Sunlight permeated its way through a labyrinth of leaves to shine brightly upon the forest floor. The morning wind was crisp with a slight chill, and the seasons had turned enough to bear witness to a decrease in the insect population. A dark colored mare could be seen circling the base of a large tree, her gaze constantly being drawn upward.
Sanuye idly swished her tail back and forth, her ears swiveling in almost the same rhythm, as she contemplated her current dilema. Above her head, and just out of reach, was a delicious looking apple. It hung from a twig that was not two feet above her head, but every time the mare reared back to grasp the apple with her powerful jaws, she would miscalculate her position and miss the apple.
Snorting in impatience, and pawing at th ground with a front hoof, Sanuye gazed up at the apple once more. Positioning herself directly under it, the mare reared back. Unfortunately she had overshot and the abble bobbed harmlessly on her head. Loosing her balance she slammed onto her forlegs and whinnie in mock distress, uttering quite a few choice words which were definatly not ladylike.

A slight smile playing on his lips, Guilian stood watching the efforts of the mare from a safe distance behind her. Perhaps it was unchivalrous of him, but he always liked being able to size up potential conversation partners before jumping into anything. And besides that, the view was so nice from where he was standing.
Tilting his head to one side, he watched carefully as the strange mare rose up on her hind legs in an attempt to reach the apple; as he did so, he noted how gracefully the sun played off of her dark coat and how the orange markings, accented as they were by the golden leaves covering the the ground, made her appear to all indacations as some sort of autumn spirit.
Definitely there was potential.
Flicking back his wings, Guilian started forward just as she took her tumble, and he laughed aloud at her reaction. Maybe not very ladylike, but she definitely had spunk! "Looks like you could maybe use a hand there, Chica! Or a wing, maybe?" Winking at her in a charming fashion, Guilian gracefully reared up, fluttered up a few inches, and knocked the apple off of the branch; catching it under his chin, he dropped back to the ground and offered her the fruit.

Sanuye's head swiveled when she heard a voice behind her, close enough that she should have been able to hear the approach if all her concentration hadn't been honed in on the offending apple. Without a chance to reply, she watched as the winged stallion fluttered up, retrieved the apple, and dropped it on the floor behind her. Her brows furrowed in exasperation.
"Aye, t'would have been much more easy if I had wings like yers." Not one to turn away an offering, Sanuye put one hoof in front of her and craned her neck down to retreive the apple. Hooking her teeth into the middle, she bit down and with a juicy 'snap' the apple piece broke free. Letting go a satisfied sigh she chewed on the delicious morsel, and it was only after she had swallowed the piece that she thought of the stallion.
"Ye retrieved it for me, why do ye no' have a wee bite yerself?" Sanuye nudged the half eaten apple in his direction. "And thank ye, that rascal of an apple was determined to no' be taken down, I tell ye." The mare couldn't help but look at the stallion appreciatively. He certainly was a handsome thing.

An accent! Well, that was a slightly unexpected occurance...though not one that was unpleasant. After all, accents made even the most mundane of utterances deliciously different...and made the uncommon ones that much more remarkable.
Pondering all of this brought an even wider grin to his already pleased face, and it was with a new lightness of heart that he accepted the pro-offered apple half. "Don't mind if I do, Chica; it's the sort of day that one could certainly benefit from an apple."
Flicking the apple up with one wing tip, he crunched down on it with obvious enjoyment, breaking off a large chunk for himself before returning the rest back to the mare. "My thanks; and I can appreciate how galliing it can be to have something just out of reach, so no thanks are necessary. Always happy to do a kind service for a lady such as yourself."
With a wink, he moved to lean casually against the tree, continuing to appreciatively eye the mare. "I trust the apple is worth the effort you spent, at any rate?"

((I swear, Justin Timberlake's 'Sexy Back' would be a perfect theme song for Guilian, lmfao. And they're tempers are both 'passionate'. I just noticed that. :p))
Sanuye tried to hide her short-lived downcast features when she saw in his eyes the shock at her accent. It was true, she'd never encountered another Soquili that spoke the same way she did. Often times, it made her feel more alone than ever...
Physically shaking off those gray thoughts, the mare beamed at Guilian as he ate his share of the deliciously gleaming apple. Her gaze moved in fascination with the movements of his wings, and she didn't bother to hide the awe in which she held all Soquili with feathered appendages. It wasn't an envy, just a great appreciation of their beauty. The discarded apple remains rolled and bounced towards her and Sanuye graciously lowered her neck to hook her teeth into the soft and juicy innards before injesting the rest of the fruit. She licked her lips in delight. "Aye, the apple was plenty wonderful."
Now completely satisfied, she turned her attention back to Guilian. "Surely ye canna had anythin' out o' yer reach wi' the wings ye have." Sanuye's eyes glittered mischeviously and full of mirth. "And ye best no' be callin' me a lady, or I might be takin' offence. I do no' keep company wi' those that offend me so." With that, she pretended to walk off at a leisurley pace, and only after a minute's hesitation did she look back to make sure he was following.

((Never heard it...but I don't know if Guilian would agree. He thinks that he's a gentleman XD))
His head against the bark of the apple tree, Guilian watched as the mare polished off the rest of the apple, noting as he did so the delicacy with which she ate and the cute way that she finished off her snack by licking her lips...definitely a habit that he heartily approved of in mares! Yes, she certainly had an 'air' about her; one that he liked a great deal.
He smiled a bit at her undisguised awe in regards to his wings; as she stared, he extended one of them so that she could admire it better. Like the rest of his coat, the feathers were even and glossy, blending seamlessly into the hair of his shoulders. Even in consciousness he couldn't say that he'd ever seen a more attractive pair of wings...
But now was not a time for him to ogle his own wings; not when he had something much less familiar to ogle! "Well, back before I know how to use them properly I had issues with things being out of my reach, Chica; you might say that it was a motivation for me to actually master them. We aren't born knowing how to fly any more than knowing how to walk, and flying takes more coordination." And so it did.
At her little snark about the 'lady' comment, though, Guilian found his brow raising so much in surprise that it threatened to vanish into his mane...but in a very good way. Watching as she started to walk off, the red stallion's lips curved into a smile of sheer, unadulterated pleasure. Yes, he DEFINITELY liked this mare!
"My sincerest apologies if my words offended you, Chica; I had no idea that you took the term to be so offensive. I do so hate to know that I've been offensive, so much that it's been known to ruin my day. You will forgive me, won't you?" Smiling at her in his charming fashion, Guilian strolled after the mare; if she wanted to play around, she'd be seeing that two could play at that game! "Anything I can do to make it up, just say so."
With a suitably solemn expression marred only by the twinkling of his eyes, he caught up to Sanuye, standing beside her and looking down with a look of penitence. As he did so, he casually draped a wing over her body and gave her a hug with it...but didn't remove the wing afterwards.

Sanuye started as he draped his wing across her back, and tried to hide her pleased smile that blossomed over her muzzle. This stallion was certainly a charmer, and he didn't smother her with demands like the others that threw themsevles ungraciously at her. Acting on impulse, Sanuye moved closer and felt her hide rub against his.
"O'course I'll forgive ye. Just be sure ye don't do it again." She grinned impishly at him and pondered ideas of just how he could make it up to her. She shook her mane and gave a throaty laugh. "Nothin' comes to mind just now, but give me time. I'm sure I can think o' something."
Playfully she nipped at the side of his neck. "What brings ye to my part o' the forest?"

Feeling the mare move closer and even go so far as to rub against him, Guilian's own smile widened slightly; while the thrill of the hunt was pleasant in it's own way, sometimes it was nice to have an amenable mare who started out wanting the same thing you did.
Still, he wasn't exactly in a hurry, so beyond an appreciative look and a slight squeeze with his wing, he didn't do anything else. Yet.
Instead he merely turned his bright smile on her, eyes dancing with amusement. "Oh, I'm sure that you'll think of something in time, Chica...and I don't doubt that you'll be pleased with whatever you decide." A double entendre indeed!
"As for what I am doing here...well, not that much, really; just roaming about, hunting for amusements and all that sort of thing." Though he tried to keep a straight face, it probably wasn't hard to figure out what sort of amusements he meant! "And since you say 'your', I suppose it woulnd't be that far-fetched to assume you live here?"

Sanuye couldn't help but love the feel of his strong muscles against her side, and his wings were so soft and gentle over her back. Sunlight trickled in through the myriad of leaves, casting shadows that danced with the wind. She allowed herself a small smile when she realized their legs were walking in tandem with one another.
I've already got something in mind, she thought mischievously, but wondered what the stallion's reaction would be seeing as how they'd just been introduced for the first time. I'll be pleased wi' my decision, but will ye? Spring was in the air, or some such saying, and Sanuye definitely felt it.
Sanuye had been watching Guilian talk when she caught the underlying meaning of what he was saying. Blessed Earth! Maybe he wouldn't be offended by her attentions after all.
"Och, aye. I live around these parts. Do ye know where the forest ends around a small clearing just up North? That's where I live wi' a two-legger. He's hardly ever about, so I just amuse myself wi' explorin' all o' the forest around these parts." Sanuye slid her muzzle under his, knowing his reaction would set the mood for whatever was to follow.

As a matter of fact Guilian did know about the clearing is question; one of the advantages of wings was that one was able to cover greater distances in less time than those limited to mere walking. However, as a rule Guilian tended to avoid the encampments of the two-leggers, the sole exception being that of the two-legger whose home was the 'home base' of his herd.
Besides, the Soquili that kept company with the two-leggers tended to be much more stodgy and uninteresting than those that kept to their own devices or roamed...though every rule had it's exceptions.
As the mare raised her muzzle to nestle under his, he almost instinctively lowered his own to rub sensuously against the mare's, whuffing slightly along her jawline. However, his tone remained light and teasing when he spoke. "I see, I see. Exploring is always a pleasure, no? Finding new territories, new delights unknown to others...but surely such an existance gets lonely, no?"
Then he was tilting his head so that his black eyes met her red-orange ones, amusement and suggestion lighting them up with meaning. "Such lonliness seems as though it would be a great pity for one such as yourself to experience..."

Pleased with the simple physical gesture, Sanuye relaxed and moved slightly further from Guilian. She still walked with his wing on her back but was content enough to allow a little air to pass between them. "Och, aye. Explorin' is probably one o' my favorite things to do. It would seem like such a waste if no one took to travelin' all this land."
Sanuye thought about her days, and more importantly her nights, more often as of late and found herself thinking through that bitter emotion called lonliness. Sanuye lowered her head slightly, as well as her voice. "Aye, it gets lonely." She attempted a weak smile. "But no' everyone is up for the adventurin' lifestyle, I suppose."
She flicked her tail and sighed. "Pity or no, sometimes it canna be helped."

Amused at the gesture, Guilian allowed the mare to move away, taking advantage of the chance to trail his wingtip along her side as she did so. However, usual sensual pursuits aside he was very much attentive to what the mare was saying. He knew that the nomadic lifestyle could be a dull one for many; particularly those who had no wings to travel with or those whose wanderings were limited to the less-populated parts of the Soquili world. Obviously such was the case with this mare...
Still, he gave her a charming smile as he nodded his head. "Indeed, there are those who'd rather stay close to home and play it safe, and I suppose that such is ultimately their choice. Personally, though, there's nothing quite like the thrill of discovering something new...or someone new, as the case might be."
There he gave her a wink, his eyes conveying more of his amusement than his more reserved voice. "And I hope that it isn't TOO out of line for me to say this, but you, Chica, are a very good someone new."

Sanuye relished the feel of his wing against her and subtly rolled her body back and forth as minutely as possible, pushing his wing against her more. She thought about when she was a foal, but dropped her head when she realized once again that she had no memories of her long ago past. She didn't remember who her parents were, where she was from...although her accent gave her reason to believe home was no where near here.
Almost physically dragging herself from those dangerously hollow memories, Sanuye pressed a little closer to Guilian for comfort. "I guess I've ne'er felt as though this was me home, which be why I'm constantly on the move I s'pose. It be true that I live wi' a two-legger now," she paused, the thought alone warming her from the bitter cold of her past and felt herself smile, "and he certainly does keep me on me toes. O'course he dinna mind if I go a'wandering. If he did, I wouldna be wi' him anymore."
Sanuye nodded in agreeance with Guilian about meeting something or someone new and caught the mischevious wink he aimed her way. "Yer no' out o' line at all, lad." The dark mare rubbed her cheek against his neck. "And ye are a wonderful someone new as well."

It was certainly nice to have amenable two-leggers; Guilian had heard of those that there were those two-leggers that would tether or even confine their Soquilis to keep them around, and the mere thought of such had always disgusted him. As a species, Soquili were meant to be free, after all, not kept at the beck and call of an unrelated and (honestly) inferior species.
However, right now wasn't a time to be discussing two-legger policy, and even if he was he'd be at a disadvantage. After all, how much time had he spent with any two leggers since coming to this land? Almost none. Besides, there were much more amusing things to consider...
Chuckling his approval of her little nuzzlings, Guilian once again moved close to her, wrapping his wing over her and nibbling lightly along her jawline. "Well, Chica, since we've both agreed that lonliness is unpleasant and we're both someone new in a good way...what would you say to finding a nice cozy place where we won't be disturbed and then just...get to know each other a little better?"
