I am learning to make stone knives from my father, its quick becoming a favored hobby of mine and soon I will learn to carve the handles for the knives. I am thinking of making myself an atheme and I was wondering who else might consider useing these as I might start up a small store for these kinds of knives. They are made out of Obsidian blades and I will be using an ebony handle on mine but I have access to mammoth ivory or any other type of wood. Also if asked I will bless the knife I send with either a personal blessing from a particular god/dess or a general one just from the high goddess. If I become advanced enough I might be able to inlay gems and stones and such... Post your thoughts or ideas about this please

eek Stone knives? Those sound... intensely hard to make. But also quite interesting. The thought of an obsidian blade just makes me drool. Wow. I don't suppose you make obsidian mirrors too? I know several people, myself included, who would go nuts for a proper obsidian mirror.
I'd say there probably would be a market for stone knives but it'd be a very specialised one. For it to be in any way profitable you'd probably have to branch out into other things as well. Maybe gemstone statuettes, carved stone tablets and other tools might sell. Otherwise I think it's a very limited market. Good idea though. It must take a lot of skill and effort to make a stone knife.

Making obsidian mirrors would be awsome to make, you're probably right, I would have to make other things, but that would be fun too!

I can make bolines or just knives for alters or just everyday kitchen/hunting/skinning knives, these knives are soooo sharp they can cut freshly baked bread and not bend it down... but i also figured out how to make obsidian mirrors, those will take me longer to make cause its a little harder than i thought i think but ill have em one day

Can you carve other things like, say, a scrying mirror?

Yup people would pay good money for something like that. But maybe a phisical store might not be the best thing, because its the kind of thing a small percentage of the population will only buy once. But I think an online store would go great, because you can get people all over the nation, even all over the world. And selling them in those hippy stores would work well too because you wouldn't have to cover the cost of the store, just give the store owners a cut of the proffit.

le drool. This is extremely interesting. It would seem as if you have access to a large amount of obsidian, but I'd like to know just how you got your mits on it ninja ...Then again, I'd take up stone carving if I had that much obsidian...

Oh... and prices would be good.

Not to steal any thunder or anything, but etching obsidian isn't hard. ~could etch ogham into a scrying mirror in a heartbeat~
The other thing one might consider is how fragile Obsidian blades are. Beautiful yes, but they lack a certain practicality that is a staple in my path. Now, forged Angel Hair knives are a beauty.
