The RD crew got to see something no one should ever have to see (beside Winnie the Pooh getting shot, that is). They got to see their future selves. Come to think of it, I;m not sure if we should have had to see that either- their future selves were pretty...I can't even think of a word to describe them!
Would you want to see your future self?
What do you think your future self would be?
What would you like your future self to be?
Now for a time travel conundrum. If you see your future self, then you might try to change things to change your future self. Rimmer managed it. But is it possible to change your future? Is your future just one possible future, or is the future what it is, and not open to change?

Why are you asking theese big life changing questions?
In a way a would like to see my future self. But not meet her and talk to her. My future self would be a person that enjoys the simple thing in life. I guess that won´t change. About changeing the future. I don´t really think that is possible. Because your future self has allready done those things. So if you do some changes nothing would happen.

Stingdragon Why are you asking theese big life changing questions? . Until something new comes out, like the long awaited RD movie, there isn't much new to talk about episode-wise or character-wise. So I;m just trying to think of new ways of looking at what we already have.

Does not mean that they are the ones from your time line. Remeber the Holly Hop Drive? They went into a parallel universe. The so called future self could easily be from one of them as they are human after all.

Would you want to see your future self?
I wouldn't mind meeting myself from the future. It'd be fun.
What do you think your future self would be?
I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to end up as, so it's just as likely that I meet a bag lady as a president.
What would you like your future self to be?
Not a president or a bag lady, or a mother. Other than that, I'm open to suggestions. smile
Now for a time travel conundrum. If you see your future self, then you might try to change things to change your future self. Rimmer managed it. But is it possible to change your future? Is your future just one possible future, or is the future what it is, and not open to change?
Well, seeing as how traveling back in time is so highly improbable as to be considered impossible, I don't really think that it's possible to change the future because the future doesn't exist yet. You can't change something that doesnt exist. Even if you could change your own future, it would become a paradox at best. The future is what it will be, regardless of what people may wish otherwise.

Aragosnat's theory: "Just because you met your future selves. Does not mean that they are the ones from your time line. Remeber the Holly Hop Drive? They went into a parallel universe. The so called future self could easily be from one of them as they are human after all."
Very interesting twist! So if parallel universes do exist, is the future one of many options which all exist, but only one of which we experience? That's deep.

Would you want to see your future self?
It depends on how far into the future we're talking. If you mean me in five or ten years, NO. If you're saying me in about 30 years, okay, I'd do it. But if you want reasons you've come to the wrong person. xp
What do you think your future self would be?
A writer, editor, and artist. Also possibly Buddhist. I've been thinking about it a lot lately...
What would you like your future self to be?
Successful and happy. 30 years from now I'll probably be on a sailboat or living in some random tent in the desert. I aspire to be a nomad, so.
But is it possible to change your future? Is your future just one possible future, or is the future what it is, and not open to change?
Yes and no, but not necessarily in that order. I believe in the theory of infinite universes, which means that any possible choice I could have made or will make is worked out in some timeline/dimension somewhere in the universe. If I make an attempt to change my future self, I will simply be diverting my path to another dimension. So in a way, yes I can change my future self - but then, not really, because that person already existed. I was merely aligning my present self with their future path. Does that make sense?
