (or a lot) out of character for Karl to answer the phone by himself. If you win, this won't have happened anyway. Mostly these RPs are to just make sure you're not a weirdo. whee

Remember, think one page or less, and have fun. heart

Jedediah Andrews might have hated being around Gaians, but he hated talking to them on the phone even more. Nearly everyone he had ever met here was a weak, useless... happy imbecile, and although it was unbearable to be around them for too long, it was kind of fun to watch them squirm. Watch. Certainly something one couldn't do on the phone.

Still, he needed these parts. They were necessary. Jed picked up the phone and dialed the number he had scrawled on the used diner napkin on the counter in front of him. He waited as it rang, determined to be on his best behavior which, unfortunately for whoever answered the phone, wasn't very good at all.

Brrring! Brrring!

Karl looked up from his sketchpad as the loud, obnoxious noise of the phone cut through the air. He winced a little, clapping his hands over his large ears. That hurt! Why did things have to be so loud?

The phone wouldn't shut up. Karl looked around the room anxiously, unsure of what to do. Taylor was at class, his brothers were out getting lunch, and Karl was here, alone. What should he do? Taylor told him not to talk to strangers, but what if the phone was important? What if she got mad at him for not answering it? What if-

Karl grimaced, swallowing his nervousness, and finally pulled the phone off the hook. It took a bit of manipulation to keep the cord from getting snagged on his earrings, but he managed to get it to his ear.

"Uh... hello?"

This was weird. Nobody ever called the Penrose family in the first place. Why would anyone want to talk now?

"Hey." Jed sighed. This kid sounded a little young, but the criminal pressed on. Perhaps this was some sort of test. "The sparrow flies north at sunrise," he said. Wow. That sounded idiotic, but it was what he had been told he should say. Imbeciles.

"Oh. Does it?" were the first words out of Karl's confused mouth. Puzzled, he took a look out the window, but it was midday, there were no birds in sight, and he didn't know which way north was in the first place. He frowned at the phone in confusion. Who the heck was calling him to randomly discuss ornothology and migration patterns? This was a bit of his guardian's knowlege rubbing off on him, but it didn't do much good.

Oh. Wait. Something clicked in the back corners of Karl's mind. Back when he was at home and when he had wings and a tail, sometimes his owners had played a code game. They did it with videoscreens instead of phones, but the point was to say things that didn't make any sense, and then the other person would say things that didn't make any sense, and then somehow you learned something out of it. Should he say something wierd too?

"The oyster wears an excellent wristwatch on Tuesday," he added, just to be safe. That ought to cover all his bases.

Well, this had been a useless call. Obviously someone had given him bad information. Jed dragged the phone from his ear and rapped it against the table a couple of times before bringing it back up near his face.

"You haven't heard of Harris turbines, have you?" he asked. Maybe it was just the code that was faulty.

Karl winced as the loud rapping noise hit his ears. What kind of code was that??

"Um... torpedo the squid, cap'n, before the goat's cookies- wait, what?" Now the voice had said something that made sense.

Kind of.

"Harris turbines?... Um, no, I don't know what they are..." Karl felt his stomach begin to twist into a knot. He didn't know what he was doing. He'd completely messed up this whole phone call... "Should I?"

A shot in the dark: "Are they a kind of fish?"

Yeah, this was a joke. Some kind of cruel, cosmic joke. Why did he even bother to get up in the morning? ...IMBECILES!

"Yes," Jed said. "They're coming in through the sewers. If you want to stop the hordes, stuff some pillowcases in all your toilets and wait for my signal."

And then, he hung up.

(( Go ahead and answer or leave as-is, but that's it for me. I think I'm going to have to start instating crazy, small RPs with my actual Gaia kids. JOYOUSSSS! No pressure for actual plot movement or seriousness! Whee! heart whee ))

Poor, gullible, nervous Karl. He had chosen entirely the wrong day to pick up the phone.

Nervous and panicky as the boy was, he could be resourceful when neccecary. It spoke highly of his efficiency that, when Taylor got home five minutes later, the toilet, the sink, and the bathtub were all crammed full of pillows and blankets. Maybe the words on the phone had been just another code, but he wasn't about to take any risks.
