i have a question on clothes. . .
other than ordering clothes directly from the dod website, how do you get yours?

do you sew?
if yes, where do you get your patterns?

and also, where do you find awesome deals on clothes for your dolls?

this also goes for wigs :]

and while we're on the subject. . .
maybe a few makeup tips for the other users?

well, Ive never actually ordered any clothes from DOD, but I have the ELF Ducan outfit from a split with another girl.

Almost all of my boy's clothing has been made by my good friend Andrea, who drafts all the patterns herself. She makes impecable fitting clothing...
The best deals Ive had are dealing with her. I make jewelry and things for her girl and she makes clothing for my Camine. My sis has also recieved a great deal of clothing and shoes, worth about $120+ from a friend for about $40 becuase it came free with her new doll and doesnt suit the character of the doll....

All my wigs were either default and came with the doll, or were bought from the website

Makeup tips.....do you mean for doing your own? Or for picking the right color from DoD's options to suit your doll?

As far as DoD makeup...I only like the brown option and the default.

Other than that, I do my own using pastels, acrylic and Prismacolor pencils...coating used is Testors Dullcote, which isnt as bad as people say, but it isnt as high quality as Mr Super Clear

I have a DOC but I've never ordered any clothes for him from the DOD website. I make just about all of my doll's clothes because I'm too cheep to buy them (or rather I would prefer to put all my excess moneys toward more dolls than toward doll stuff rolleyes ) Some of the patterns I've used for sewing that I've liked are the patterns by James, hosted on the DoA main site and the Undead Threads patterns (which are at www.undeadthreads.com I believe). I do usually end up tweaking them a bit though. I also knit, but I pretty much write all my own patterns where that is concerned.

I got a pretty good deal on a pair of shoes for him through Dollmore ($6 tennis shoes!)

As for wigs, I like fur wigs, so I usually hunt through DoA to find users that make and sell their own. Wicked Stichery has a wig making branch that is nice quality and low cost. For non-fur wigs I usually see what people have for sale at meetups and such like.

For DoD makeup, my doll has brown and I think it looks quite nice. Light brown is also pretty good looking if my memory serves.

To do your own, coat the head first with either Testors Dullcote or Mr. Supper Clear Matt and then use any art supplies you like so long as they have no oil or acid in them. Chalk pastels, acrylic paint, and water color pencils seem to be favorites (I just use pastel and water color pencil myself). Coat again when you're finished, and use some sort of gloss coating for anything you want to be shiny, like lips (you probably want the sort of coating that paints on, rather than sprays for this).

I don't have a DoD anymore, but when I did I bought most of my clothing off of the Den of Angels Marketplace. It's a great way to find fun stuff and to save money.

Uh... Why only DoD? Not like they're the only dolls out there.

Torn: SD13 (and possibly SD, but that might be pushing it) sized clothes would fit your doll. It doesn't matter what company makes them- as long as a size is listed, and you order the right size, the clothes will generally fit. (there are some differences between bodies, but they're all close enough that most properly sized clothes will fit most dolls.)

Most SD13 clothing fits just fine. Some pants can run a bit short, but most are good 3nodding

No, they can fit other 60cm doll clothes (SD13, Luts, Customhouse), it's just that their legs are pretty long compared to other dollies and so pants might be too short. They're pretty slender though, so other doll company's clothes should fit just fine otherwise.

The only thing they won't fit in well is shoes. DOTs have huge feet! Shall isn't too much of a problem, but the three boys are.

They are slender? That's actually very good to know. Now I'm tempted to get the outfit I've been eying at DoD for ever, as it'll probably fit my Kaibutts.

A lot of dolls have huge feet, actually.
However, Luts "SD13" sized shoes are HUGE ON MY HOUND. As in, WAY TOO BIG. As I recall Hounds have the biggest feet in the business. (And you know what they say about men with big feet... BIG SHOES!)
Also, Volks made SD13 sized clothes are too big. Um... Yeah. Volks, you might want to work on that, thanks.

Dollheart shoes fit fabulous on them! I have shoes from Luts that are great too. Just measure his foot width and length. Most sites post in the info about the product what the measurements of the inside of the shoe are...
PostPosted: Wed Oct 25, 2006 10:29 pm

I think the Luts shoes actually run a little big, as from the measurements of the shoes I got for Deimos, my Hound, it seemed like they'd just barely fit... But like I said, they're huge!
They can even comfortably go up around my U-Noss's HUGE calves!

I found a topic on DoA that gives some more good info on DoT boys & clothing:
http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91524

It's basically what we've been saying here but there might be some additional info nestled in there that we haven't already mentioned.

If you don't have an account (I'm not sure if you need one to read it?) let me know and I can copy & paste the replies~

I own a DOC U myself. I find the Luts Mini Fee clothes fit him quiet well ^_^ So he and Dante (Mini Fee Chiwoo) share clothes.

I got Izuri's outfit from ebay. I made sure to ask the seller if it was going to fit him or not first.

Im planning on attempting to sew some outfits but I need to learn how to make patterns or find some somewhere.

Im a Bleach fan, so I mentioned on DoA, that I wanted to attempt make a Uryuu costume after I got Izuri. I got a reply saying that someone was making an Uryuu cosplay costume for a friend and that she/he would size down the pattern for me so I could make it for Izuri. People are so nice when you have a dollfie. xd

Ive only gotten one other thing on ebay besides the outfit and that was an $11.00 fur wig. I just ordered it so I havent gotten it yet. If you keep checking you'll probably find something nice for a decent price on there. And I havent ordered clothes, wigs, accessories, ect.....from any other websites yet. So I dont know what has the best prices.
