I'm thinking of starting up a new auction soon, theme being... colourfulness. Yep. So yeah, I figured I'd draw something like this for the winner: (except a bit bigger) Now, a few things I'd like to ask. -Is the background too much? I'm really terrible with backgrounds. Too colourful? Any suggestions? -How is the anatomy? I know the head is a bit oversized, and that was my intention. But on anything else, suggestions appreciated. If there's any major problems a draw-over would be nice. I think that's it. 3nodding

personally not a big fan of blow up backgrounds, but enough people are so i think it's sellable. Sometimes i just like to go with something a little more graphic or designy, if i feel it's going to wind up in a sig. The colors look pretty fine in any case, the whole think had a candy toned/sorbet palette going on.
as for anatomy...not perfect, but passable. the shoulder neck area could look a little more solid...i guess if the head is going to be drawn bigger, the neck has to look like it really supports it, not by being thicker persay, but well placed.

I don't really get what you mean about making the shoulder/neck more solid. Should the neck be placed further back from the chin, or...? e_e

since raster images aren't usually as sharp and crisp as vector, i wouldn't recomend using blown up backgrounds for them. for one, they just become more pixelated and blowing up something that looks better small sort of points out the image's flaws. i'd say just leave a blanck background or use flat geometric shapes if you'd like to include something simple.

to sum it up the best i can, sort of raster images are graphics made in photoshop, painter, or any other program which are based on individual pixels and not geometric shapes like vector. if you enlarge a raster graphic it has to make up for the missing pixels and sort of guess depending on the colors surrounding the original pixel as to what would be surrounding it if the image were any larger. this results in a blurry/pixelated image.
