Yes, indeed, it looks like a respectable goat in the British Army has been demoted for stepping out of line and attempting to headbutt his fellow soldiers.

No, Lady Nekochan has not gone bonkers, she has merely found a very amusing article on CNN.com. Here.

According to the article, Billy the goat caused a stir when he "darted from side to side, throwing soldiers off their stride," and "was trying to headbutt the waist and nether regions of the drummers." He has been demoted to the same status as a private.

I couldn't help but be reminded of Clyde, the goat at the barn I go to, who often has to be kept in a stall during spring-summer, when he also finds sport in headbutting people. I could never imagine someone trying to keep him walking in formation in the army.

That is hilarious!!

My cousin's neighbors have goats, and that reminded me of them. They tried to headbutt my cousin once through a metal fence...

Clyde really only gets on a headbutting roll with the barn owner's son. He chases the boy around the barn until he can't breathe. xd Only him, too.

Everyone else, he loves to be scratched behind his horns and spoiled with grain, hay, and granola.

There are two horses at the barn that he plays with through their stalls. They grab one of his horns with their teeth: not mean-like, just for play. He stands there and lets them do it. o.0 If he didn't like it, he'd headbutt them and walk away.

Apparently they are.

And you know now. Well, mine-sniffer dogs do exist. In those countries where mines from past wars still litter the fields and one false step could mean death or maiming for any unsuspecting creature - particularly humans - their services would be very helpful. Send the dogs out to detect the explosives, then it's out to safety for them and in with the bomb squad.

I can see where a goat could be useful to the Swiss, but the British? Would the terrain even permit it?

I met a man walking along a beach with a baby goat. It head butter me. He said that means it likes me. Haha I don't know if this is true (probably not) But what if the goat wasn't trieing to head butt, but only wanted to play?

Well look at it this way--if he's subject to demotion, I guess it means he's seen as equal to the soldiers! rofl
