Jupiter is the largest planet at 88,846 miles diameter. It is the 5th from the sun, the first of the "outer planets" (those after the asteroid belt), and the first of the gas giants. Gravity is much stronger on Jupiter than on Earth, and Jupiter is home to very fast, very strong storms. Its famous Red Spot is actually one of these storms, although the spot is 1/2 the size it was 100 years ago. Jupiter's atmosphere slowly turns into an ocean, due to gravitational forces upon the gasses that compose the planet.
There are 28 or more moons around Jupiter. One, Callisto, is dusty ice. Another, Ganymede, is larger than the planet Mercury. Europa has ice and water, and Io is covered with volcanoes.

Jupiter also has some asteroids in its gravitational field that either precede or follow its orbit around the sun!
