An exceedingly loud yawn threatened to break the colt's jaw as he dipped down into a full-body stretch, tongue lolling out in pleasure as a few joints cracked. Ahh, man, did that ever feel good.
Ravi thought his temporary shelter for the night was decent - enough to cover his nose from a few drops, anyway. He'd originally found a small thicket with dense bushes and shrubs and things to create a thick canopy.. but the squirrels had made such a ruckus and bitten his ear so painfully that Ravi had high-tailed it outta there. So! Under a scruffy pine tree with pinecones poking at his soft underbelly it was - and it was the saddest looking pine tree Ravi had ever seen.
Drooping, Ravi flopped to the prickly ground unceremoniously as a rumble and a crack of lighting whipped the sky. He shrank back toward the thin trunk, wishing he knew who his parents were and, y'know, snuggling under a wing, or a tail or - or something. Ravi had never felt so alone in his life. And uncool. That too.

Takoda trotted along as yet another storm danced across the skies. Oh how she loved all these storms lately. the thundered echoed and crashed, followed by flashes of yellow and purple lightning streaking the heavens. She wasn't sure where she was going yet and was rally just wandering. She had taken a liking to wandering off on her own and exploring. It was much more interesting then sitting at home with her parents. Sure they were playful, but to stay put was boring and unexciting. She craved more then they offered. She had more then inherited their curious personas.
And then a movement caught her eyes. She peered at a rather large, scraggly pine tree, managing to make out a silver coat...and what looked like a red color patch with black striping and spots on its back. She could barely it but she knew it was a foal, a soquili. Hmmm hiding from the storm perhaps? As always curiousity got the best of her and she moved forward to greet the other and perhaps provide company during the storm if indeed this other soquili feared the storm.

Ravi had never been one to gloat, but, he figured he had pretty good eyes when he could spot a baby bumblebee buzzing its way a good hundred feet from where he stood. Not that he had anything to compare it to, but, hey. Anyway, these such eyes he prided himself on were alerting him to the fact that something was coming.
Ravi panicked.
Ohh, crud! That's just great, Ravi! he berated himself as he scrunched his body as close as it could possibly go around the sad trunk of the sad tree. Invite the freakin' locals in - they can smell fear, you idiot.
As the shadow neared, Ravi squeezed his eyes shut. This is it, everybody! Here ends the life of Ravi, son of.. two Soquili. Alright! What a legacy! A skinny leg appeared in his line of vision, but he couldn't see the end of it where sharp claws had to be waiting to scratch him. Ravi trembled. You can't go like this, Ravi! You've gotta be strong, witty - cool. Show some backbone before you die, c'mon.
... Hey. This voice was right! Who was he to cower down and submit himself to the food chain before a fight? Ravi stood up (he ignored his quaking knees), inhaled deeply, and squeaked (Squeaked?! his mind roared), "W-who's th-th-there?"

Takoda tried to peer through the pine needles to see the soquili hiding within. Since the tree was rather scruffy looking she was almost able to make out the markings and features. It was a male....a foal...and those markings looked a lot like their father's striping. She watched the other press closer to the tree...could it be? was it her brother?? And then she heard a rather terrified, squeaking voice. It was him!!! "Ravi! Is that you, my brother?" Takoda bounced headfirst into the tree to get closer to him. "Its me Takoda!" She half grinned at the sight of him and the shaking knees...had he thought she was some predator to kill him? Or was it just fear of the storm? Either way it was a rather funny sight to him and she giggled , flapping her small wings.

Ravi almost died when the primal roar of the enemy sounded off, the small body of muscle and purple fur topped with a grinning face emerging to claim his life--
Waitaminute. Backtrack, Ravi forcfully told his mind, which was already saying its prayers and asking for forgiveness from all the wrong things he'd done. He hadn't meant to insult the fat lady, honest! He was just asking when the baby was due, sheesh... As Ravi's mind caught on to the fact that, yes, he was still standing (albeit weakly and the scraggly tree supporting most, if not all, of his weight) and every limb seemed to be attatched, it processed the words for him.
"WHAT?!"
Ravi leapt to attention, squinting one eye for further examination of this.. girl. He had been afraid (Ready to die is more like it, his inner voice snidely commented) of - of a purple spotted filly. As Ravi was just about to tell his inner voice to go stick it in his ear, more pressing matters poked at him as a reminder.
"Are you off your rocker? I'm not your brother!" Ravi spluttered, bewildered at this girl's declaration and even more stupefied at the fact that she knew his name. "Look - Teekrada, was it? I don't know how you know my name, but," Ravi gave his "sister" another once-over, "I've never seen you in my life. Have you been stalking me?" He was instantly on edge again.
Another vicious crack lit the sky and Ravi's entire body cringed, muscles tightening reflexively in a most painful way. Oww, the colt's mind supplied, to which Ravi readily agreed to.
