Eh... yep. So when I was first blundering around through the listing of guilds a few weeks ago, looking for an interesting one to join, I ran across the Grammar Nazi's guild. I was tempted to join, but an ongoing in-depth discussion of subjunctives in one of the threads sort of scared me off.
I was wondering if anyone here has any affiliation wtih that guild, or any previous experience with them. What does everyone here think of them in general? I poked my nose around this evening, due to severe boredom, and they seem a little... Nazish. They like flaming noobs. A lot, apparently. sweatdrop They really put the Nazi in their grammar.... Or something.... eh... they don't seem to be very friendly.
Y'know, I should also mention that when I first considered joining THIS guild, one of the things that almost convinced me not to was that it was was formed a day after the Grammar Nazi guild was. Since the Grammar Nazis are a little more widely known then we are, I at first was afraid that this was some sort of take off on them. Eh... I am fully aware now that it is not, especially since the Spelling Nazis were going strong before ever starting this particular... guild... forum... thingie.... Still, mayhap it would be worthwhile to officially mention that somewhere....
Eeh, I'm beginning to confuse myself, so why don't I just shut up? (If any of you happen to be Grammar Nazis... eh, nothing personal. Um, I'm sure they're very friendly once you get to know them )

We've had one or two run-ins with the Grammar Nazis before, I think. They're okay, but I find they tend to very territorial and quick to believe that the Spelling Nazis are just a rip-off of them..... Which we aren't!

Spelling Nazis>Grammar Nazis.
I've seen some of the more hardcore members at work and it's like "*Forgets a comma*" "*Rips out your heart and eats your soul* >OOOOOOOOOO" o_O;

Hey Chibi, nice to see you posting again. =D
On another note, Grammar Nazis are more strict in my opinion. They purposely go around to correct every single detail of every post. I secretly think they have a spy viewing the guild as we speak, to report how we're not 'as good as them.' But, then again, I'm paranoid. XD I think we have had a few members who are a Grammar Nazi as well as a Spelling Nazi. But, they sort of died out.
I, unfortunately, was not a member of this guild when it first started in the few threads that it did, so, I don't quite know the full background of this guild. However, from what I've learned, Spelling Nazis were not modeled in any way after the Grammar Nazis. It's just pure coincidence that we're both Nazis. And, personally, they act totally different from us. They're more a real Nazi-ish, "Kill all noobs!", but we're more like a Soup Nazi, "No soup for noobs!" If you want the full actual thing about who we are, Sweet is the only one I know who has really been around for the longest. So, you could ask her...
And, beside, we're much better than them because we have me, and they don't. =D

*cue evil laughter*
Just enter "nazi" into the guild search, if you want to see what I'm talking about.
I dunno, though. Anyone who's brazen enough to start his own hate club can't be all bad. That's what whatsisname did. The Grammar Nazi guild captain, I mean... dj -something....

Aaah, I've been around for a while, too. I remember a run-in with them or two. I bet Tanabe would, too, if you asked her. They are very, very picky. Like Twilight said, they make it a point to correct every little detail, even if it's just something stupid like a comma or a period. If you look at their guild, they even have a post against silly little sayings like "lol" or "brb" or "seeya". Which, when you think about it, while not technically part of the english language, everyone understands. So what's the harm of using them? Some of them, although not all of them, tend to be rather rude while they are doing it as well. Once in a while, one or two of them would come into our old guild and start a fight. That never went over well! wink As far as I can remember, any Spelling Nazi who was also a Grammar Nazi was never very active. I think they joined just to see the difference between the two groups.

A-yup. I was around when the thread was created. In fact, a guild was my idea. But I couldn't be online because Sweet had the computer. mad
What happened was this. We made the guild, not knowing about the Grammar Nazis. At about page 50 or so they attempted to flame us. (Some of their conversations about us in their thread were hilarious. xd ) We all reached an understanding and agreement. Now, we just put up with each other and everyone's happy.

A lot of people do, because we're so cool and they want to find the source of our coolness. The Grammar Nazis, the mods, the Backstreet Boys, Paris Hilton, Elmo, George Bush, Pikachu, the papparazzi...they all do.
What?

I just went and did a guild search for "Nazi" and one of the results was a guild called "The Grammar/Spelling Nazi Guild of Gaia!!!" That seems pretty stupid...
