'k this just kinda came to me while I was out mowing the law. Actually many ideas come to me while mowing the law but this one kinda captured my imagination.
Now I love MMORPGs but there is very little to differentiate one MMORPG from another other than the amount of spit and polish that went into making the art of killing things for experience and money enjoyable.
However I was thinking that maybe the industry could shake up this formula by making a serial killer MMORPG.
NOw the idea behind this I think is pretty cool. THe Players in the world are all detectives but one of them chosen at random by the people making the game is trying to live the double life of a serial killer. The person can pick an MO and a prefered victim type and he would try and be as careful as possible to keep evidence against him from piling up. I think that they could probaly make a game engine that could track his actions through the crime scene and could assign places where he might have brushed up against the wall leaving fibers or where he might havetouched the wall to steady himself. And then it would be up to the detectives to take these clues and build up a case against the individual. Then after they think they have enough evidence they would take that evidence to the judge and then kinda a trial would commence with a PC being a judge and GMs from the company being the jurors. Then after the conviction or aquitall of the Player a whole new killer would be chosen.
I think that a game done like this could and would be a ton of fun. WHat do you guys think? Am I just completly off my rocker with this idea?

You, my friend, are completely off your rocker.

Though...it may work...

Wouldn't it be cool if it did work? I mean it would force people in an MMORPG to work together like they never have before.

we've been forced to work together before (if you've ever played a MUSH/MUD type game like Battletech 3030, you'd know to what degree I speak of x_x...teamwork and strategy is a requirement...heh...I remember goin out on a mission with 5 of my buddies early one morning...we were almost done claiming the area when we picked up an enemy mech headed our way. Things quickly went downhill for us as a dozen enemy mechs stormed our position. Fortunitely back up arrived in time to recover me (after I ejected x_x) and we were able to hold the enemy off for a while. We lost the post, but we managed to excape with our ship still intact sweatdrop )

Never played it. Although I've always wanted to start a Battletech campaign with my friends but we never have the ability to sit down and do a damn thing with it. For some reason my friends and I are busy busy geeks.
But I always did love Mechwarrior. In Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries I loaded a Sunder down with 4 ER large PPCs and as much armor and heat sinks as I could accomodate. Thing overheated in two shots in the snow but damn I couldn't argue with the effectiveness of the Mech. Made the center torso of a Daishi critical at max range without taking any damage. And against the light mechs it was like a bear against toilet paper.

Sounds like a good idea, although the only MMORPG I ever played was Ultima Online, so my opinion is fairly uneducated.

bah...all you people playing these 3D graphics games really miss out on content. MUD/Mush games are text based games...old style baby, and with our current tech, we can have massive games with huge battles in a relitively short period of time...

In other words...if you have some form of imagination (can see things clearly in your head) then this is the system for you...and its free =D thats the best part!
