Ok, so this is an exact copy of my old quest thread >>; but I'm just putting it here so other people who want to take a shot at the norse mythbase can decide how to go about it and suchlike cuz.. mitsu's kind of involved. BUT don't think that I'll bite your head off if you want to do something that may involve her or something - I'm quite willing to plot with questors and suchlike biggrin ... yeah, anyway, here's my old quest ENJOY.

After who knows how long.. um.. Krista offered me Aylana and Lucien's child. T__T heart So, um, yah, this thing is totally completed. Thanks so much to everyone who's supported me through all this time.. and and um... I'm still too frazzled to really say anothing more coherant, so.. THANK YOU SO MUCH OMG +DIE+

....I'll start editing everything else when I stop JITTERING. +smacks self+

First things first.. yes, I've restarted my quest for Mitsu. Why? [Because Jiora sucks COUGHCOUGH]

More honestly, though.. Mitsu's a live character to me. Her concept's been sitting in my head for so long, waiting to be brought to life, and I have so many hopes and plans for her -- she could never die to me. Her concept, out of all my ideas for pets and currently existing ones, is the one that frightens me most [no, seriously.. I scared the crap out of myself once thinking of plotlines ahahahaha o_O;;] but pulls me in all the same.. And I want to share that with all of you. That's why.

.... ohman ohman ohman. don't ask me where that came from. I get wordy sometimes. XD; in all, yes, I want to bring Mitsu to life.

To any of you coming in from the forum, I'm not questing for an item or gold, but a Fa'e, drawn by the ever-talented Anya! XD The community is kept alive by the vivid characters and friendly people that are in the thread. Stop by sometime ^^

Also, I don't accept donations. They're not really needed... I don't mind people flinging stuff at me [extra money, yay!], but if you're giving me an item specifically for my quest, I don't think I'll need it. No, I don't know how exactly I'll get a Fa'e, but I think I can do it without taking money from other people. XD; Call it pride.

Continue for more information~

06/12/04 - started lurking at fa'e (the day Nyoka turned teen)

07/27/05 - restarted quest!
08/18/05 - updated Mitsu's concept a bit.
11/10/05 - revamped mitsu's personality and history ^__^ [HUGE WHITE SPACE ROFLCOPTER.]
05/24/06 - o lawd I haven't updated in, like, ever. Added some more art FINALLY and I've reworked mitsu's strengths and personality sections a bit. Also, you might notice the music section I added a while ago 3nodding Poll's been reset in light of the new updates! P.S. if you're here for a commish, please scroll your way down to the randomness post~

About Mitsu

Information about my Fa'e concept; Angie
Concept: Valkyrie (Old Norse: valkyrjur, singular: valkyrja); from Norse Mythology
User Image

Name: Mitsuoujo. [I was playing around with words and it stuuuuck.. I would change it but I can't see Mitsu not being called Mitsu @_@]
Gender: Female.
Appearance: It all depends on how I get her, really [IE, who her parents would be 'cuz there's sure not gonna be any more first-gens] -- but what I've imagined her to look like is a short girl with sleek black hair to her shoulders, slightly messy.. Fair skin but with a faint glow to balance it out, and deep purple eyes. She also has white wings. She might also grow feathers on the sides of her head during her teen stage or so, which would grow into head-wings (detail: the feathers are a lasting effect from wearing the valkyrie helm so long in her kid stage -- some of the feathers from the wings on the helm were left behind. this also means some of the effects from wearing the helm -- heightened awareness and so on -- remain through the headwings.. though I'm still debating on it x_X)
Strengths: Strong sense of justice [in her kid stage, at least]. Knows a bit of battle tactics and how to fight with her halberd from her past life [or, at least, Sacnite teaching her how to fight all over again]. Lightweight, so she can move quickly and has fast reflexes.
Weaknesses: Mitsu tends to judge situations a little too fast, and also labels people 'bad guys' and 'good guys' upon first glance; it can take a lot to make her change her views. She's also easily flustered, which is.... not very good in the middle of a battle.
Personality: Let's see, a quick stage-by-stage.. well, Mitsu would be a bit of an introverted Fa'e (through all her stages, really). Why? In her baby and toddler stage, she'd be very confused and scared - not only can she hear dead people screaming in her head for help but she can see ghosts walking around the 'living' plane. The line between the living and the dead for her is very blurry.. so, she ends up crying a lot (poor Angie, she'd have no idea why) and then falling eerily silent. With other Fa'e, though, she'd be a little more comfortable, knowing that they're less likely to go "HAY GUESS WHAT I'M DEAD" on her. Plus, they might be able to understand why she's so scared/sad.. On the other hand, she'd be a lot.. well, happier as a kid, and more willing to talk to people. Her powers would be sharper at that point, so she would be able to differ between the living and the dead more easily. As a teen, she'd probably mellow out a lot more and start to learn more about why people do the things they do. There's reasons for all of this, but I have the feeling I'm going to jinx myself somehow if I write about my ideas for growth quests in detail.. crying

But anyway.. Having her idea of what a perfect person is, she's very careful in trying to maintain that picture; kindness, patience, reliability, and empathy is all just part of her act. When this picture is challenged, or her defenses are dropped for just a moment, Mitsu flees and later pretends it didn't happen. In this way, she's subconciously making an attempt to redeem herself from Hrist's lives.

Mitsu tries to make herself look as innocent as possible, even to the point of making herself look clueless, because she thinks it's 'wrong' that she knows why people kill each other and why some girls wear such short skirts. These are all things that she didn't want to know in the first place, so she tries to block it out by ignoring them as best as she can.
Weapon: An old halberd, haunted by a ghost of a girl named Sacnite. Sacnite watched her father make the weapon and stole it shortly afterwards, and was sealed into the halberd by an enchantment placed upon it. The weapon has been passed through many warriors' hands, including Hrist's father and Hrist herself.
Powers: Mitsu tends not to use her powers unless she's called to a dying spirit.

Mild telepathy/empathy: Every Valkyrie is capable of this. It's more so they can hear the dying person's call and judge the purity of their soul than actually feel their - or other people's - emotions along with them.
Sixth Sense: Yet another given for a Valkyrie. Mitsu can see spirits and communicate with them.
Flight: She has wings. They're .. not just there for decoration. XD
Later on in her life -- around teen stage or so? -- she might start to learn how to use basic elemental magic.. still playing around with the idea, though.

There's probably more I'm forgetting, so please bear with me. ^^;
Music:
Switchfoot - Meant to Live
Dreaming about Providence
And whether mice or men have second tries
Maybe we've been living with our eyes half open
Maybe we're bent and broken, broken..

The Cranberries - Zombie
It's the same old theme since 1916
In your head, in your head they're still fighting
With their tanks and their bombs
And their bombs and their guns
In your head, in your head, they are dying...

Garbage - So Like A Rose
Sleeping with ghosts
It's such a lonely experience
The stars are out tonight
Only they can hear you breathing...

T.A.T.U. - Thirty Minutes
Carousels in the sky
That we shape with our eyes
Under shade, silhouettes
Casting shade, crying rain
Can we fly? Do I stay?
We could lose, we could fail...
Either way
Options change
Chances fail
Trains derail...

History: [in white, if you don't want spoilers]

Long, long ago, when the World-tree Yggdrasil still stood, war broke out among the nations. There were few families that were not swept up into the conflict in one way or another - it was common for the father of the family to leave in order to serve his country as a soldier. So, one day, Hrist's father left with his prized weapon, a halberd, to protect his family.

At first, her mother was very unhappy. She would cry all day and sometimes even in the night. She didn't eat very much and she became unhealthy. The priest of a local church took care of her at first, but as the years passed it was up to Hrist to provide for her mother. She didn't mind much, even if her mother did sit out on the porch and stare with those bleak eyes out into the forest, waiting for her husband to return.

The war raged on, but the village was relatively peaceful. That didn't mean that Hrist sat with the older women in order to become more ladylike, though. Instead, she started to teach herself how to fight with various weapons from the rack that her mother never wanted her to touch. She did it because she was bored. A boy teased her for it once, so she challenged him to a duel. He lost. She didn't understand why people cried so much while they put him in the ground.

Apparently the priest got news of that incident as well, because he came to the house again one day. Glancing at her mother briefly, he told Hrist, "to make up for your sin, you will have to aid the church in helping those in poor health." So she did.

She was a good nurse. From all the time she spent in the forest training, she knew what plants grew where and what they could do to improve someone's health -- or cause it to decline. She knew how to mix them up properly so that they would work the best. Once there was a man who was so cut up by bandits that most people dismissed him for dead. She brought him back to life with the right plant paste. Both the man and Hrist were okay then.

Hrist still trained, though. She trained with a sword and a rapier. Someone once gave her a bow-and-arrow set as a gift for healing their sick child, so she trained with that too. She didn't like it as much, though, because the tip of the arrow was dull and bounced off things instead of going in them.

Her mother's health didn't improve much. She still cried and talked to shadows and stared. Hrist did her best to take care of her nonetheless. She fed her and mopped her head and set her down to sleep, like her mother used to do for her. It was just the right thing to do, and people respected her for it.

One night, after setting her mother down to rest, she came into her room and spotted a weapon on her bed. How odd, she thought to herself, and moved to put it back on the weapon-rack. She froze, though, when the flickering outline of a girl started to come into her vision.

Suddenly, she felt sick. Hrist seized the halberd and, bursting outside, flung it into the river. Wide-eyed and tense, she waited to see if anything catastrophic would happen, and then she went back inside and slept.

Often she dreamed that her father came home from the war, with medals and trophies and other wonderful things. He would hug Hrist in those great big arms and then he'd come into the house and call out for his lovely wife to give him a kiss on the cheek. And then her mother would spring up from her rocking-chair and throw her arms around him and the color would come back into her cheeks. And then the little boys wouldn't tease her and people wouldn't look at her like she was different. People would gasp and point and the priest from the church would stop coming by and saying such strange things to her. She would be so proud of her father. Then she'd really be okay.

Then Hrist woke up, and her mother was crying again.

In the afternoon, she made her way with her wooden pails to the well near the river. She needed water to make more medicine for her mother - she had a bad fever. Carefully, Hrist dipped the pail into the well and waited for the water to rush into it. She made the mistake of looking at the riverside.

A girl, faint and flickering in the bright sunshine, stood there, watching her, the halberd that Hrist had discarded the other night lying at her feet. She dropped the pail out of shock. It bubbled once or twice and slowly sank.

Please don't throw me in the river again, the girl said, looking at her wistfully. You'll make me rust, you know.

"Why should I care if you rust?" Hrist said cautiously, taking a step back.

The girl looked at her funny, then directed her gaze to the halberd at the feet. You see this? She said. Don't you recognize it?

Hrist eyed her suspiciously, then carefully made her way to the weapon. She ran her fingers over the long handle, and suddenly was reminded of the time her father left. "..Oh," she said stupidly.

If you don't mind, could you please take me back home? I don't fancy being picked up by a stranger.

So she took the halberd home with her, along with one half-filled bucket of water. She'd have to see if she could earn enough money to buy another pail. Setting the bucket of water down carefully on the porch, she stepped inside and set the halberd on her bed.

"Tell me what happened to my father," she demanded. "Now."

The girl from the halberd seemed to sigh. You're rather impatient, she said, eyeing her.

"I've been impatient for over ten years now."

So the girl-in-the-weapon told her about the war. She told her about her father and how he had been placed on the front line. She told her how their troop lost the battle, and how her father was captured. She told her about how they had tortured him in order to gain information. Then she told her about how her father had more than willingly given the information to them and then was killed.

At this point, everything seemed very surreal. All Hrist could do was stare at the apparation as her mother coughed with increasing urgency in the other room.

Her mother died that night. As the priest gave his sermon, he said she died of heartbreak. Hrist thought she died because she was foolish.

She went back to training. She trained harder and longer than she ever had before. She took her father's halberd with her every time. It wasn't uncommon for the village-women to see Hrist stagger from the forest back to her home early in the mornings. She was just so tired.

One day, in the middle of the night, her training in the forest was interrupted. Normally it was just an animal, and it wasn't that big of a deal. She killed them easily. But this time, there were strange noises that told her that she wasn't quite so lucky this time around. Hrist hid behind a tree.

They were dispatches from the enemy's army, come to scout out the village before they attacked. Her father's information probably came in handy, Hrist thought bitterly. Suddenly, a hand clamped on her shoulder and she turned around in alarm.

"Look who I found hiding in the trees," said the soldier, calling out to his comerades. "I bet we could sell her as a slave," he mused, looking her over briefly. She was getting a little annoyed. "Oh, she's got a weapon.. I bet you fancy yourself a Valkyrie, don't you, little girl?"

All it took was one swing to shut him up for good.

And then it got kind of bad. There were at least eight other fully-armed men there. She fought as best she could, but she still got hit. It didn't matter. She only killed two in the end. The rest got away.

She looked at their bodies around her, struggling for breath. It kind of felt like all the energy was seeping out of her. Like blood. She looked at herself.

Oh wait. It was blood.

Swaying dangerously, she tried to cry out to someone, anyone. She made a slight noise, then she fell over. But she was still standing.

Hrist became a Valkyrie, then. Another Valkyrie came and took her to Valhalla. Odin gave her the traditional helm and she was good to go. Her mother would have been proud of her. She had wings now. At least she still had her halberd.

So she saved warriors. She saved the good ones, anyway. She became quite good at it, even if they did try and tell her their life stories a lot. She wasn't interested in hearing people whine. She took the men to Valhalla and was done with them.

The evenings were like a new kind of Hel. The Valkyries had to serve food and mead to all the gods and warriors in Valhalla. A few of the more intoxicated ones would try and grab Hrist's backside as she went past with the horn full of mead. She had to cut off a few hands. Sadly for her, all those hands grew back the next day.

Nobody thanked her. Nobody sang songs about her. Nobody did anything that would make her happy in the least. She brought pride to her family's name in place of her traitor father, but there was nobody to recognize it now.

So one day she went back to her old village. All of it was gone. All the homes that were there, the people, a good part of the forest, gone. The missionaries that had survived must have escaped and told his general about what had happened.

Hrist stepped through the ash and dead corpses carefully, growing more and more angry at the minute. So this was what she had given her life for? This was the reason why she had spent Gods knew how many nights serving stupid soldiers food? This was what she got for bringing honor to her family's name?

She didn't like justice very much anymore.

Loki was at the gates to Valhalla when she got back. He knew all along what had happened. He talked to her, sympathized with her, and then proposed a way to rid Midgard of such filth once and for all. Hrist readily agreed.

So she threw down her helm and went away with the others to plan the Ragnarok. Everything went as planned - even though Loki was imprisoned in a cave shortly afterwards because he killed another god. The Ragnarok still came as planned. Frost giants came from the north, and the dead came up from Nifleheim to fight against the warriors from Valhalla and the gods themselves in the last battle.

Hrist fought valiantly underneath Yggdrasil, but was struck down by Odin before long. She died for the second time in her life. Hrist, however, was confident that another powerful being would save her again before long. So she released her soul into the darkness that was once Midgard, and has been waiting in that void since to be revived..

[I have a more complete version planned out, but I'm saving it for if Mitsu is reborn.]

Please note that my concept's not quite set in stone. I would love comments and critique on her so far, though XD;

Note: History is in DDDDIIIRRREEE need of rewriting, but you can get the basic jist of her past here.

Notes; Angie
First of all, I would REALLY appreciate any feedback people have for me regarding Mitsu's concept -- I want to make it as solid as possible and I'd love to hear your opinions regarding her ^__^; also, I'm paranoid, so just tell me if she's inching too close to a currently existing Fa'e's concept. um.. I think that's all for now. If you have any questions, ask away!

-- oh, and also, if you have a quest and you'd like to affiliate with me, please post IN THIS THREAD with your code and I'll add you. :3

I still can't remember what was supposed to go here.

Wow, awesome Dubettou! heart And being Aylana's daughter is such a good match - I can totally see a resemblance from the image you had in Mitsu's profile post.

Very nice weapons, too. Her second one is a bit similar to Roth's spear though, at least in the actual blade:

But if you don't mind having almost exactly the same blade shape, then I don't ^_^
