All That Glitters
Vibrant Shades of Death tossed his head letting out a loud nicker, with a buck he took off like a glittery bullet across the land. His mane and tail streamed behind him, banner to his good health and strength. Glowing eyes watched everything rush by in a blur of motion before he skidded to a halt for no apparent reason.
Raising his regal head towards the sky the stallion sniffed the air for any hint of another nearby. He pouted slightly when he didn't scent anyone and lowered his head to the earth and began to graze quietly.
He would have scented someone had his nose been turned in the right direction... Or, was it if the wind had been blowing the right way. No matter, Remy was there and quite close... Growing closer as the seconds passed.
With a loud whinney, meant to alert any and all to his presence so that they could move before he mowed them down, he galloped out of the brush. He didn't seem to notice the other stallion at first (how could he not)... But that was proven wrong as, a few feet past where the other stood he skidded to a halt, dust flying up around his hooves.
"What tha..." He turned, brow raised. He blinked... And blinked again.
Vibrant's head jerked up when he heard the other stallion's call but he didn't move fast enough and jerked when the other flew by barely acouple feet away.
Vib stared at the dark blue stallion. he looked as though he were crying...blood?... then when he closed his eyes one could tell that it was just markings that looked like blood tears.
"Hello ....nice day ain't it? I'm Vibrant Shades of Death...and you are?" The rainbow skull on the stallions rump seemed to be smiling oddly at Remy.
His eyes closed for a moment and, upon their reopening he tossed his head back, letting loose a laugh-like nicker. "Vi'bran' Shae o' wha' now?" He certainly wasn't looking at the design on the other stallion's rump. No, as a matter of fact he had no intrest in the rumps of any stallion... Other than his own, which was plenty fine if he could say so himself.
"Remy. Remy LeBeau." He squinted slightly, wondering if his eyes were decieving him... Or if the other male was simply that bright. "Go'ness. An' here I though I was colla'ful."
He laughed "Nice to meetcha Remy ..and yes...i'm that bright." He shrugged almost shyly, pawing at the ground he threw his head back "Wanna race?"
Vib was always ready to race he was a good runner and loved feeling the wind whip his mane and til into a flurry of vibrant color. He pawed the earth with one of his bloody lookin hooves and tossed his head making the tri-colore dmane ripple.
Kitara yawned softly and lifted her head from the spring from which she had been drinking. A flick of her snow white tail, her ears turning to the left where voices drifted towards her. The mare smirked softly and shook her head, her one strip of black hair tied with a plume of blue danced before her eyes then back over her ears again. Her one white hoove pawed against the ground and then with a whinny she daintly trotted off towards the voices. As she rounded the bend she saw the two males before her, one whos coat shined with many colors it was almost unreal, and the other with a shock of firey red hair. She smirked to herself as she walked towards him. Not long ago she had been a filly playing games, now she found herself a strong mare, still playing games...but of a nother kind. "Why Hello there.." She called to them.
"Race wit' you?" That laugh-like nicker came once more. "Non... Why would I race wit' you when I jus' raced da wind and won?" One of his own crimson hooves kicked up a bit of dust, tail flickering against his hindquarters. He had nothing he needed to proove to this male.
His ears turned as the sound of a fair voice touched his ears. A voice far fairer than that of the brightly colored stallion he'd found himself in the company of. Now... He had nothing to prove to another stallion, but to a mare?
He grinned, tilting his head towards the mare while letting loose a whinney of greeting followed by a flare of nostrils. " Hello to you, chere. Tell Remy... What brings a lovely lady like yourself to these parts?"
Poor Vib about had a heart attack when the sudden voice appeared behind him. Every musces in his body jerked at the same time and he leaped acouple inches into the air.
The stallion could be abit excitedable and this was one of those times, turning he saw the mare and relaxed "hello," Vibrants bright glowing eyes cast wierd red shadows across his face and now the skull on his rump was staring...and grinning oddly at her as if it was alive and could see her perfectly.
"I'm Vibrant Shades of Death ...and you are?" He titled his head making his silken mane fall completly into his face bothering him to no end till he titled his head back up to it's normal position.
The mare smiled as the brightly colored male jumped and spun around to face her. So she'd surprised them eh? She giggled and shook her mane, her amber eyes sliding over each of them in turn. "Im Kitara." she said, in a silky smooth voice. Her small white tail flicked as her eyes brushed over Remmy. "Pleasure to meet you..." she said to both of them. Her one white hoof pawed into the ground lightly. "Mmm.." she cooed as she walked around into the middle of their make shift circle. "And what are two handsome stallions doing out here?" she asked with a tilt of her head. She giggled as Remmy, the dashing dark colored stallion with the shock of red hair addressed her. "Just out for a walk, enjoying the sights..." she said, a coy look on her face.
"Oui, chere... A pleasure indeed." He nodded once before tossing his head back, sending locks of fiery hair fluttering against his muscled neck. Burning embers followed her movements with a certain... Appreciation.
He glanced up quickly as the other stallion spoke, unable to keep himself from snorting after the colorful one spoke his name. Something about that name just didn't seem to suit him as far as Remy was concerned.
His attentions readily returned to the mare, brow raising slightly. "Tell me, chere... Have you found a sight to enjoy? Or are you gonna keep wanderin'?"
Vib listened to em carefully, she flirted to remy and he flirted back it was a never ending cycle, Vib felt abit left out leaving his eyes to wander, not ever having been the flirting type the stallion didn't really know how to do so.
His mane rustled across his sleek and slender neck, small ears turned this way and that swiveling aorund as he listened.
Poor Vib wnated to gallop off being fairly uncomfortable here, he pawed the earth with a violent manner for the first time since his arrival in this place he showed an inner cruelty inhertited from his parents.
Kitara smiled, laughing lightly with a shake of her mane. "Hmm, yes it seems I have found something that is easy on the eyes." with this remark she looked at both Remy and the one who's name fit his discription, Viberant. She smiled and turned her amber eyes to Viberant once more, he was after all looking mildly uncomfortable. "However it seems my presnace..has cause some sort of problem. Perhaps I should take my leave?" she asked, but with no intention of truely doing so. She smiled and tilted her head to Viberant who seemed most unsure around her. Turning back to Remy she shruged her shoulders. "And what of you? You havent told me what you two where up to..."
His nostrils flared as a snort of amusement came from him. "Easy on da eyes... You mus' be talkin' 'bout me." He grinned, knowing from the discomfort of his own eyes that she'd have to be some sort of 'crazeh' to be talking about the other stallion... Especially when compaired to himself.
When she spoke of leaving he interjected quickly, "Non, chere. You can stay right here." He nodded, mane tossing as he did so. "We was think' o' runnin'. You like to run, chere?"
He let out a deep nsort, Vib's whole apperance seemed to have suddenly shifted, his eyes ad a darker gleam and his coat matched, even the bright sparkles had dulled alittle, his skull seemed to be grinning maniacly now as if it wanted strangle someone.
"Vain creature..." He addressed Remy, his voice was low, dark and rumbling like an oncoming storm. "What happened to tha 'I just raced the wind and won' eh? Suddenly you want to race just cause a mare is here?"
Vib, for once was disappointed that he hadn't inherited his parents vicious fangs but he didn't care. Another snort rumbled form his chest and he rolled his eyes.
Finally the glowing eyes turned to the mare "Your fine dear...you don't gotta leave."
Kitara raised an eyebrow as the stallion seemed to darken in his moon, she squinted her eyes and sure enough the sparkles in his coat had dulled there tone. He was easyer to look at now, but his glinting red eyes gave off waves of anger that spoke volumes. Unknowingly she'd walked into something...she shruged it off, the angery male said she was fine and thus his anger laid not with her. She nodded after a moment and smirked. "I Do like to run, I always Have...Although I could scarse have a chance if you truely havd raced the wind and won." she said with sparkling amber eyes to Remy. "But...Perhaps A mare could put you both in your place?" she added with a challenging look to each of the stallions.
"Vain? Remy?" He snorted, pawing one of his fiery front hooves at the ground. "Non... Remy jus' knows when a chere is bored with jus' standin' 'round."
He tossed his head, eyes flaring with that dark glow. "I said nothin' 'bout racin'. Can run without a race... Just to feel the wind." He pawed at the ground once more, tail flickering almost violently back and forth. "Le's run, chere... See who puts who in whose place..."
With a smile the Mare nodded her head. "As you wish..." she said with a laugh and before she even finished her sentance she took of running. Her strong legs carried her easily over the landscape, through the knee high grasses that whipped against her velvet fur. Her short tail streamed behind her as she ran, nickering a laughing taunting giggle back to him.
Without giving so much as a glance back towards the other stallion he bolted after the mare, mane and tail flowing behind him like the flickering flames of a bonfire. He certainly was a sight to see when in full motion, even if he considered himself a sight when not in motion as well. He caught up to her easily, running alongside her. "See... 'Dis much better wit'out dat twinklin' one..."
Kitara laughed as he caught up beside her, she hadnt minded the other stallion but it seemed that in her game she had set in motion something that had been burried between the two before. "I suppose so, Now its just between us Darlin' " she said with smirk, willing herself forward with a short burst of speed. Leaping over a fallen log she chanced a look behind her and had to catch her breath. He was STUNNING, the little mare felt her heart skip a beat as she watched him running behind her. He was catching up yes, but not that she minded. His dark coat shimmered in the sunlight with lighter hues of blue and his shock of firey hair seemed to be alive, like the flickering flame itself. She forced herself to turn away, not wanting to let on too much.
He cleared the log easily just as she had, chest heaving with the excitement of the chase. The fact that he caught her staring back at him simply served to further fuel his need... His need for speed. He tossed his head back with a loud whinney as they ran on, enjoying this just as he had enjoyed his run before he had been distracted by Something, Something What's His Name.
Kitara pressed onward, she didnt want to be beaten easily! Her strong legs thundered forward as her sides began to ache. She nickered back at his whinning cry of freedom and joy, shaking her own short mane behind her. They ran through the plains and into the underbrush of the forest, the trees seemed to fly past her as she ran. He continued to get a gain on her, running side by side now as they weaved through the trees, dappled sunlight dancing over their pelts.
He ignored the trees save for sidestepping them at the right moments. For a while he even ignored her as they ran. He seemed to only focus on the freedom around them... The knowledge that this was his to have and do with as he wished.
He began to slow down after a while, feeling his legs grow weary as they ran on. His nostrils flared... Somewhere nearby there was water. Sweet, refreshing water. He nickered softly before redirecting their course, taking the lead towards the nearby river.
Kitara ran as pride commanded and slowly shifted her corse as the stallion headed towards the sound of the stream cutting through the forest, Thank the spirits she could use a draft. She slowed her pace a bit more, her chest lightly heaving for again she didnt want to let on how winded she really was. Remy had given her quite a workout. She smiled as he reached the spring a few steps ahead of her. "Looks like you beat me after all.. Perhaps the wind really is no contest." she added and dipped her head towards the cold refreshing water. She drank deeply, the water cooling her warm blood. Her amber eyes closed as she lightly whinned after lifting her head from the water. "ahhh. "
He remained silent as he dipped his head to drink from the waters. His 'sips' were slow, as were his breaths, trying to bring his body back to a state of calm without letting the cool water hit his stomach too hard, tempting as it was to just drink and drink...
He brought his head up after a moment, reguarding her with a rogue-ish grin. "Non, chere... The wind is a contest. Did you not feel it racin' wit' us? Racin' 'round us? The wind... It everywhere." He nodded slowly before lowering his head for another drink, a lock of fiery hair falling across his face.
The mare nodded softly, and found a ring of truth in his words. The wind had seemed like it was struggling to keep up with them as they ran. She smiled and nodded her head. "True enough Remy...." she said, slightly drawin out his name before she bent her head and took another small drink of the crisp water. "do you often race the wind? " she asked, remembering having spent her childhood attempting to do so
"Oui, I race da wind all da time... Makes you feel like da only one out there's you an' da wind. Nothin' else." He nodded slowly before stepping into the stream, splashing around a bit. It felt good to kick up some of the coolness onto his legs. "An' you, chere?"
She smiled and nodded her head. "Yes, it was a silly thing I would do as a young filly.." she cut off there, surprised that the game she had been playing had let herself open herself up like that. She coughed lightly and smirked. "Never the less you beat me here...so I guess you running with the wind has payed off . "
He nickered softly, trying to cover up a soft laugh. "Dat it has... Day's paid off quite nicely... Met twinkle'toes an' then you." He tilted his head towards her, letting a grin play over his lips. "'Course... It be gettin' late an' I sure you have someone ta race the wind home to."
Kitara chuckled softly, letting a coy smile play upon her face. "Well now, I suppose thats a Good thing now isnt it, seeing as you two didnt seem to be getting along to terrably well.." she chuckled and shook her head, giggling. "Hardly Darlin'. Im wild and free, no one to race home to...no one...to tie me down." she said, a glimmer in her amber eyes.
"Ah had nothin' to prove to him an' he seemed like the sort who wanted to be provin' somethin'." He snorted softly, pawing at the ground with a bit of distaste. His head tossed, mane fluttering back into place against his neck. "S'that so? Then... A wild chere like y'self won't mind comin' wit me. I know a place where there are sweet treats waitin'."
Kitara chuckled and nodded her head. "I can see what you mean, However I only met him that one fleeting moment." she smiled again and brusted past him. "lead the way then, to these...sweet treats." She knew better, oh did she know better. But right now she didnt care, she was enjoying her game, her time as the true reble she'd always wanted to be as a filly. Her small tail flicked and she smirked softly up at him.
He nickered softly once more before turning into the woods, leading her through the trees while still close enough to the river to scent it. The lake was their next destination... And so were the treats that awaited there.
After their run through the woods and their stop for a drink he had lead her down along the river towards the lake that fed at least a part of its waters. The 'treat' he had spoken of was there... Or, rather, he hoped it would be there least he wind up looking like a fool.
He paused in his movements for a moment, ears tilting as they listened for sound. Nothing... Other than the sound of their soft breaths and even that was hard to hear despite how close they were. "Dis way, chere..." He nickered before moving on. They were almost there... Just a little bit further.
