"Revolution," the abandoned code name, conveyed everything that Nintendo says the Wii name is meant to emphasize. Gaming for everyone, innovation for people everywhere. "We" are the world that Wii wants to conquer. Me, I'm worried about a sticky i key. Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. But here's the bottom line: Anyone who gets fixated on the Wii name is the same kind of person who didn't appreciate what the GameCube could do because it looked like a purple lunchbox. This amounts to a test of the game community's consumer savvy. If the Revol...., I mean Wii, has real gaming chops at a smart price, let's focus on that. I'm all for things looking cool, so maybe there was SOME legitimacy to sneering at the GameCube's appearance. But would you really feel negative about the next Nintendo console because of its (stupid) name? I'm talking to gamers here. I don't think Wii is a label that's going to do anything except further confuse people who aren't gamers about why they should be. So in that sense, nice going Nintendo -- you've got the right ideas about innovation but your marketing is still up your you know what. But gamers, please, we're not really going to spend much time on this name thing among ourselves, are we? Let's talk about the machine, the games and the consumer experience in buying and using them.
In a nutshell (no pun intended), the new Nintendo console is now called the Wii. rofl

Please, please, PLEASE tell me that's a joke. I can't stand it. If it is called the Wii is better look damned cool and have awesome games. I can see the future now: I'll be writing my short little christmas lsit for my mom and on it I'll put "I wanna Wii!" And then I'll be shot and buried for requesting such a thing. XD

Agreed... oh, no, no, no. >.<; Wii... I have NO idea what you little pervy children mean by playing with each other's Wiis, but the name is just... random... and... um... o.O; Ridiculous? The Revolution... that sounded kinda cool.

It did sound better as Revolution, but I don't really mind. It could be called the Nintendo Poop for all I care.. Even though that's pretty much what they've renamed it xd
