Hitsugaya's exact birth place in Soul Society is still unknown, though it is confirmed that he was raised at Junrin'an, West Rukongai by a grandmother-like figure until he entered the school of Shinigami. Hinamori Momo, Vice-Captain of 5th Division in Gotei 13-Tai, was Hitsugaya's friend and neighbor since childhood, whom Hitsugaya has been very protective of til this very day.
Further details about Hitsugaya's life prior to Shin'ou Reijutsu In days have not been revealed at this point. However, there have been small hints here and there (especially in the drama CDs) that he decided to become a Shinigami in order to accomplish his "duty" of protecting Hinamori, who is now his only "family" left in Soul Society.
Hitsugaya's outstanding performance during school years has quickly earned him the title of "Child Prodigy", which is still being used by a number of Shinigami today. As a matter of fact, Hitsugaya is the youngest captain in Soul Society history, who was directly promoted to captainship without having to climb the usual ladder of hierarchy.
In spite of his child-like appearance, Hitsugaya is well-respected by fellow Shinigami as a capable leader figure. Nevertheless, Hitsugaya has remained the same "Shiro-chan" of Rukongai days in Hinamori's eyes: the girl often forgets that Hitsugaya's position in Gotei 13-Tai is now her own senior, much to Hitsugaya's dismay. In return, Hitsugaya could easily lose his composed self whenever Hinamori is in danger - a fact often seen as the boy's one true weakness but also the most attractive side to his fans.

Soul slayer Hyourinmaru:
Shikai form:
Hyourinmaru is the strongest Zanpakutou (Soul Cutter) among all swords with ice/snow elements. A dragon of water and ice is formed during Hyourinmaru's shikai by Hitsugaya's spiritual energy, which is powerful enough to manipulate the weather in the region. When Hyourinmaru is in its attack mode, anything it touches would freeze up instantly, thus sealing all movements of the opponent.
Bankai form:
The name of Hitsugaya's Bankai (Hyourinmaru's ultimate form) is Daiguren Hyourinmaru, written as six Kanji characters.
Dai: large, big.
Gu: red, firey.
Ren: lotus.
Daiguren Hyourinmaru's activation form is very pretty: a group of lotus-shaped ice rings will appear and float around the sky, as a pair of ice wings, feet and tail grow out of Hitsugaya's body which enables him to fly during battles. An enormous western-style ice dragon can be seen in the background when Hitsugaya's spiritual energy has reached its maximum point, and its tail will whirl around Hitsugaya's right hand when attacking the enemy.
The state of bankai uses off a lot of spiritual energy out of any shinigami. Due to the fact that Hitsugaya is still very young, his bankai is not at its complete stage yet and the ice flowers floating in the sky are used as a countdown to his power. At the moment, there are twelve ice flower petals in total when Hitsugaya first releases his bankai. Once all petals have shattered, Hyourinmaru will no longer be able to stay in bankai form and Hitsugaya's power will vanish temporarily.
During one of the latest Bleach manga chapters, we've learned that Hyourinmaru also has a technique called Ryuusenka (Dragon Misty Ladder) in its bankai state. The details about this technique is unknown at the moment, though it proves to be very powerful as it was able to shatter an arankal in a split second.

Bio:
Hiei is the offspring of a mating between a Koorime (Hina) and an unknown fire demon. Hina is born a Koorime, a race of self-reproductive ice demons who are all female. She fell in love with a fire demon and bore his son. However, this kind of action is considered a crime in the Island of the Koorimes, which floats above the Makai. Thus, he was given the title, "The Forbidden Child", and as an infant was thrown overboard by Rui, Hina's best friend. Before she did, however, she told the infant that if he must, he should come back and take revenge upon the Koorimes. Hina shed two tears which turned into gems, one for Hiei and one for his sister, Yukina, who is full fledged Koorime. Then he was thrown off. A band of thieves picked up Hiei in the forests of the Makai and took him in as one of their own. He learned survival skills, thievery and such. As he grew more and more powerful, the thieves finally left him, perhaps out of fear, for at the age of five he was an A class demon. He carries his katana (sword) everywhere as means of weaponry. His only pursuit was strength and his long lost sister, Yukina. He also looks for his tear gem, which he lost during a fight when the chain was broken, causing it to fall into a rushing river.

Although he mostly relies on his other skills here is a listing of the techniques that Hiei uses. He always takes his Bandana off when he uses any of his techniques
Dragon of the Darkness Flame in the Funimation Dub- This is Hiei's most powerful and well known technique. Using a large amount of his Demon Energy (Yoki), Hiei is able to draw out a dragon made of yoki flames and send it at his opponent. His Evil Eye (Jagan) helps him control the dragon. The first time he used this technique was during the Dark Tournament against Zeru, a member of the Jolly Devil Six (English manga) a.k.a. Team Rokuyukai (Japanese versions, English anime) who is also a flame user. He easily beat Zer-O with the dragon. However, Hiei's right arm was burned for awhile because it was his first attempt at summoning the dragon in the Human Realm. During his match against Team Toguro's Bui, Hiei demonstrates he now can control the technique because he has a dragon tattoo on his right arm that is concealed by a powerful seal. Later after Bui reflects the technique back at Hiei, Hiei demonstrates that when he absorbs the technique it can temporarily amplify his power. But a side effect is that Hiei has to hibernate for awhile after it wears off.
Fist of the Mortal Flame in the English Dub- First used against Kuromomotor of Team Uraotogi it where Hiei draws in flames from the Human Realm. Using it to surround his fist (or fists) and then attack his opponent with hundreds punches in several seconds. The flames adding a burning touch with each strike, and increasing his fist(s) concussive force for maxium damage.
Sword of the Darkness Flame in the English Dub- During his match against Kuromomotoro he had an advantage against Hiei since his millet dumplings (Steaming Spheres) allows his body to stop the pain of any kind of attack that has already been used against him, such as when he slashed his arm with Hiei's sword, he used a Steaming Sphere to make his body invincible to the pain, the sword couldn't even cut his skin. The results of the battle puts Hiei in a tight spot, with a broken Katana, his Fist of the Mortal Flame now rendered useless, and he will die if he uses the Black Dragon Hell Fire, Hiei is forced to use this technique. It is where he produces a sword made of yoki flames that bears a strong resemblance to Kuwabara's Rei Ken. The only difference is that the Sword of the Darkness Flame is in a whole different league compared to the Rei Ken. The main reason why Hiei doesn't like to use this technique is because of its resemblance to the Rei Ken and his distaste towards Kuwabara. He only used this a few times during the series.
