Awwwrighty! I thought I'd make my first topic here, so sorry if I screw up guys.

Reno...Okay.. I'm gunna give my view, then we can go into major discussion xD

+ Most Fans claim him to be in his early twenties, I actually think he's around 25-27.. I don't know why, but he's...I don't feel that he's that young. If your going to say he's about 22-23 wich is what most fans say, then in Before Crisis he was around 17 - 18. I think that's too young, maybe..But that's just how I feel.

+ Drunken Womaniser!?!? I think he's in a sense the complete oppisite, one scene where Rude and Reno discuss who they like, and people assume he's a womaniser...a man whore! I actually think he's the type who's all talk and no action, he's not actually in a relationship and you think with the image fangirls give him he'd have woman piling at his feet! Elena exclaims all they talk about is who they like? It gives me more reason to beleive my opnion is true. In school all boys talk about is who they like, and they don't really do much about it, so really, I'd call him the immature type with woman. (OK woah I'm going on discovery as I type this xD) Rude reminds me of the quiet boy who always hangs around with the loud-mouth who either scares the girls off, or talks about them with his shy friend - Reno can scare them off! He's a turk = shinra @_@ And if he was a womaniser, wouldn't he had been seen with another woman other than Elena in wutai??
Uuummm the drunken part, I think you all know what I'm gunna saaay.. one drinking scene = drinkaddict. Casual laid-back guys like pubs and he's one-...wait...was Reno actually drunk at that scene? Who knows! But discuss anyways...

I think you have womanizer misunderstood as man whore.....I noticed this in the first post but anyway....A womanizer is a guy who is just a ladies' man and a man whore is a guy who gets paid to sleep with women. I'd believe Reno to be a womanizer. Reno's a chick-magnet, so he's probably got lots of girls who'd sleep with him but anyway.....Yeah, Reno's awesome....But I can't have him, he's reserved for my dear friend Kasumi. I have claim on Rufus though. *puts arms around Rufus's neck and grabs his two-barrel shotgun, points it at various people* MINE! heart

Well, Reno said that, "...looking at them [Cloud and co.] is making me sober."

My friend and I are arguing over who gets to be Reno for Halloween.

I've never played the game, but Reno always struck me as the drunk womanizer type.

And anyways, his image was shape-shifted from the game in the movie. He is totally different.

But Reno's okay.

I assume he drinks because he is in the Turks. Now don't get me wrong! I don't think people that are in the Turks are drinkers, I'm just saying that a job like that (assasinations, murders, being guards, the works!) is pretty rough on a guy like Reno. I'd expect him to kill the pain with drinking and ease the stress with smoking.

Thank you for addressing the topic of his supposed 'womanizing' and 'whorish' ways, as well as his supposed heavy alcoholism. In no point in the game is Reno really a womanizer, seen flirting with girls, nor is he seen or even hinted at being a man whore to either sex. Fanon has twisted his character so much that people don't even see Reno as the real Reno anymore. *sighs*

As for the drinking, well, here's how I see it, so feel free to disagree if you must. Drinking alcohol does not automatically make you a drunk, nor a heavy alcoholic. Reno and Rude probably enjoy a good beer or two after their shift, which is not a problem. There are many people in the real world who, after finishing their work for the day, like to kick back, relax, and have a nice cool one. When Reno encounters Avalanche or is on the job, he is never portrayed as being drunk or heavily intoxicated, despite what fandom likes to do with him. The fact that he's in the Turks should tell you what kind of a person he is.

Reno is a very capable, intelligent person, who despite his flaws here and there, will get the job done, the way you want it. Despite how laid back and easy going he appears to be (his untucked shirt and unzipped jacket add on to this), he is still professional in how he deals with his job. Whether he dresses that way because it's his own personal style or as a way to fool the enemy, I'm not that sure, but it does not reflect his work ethic. Reno's not a slob, nor is he a slacker. If he were, he wouldn't even be in the Turks. The same also applies to the other characters in the Turks.

As for age, I'd suspect he be in his mid to late twenties, since he is a teenager in Before Crisis, which is about seven or six years prior to the original game's storyline. It's more likely Reno's appearance that makes one assume that he's younger, but that is not the case. Rufus is also much older than he appears to be, as well.

Reno's actually a very interesting character, but I absolutely detest what some of his 'fans' have done to his character. stare They keep trying to make him into something that he himself is not.
