So, how did you meet your first Glider? Did you see her at the zoo? Pet one in a shop? Babysit your friends? See him on a nature show? Have her dropped on your doorstep?
Or is the first you've seen my siggy?
Whatever it is, tell us how you met our favorite marsupial?

I think the first time I became aware of sugar gliders was through Critters magazine, I'd purchased one for an article on hamsters or guinea pigs. I was enchanted with how cute they are. After that, I saw one in a pet store, but have had very little opportunity to see or have contact with them. I've not yet had the joy of handling one, which is unfortunate because I like them muchly! biggrin (muchly being a new word I just invented because, yes, I'm so cool that I am allowed to invent words cause um... yeah!)

You so win coolness points for saying muchly... because my best friend and I say that all the time... well, mostly her. "Good night! Love you muchly!" Hee hee! Was it an older Critters than the last 2? I bought those because I saw Suggies in the first (and on the COVER of 1996!) YAY FOR COVER GIRLS! Hee hee hee!

lol! Yeah, it was a really old issue, this was years ago. Cover girls do indeed rock. wink

Ok this is how it's happened....
My friend got himself a corn snake which i was all "OOO OOO" over and thus got into reading lots and lots of information about snakes... (didn't want one just found it interesting)
Then i came across this cute lil face of a leopard gecko... hypo i think it were and was thinking what the hell is it .... which lead to reading info on that .... (again didn't want one just got interested) but THEN i saw a bearded dragon on a website that was explaining stuff about geckos and thought ooo i really want one of those ... gimmie gimmie gimmie
so i was going round in circles reseaching about the beardie and found my self getting a big interest in all herps ( which are very cool) ... and stumbled onto a forum site in the uk
which i've slowly become an active member of....
but as i was flicking through the pages, i found this big eyed, pink nosed, fluffy thing in a cup ( a sugar glider sitting in a cup peekingit's head out ...)
and was thinking *ok now i've seen it all what the hell is that* ... as i've learnt more about sugar gliders.... i've become more obsessed with them and it's got to a point over the last few months that i simply must have my very own sugar gliders to love and spoil rotten or i will explode from all the *awwwwing* i do when i'm reading about them...lol
and now i'm hooked on them ..... so theres the long.... around the houses story of my addiction to sugar gliders lol mrgreen redface mrgreen

The first time I had ever heard of them was from you, Kipluck! I googled them, and became fascinated. Later, in a zoo in Chicago (I can't remember where! sweatdrop )I kinda saw one. It's area was dark, so I couldn't really see. Yet that excited me more so. When I heard that you were starting I glider guild, I was pretty pumped. And, well, here I am!

Swedish, I don't know how I missed reading this. Do you know what? I have NEVER seen a glider in a zoo! And I WANT to! Even though I see (and hold and talk to and sing to and play with and feed and confide in and hide from and mess with and tickle and kiss) gliders every day I really want to see them in the WILD... even (for now) the PRETEND wild!
In fact I have realized I have even SEEN gliders in a few zoos before but can't remember and didn't notice because I didn't know what they were back then!

my first time waz because i wanted a heghog but then on a exotic pet site saw the wonderful pet that is the sugar glider and then i went on a research spree and finaly got one has apet and i lover very much in fact i got her 7/19/07

Hmmm..... Let's see...
Well my mom's so called boyfriend had a family of gliders. They both really knew thatI liked them and WALLA I got Boulder for Christmas and I got Kawaii for free from him too

I first saw them when I was in a pet store, selling mice to the owner. They were in a round cage up on a high shelf, and I fell in love with them. I didn't see any more until years later, at a giant flea market. A year after that, when I found that the market regularly had them, I bought a rescued sugar glider. ^o^
