Well, if we're going to dream up the perfect Alice movie, one that follows the spirit of the books and has all the right actors and directors and stuff, we might as well make a thread for it!
So, who for what? I personally think Tim Burton would be great as the director. He can handle the crazy stuff without going overboard, and he'd probably follow pretty closely to the book (if Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is any example).
Which follows that Danny Elfman would probably score the music...

I'm not sure why but the idea of Danny Elfman music for Alice in Wonderland bothers me. neutral

I think Elfman would overshadow the plot a bit. It could work though, I suppose.
I would want an unknown playing Alice. The role is such that a big movie star just wouldn't do it justice.

Burton would be an amazing Alice director. If it was a movie of American McGee's Alice, the music from the game could stay. If it was from the books, I think Elfman would do a good job.
No iconic actors, though. That's where Charlie went wrong.

Tilda Swinton needs to be in that movie, i don't know what role she would be best in, but after the angel Gabriel in Constantine and the White Witch in Narnia, I'm convinced she would fit right in.
too old to be alice though, too elegant to be the queen of hearts...

Someone like Johnny Depp. Not that he's not a great character actor, but he's got that "ZOMG it's Johnny Depp" vibe. And in Charlie, Tim Burton focused a little too much on Depp's part, like it was more a character movie than anything else. It would work if the character was Alice, but it focused more on Wonka than on Charlie in that movie.

I'm definitely on the Tilda train. ^^ And I don't think she's too elegant to be the Queen. I think the Queen should be elegant. Elegantly mad. I think they should do something slightly different with each character. If they try too hard to copy off of all the other Alice movies, it'll feel cheap (to me at least.)

People who play themselves in every movie they're in. The focus was shifted a little too far toward Wonka but I happen to loath Freddy Highmore so I wasn't too upset about that.
