(( OOC:// Hello, everyone! =D I'm Ooka. Nice to meet you all! n__n- I haven't roleplayed much, unfortunatley. ^^'' I feel kind of guilty for letting Amani just sit in my siggy doing nothing, so I'd really like to introduce her and get her knowing some other wolves. :3 *nods* Anyway, here I go! ^___^- ))

The sunlight was warm on Amani's pelt. A little too warm. A
Amani's vibrant yellow eyes flickered open as the sun bore down on her. Blinking, she grunted. Amani didn't want to move... but the sun ray's were starting to get very, very hot indeed. She slowly lifted herself from the ground, stretched, and padded over to a more shady area.
'Hmm. The sun's risen very high up into the sky today. No wonder it's so hot,' Amani muttered to herself.
She tilted her head as a butterfly drifted past. It fluttered around her head, almost teasing her. She growled and swiped at it with one front paws, but missed and instead tumbled into the dust.
Sighing deeply, Amani turned to look at the tree towering over her. It was gnarled, scratched and had a strong scent of wood. She smiled at it, regarding it as a friend. It sure gave off a lot of shade.
"Thanks for the cover, friend tree," Amani's eyes softened a little as she leant up against it, "Though, I'm sure I won't meet anyone under your branches."
At least, Amani hoped she wouldn't. Amani hadn't really talked to many other wolves during her puppyhood. She'd even been distant towards her siblings and family. The reddish-brown wolf, instead, had enjoyed time to herself... being alone, not having to mingle with others, not having to be involved with anyone. This was how she liked it.
However, a distant scent hovered over the tree. It wasn't a fresh scent, sure, but it was there. The scent bothered Amani a little. Other wolves.

Amani hoped that she wouldn't meet anyone. This day, like many days before it, seemed nothing out of the ordinary. She shouldn't need to worry...

One of Amani's ears flicked back as she heard the low voice sound from behind her. She tensed a little and turned towards where the voice had come from. Another wolf? Oh, great...
"Uh...ummm, I'm just..." Amani's yellow eyes locked with the male's. In comparison to her small body, he seemed a large wolf. Amani could also see several scars on the stranger's muzzle and chest... scars of battle, perhaps? Amani shivered a little. Did this wolf present a danger to her, or was she being too cautious?
She hesitated, then remembered that the stranger had asked her a question. Hurriedly, she answered.
"N...no," Amani replied, shaking her head slowly and trying to mask her uneasiness with a thin smile, "I haven't seen anyone here. There's a small scent on the base of this tree, if that's of any help to you. It's not a fresh scent, though. A few hours old, most likely. W...why do you ask?"
She stepped back a few paces, just in case. Encountering another wolf was the last thing on Amani wanted. Yet, she'd been spotted, just like that.
Though daunted and alarmed, she refused to look it. She raised her tail a little higher than usual and puffed out her chest. Hopefully, this stranger would leave her alone. At least, she hoped he would.

((00C// ^^- No problem. xd I'm worse! ))

Amani twitched a little, nervously listening to everything the male said. She forced a weak smile when he looked at her, and found herself having to hesitantly contribute to the new conversation.
"Y-Yeah, it is a little... 'odd', I guess. But I usually don't venture out past this tree. I keep to myself, or stay in my mother's old birthing den. Though my siblings and I are all grown up now..." she looked towards the ground, "we don't see eachother often. I stay where I feel comfortable. I tread carefully. Meeting others may lead to misfortune, and are only distractions."
Amani instantly regretted having said that. It made her situation all the more awkward. She shook her head, then stepped forward towards the male, trying to seem at least a little more confident than she was before.
"Why am I 'frazzled'? Well, I simply don't... don't..." she paused, her eyes fading a little, "Look, are you here for a reason? If you've lost something, there's little I can do."
She narrowed her eyes, furrowed her brow and raised her tail an inch higher.

The black wolf squinted his eyes, and flicked the end of his tail. "A rather unfortunate ideology. What good does anything do, hiding in the shadows? Afraid of random people- too easy to attract people to really be afraid of." Phib tilted his head. A peculiar sort, yet she seemed almost familiar. He could not connect the sibling relations- but he had in fact met one of this female's siblings, Sigrid. He might have found it strange to find them related. "It seems to me that you don't want to grow up, if you cannot leave your mother's old den?"

And in response to himself, he swayed somewhat to the side, and lowly chuckled. "No, I have lost nothing. I simply roam now and then, when time permits me to be from my land."

"Too afraid to grow up? Hmm, maybe it's true. I can't deny it, really, though I'd like to speak otherwise. I guess I'm just too used to sleeping by the den. If I venture too far from it, I begin to miss the scents of my childhood greatly. I guess I'm just hoping that they'll return, someday. My mother and siblings, I mean. But my father... he... he can just go to he-..." Amani stopped herself before she could finish her sentence, then sighed, " I guess being in solitude for so long has left me a little jumpy. But enough about my problems," she laughed, "Hmmph, you seem to have gotten a life's story out of me. What was your name?"
Amani waited for the stranger to speak. No longer did the scars on his nose and chest frighten her. His voice was slightly calming. It had certainly been a long time since she had met anyone like him.
"What's it like beyond this stretch of land?" she asked again, tail flicking from side-to-side.

The black wolf twitched his ears. "Your parents have left you?" It perhaps would have been more tragic had she been younger- although on closer inspection, she did barely seem to be into adulthood. And a vengeance against the father; which, perhaps if he had known the father, he might have understood. But such animosity was not unfamiliar to him of all people, so he reflected upon it with a quizzical expression, settling himself down beside the tree, and leaning his weight against his left shoulder.

A low chuckled rumbled from his throat, and the black wolf adjusted the girth of his ears. "Ah, I have a habit of doing that," He remarked. Which was true, in one sense. He did have a habit of not only attracting life stories, but poking around for them as well. Perhaps it was a hobby of the old king's. "I am Phib." He spoke, nodding his head somewhat officiously. "And yours?" He questioned.

The wolf turned, glancing into the direction she mentioned. "That way?" He remarked, and flicked his tail. "Mountains, a bit further. To the west, mostly grasslands. To the east, more mountains, and to the south, the sea. My lands are in the south." A slight smile encrouched upon his broad snout. "But, other then that, I am sure it's not all that different from this place here." As if in demonstration, he tapped his paw upon the earth.

(( ^^'' Ah! Sorry about the delay! -is shot- ))

Amani flinched a little at the mention of 'parents', but recovered with a small nod.
"It was time to leave. Everyone's just kind of went their own way," she sighed, "...they will return, though. When they come back, we're going to all have one heck of a conversation!"
Amani's tension was slowly melting away. In a sense, she now felt more alive than usual. She was actually conversing with someone whom she had not grown up with, and though many would consider it nothing special... to Amani, it was a new experience.
"I'm Amani," she smiled weakly, "Nice to meet you, Phib. Though, maybe it would've been best to meet you at a time when I wasn't reeking of... angst."
At this, she chuckled a little and lifted her head up higher.
"You're at home in the South? Hmn, I see. Well, though the landscape may look the same as where I am, the wolves are not. Is that correct? Phib, you seem like a traveller... do you meet many wolves?"

Amani was not just trying to make polite conversation anymore. Her confidence boosted, she now had a motive. She would ask her question. Maybe this 'Phib' would know the answer...

"For myself?" Amani repeated, then gave a grin, "Not really. Can't say I have many aspirations right now. I don't know what to do with myself. I've basically been living my life... just waiting."
'But all that might change sooner than I expect,' she thought to herself, bitterly, flicking one ear sadly, 'I may have to start moving soon...'
Amani was suddenly jerked back to reality as Phib spoke once again, his smooth voice slicing through her thoughts as cleanly as a knife would to butter. There it was again, that calm tone of his. It made her think about how insecure she must seem... her tone was not at all like his, but more on the shaky side.
Bah, there she was again. Her mind certainly did wander.
"Did you say something about the ocean?" Amani asked sheepishly, for she had not been completely listening. She had heard bad things about the ocean (and many a description), but she could still not visualise it completely.
"Your packlands are situated near the ocean? My... isn't the ocean just a deep, gigantic puddle? A puddle that tastes and smells of salty rocks? It's meant to be a terrible place, isn't it? You drink from it, but it only makes you thirst greater..."
She paused.
"And, yeah. I'm glad I'm not the worst you've met. I wouldn't know... I've not meant many wolves, as you should already know."

Amani, upon hearing Phib's thoughts on the large water, laughed. Did Phib have a certain respect for the ocean? Maybe.
"Well, even though I may speak badly of that great puddle, I'm sure I'll never know much about it before I see it with my own pair of eyes. I guess a border would be good, especially for a wolf with his own pack," she grinned, taking a quick sniff of the air about her, hoping to catch the 'legendary' scent of the ocean. She could not smell anything, however, and shrugged it off sadly.
'I guess I should go and see it myself sometime,' she thought, a little bitterly, '...rather than wishing for it to come to see me."
Instead, she looked back up at Phib. Now came the question she needed to ask of him... as a traveller, Phib may have learnt many things about the wolves around him. He seemed, to Amani, that he knew so much, but this could have been because she knew much less of the world beyond the den. By asking this question, she could sound desperate... but what was pride to her? Amani decided that she would ask. There was nothing to loose, and maybe, just maybe, Phib might know the answer.

"Listen, Phib. There's something I've been meaning to ask," her voice strengthened a little, "...have you... ever met any of my relations? My family, I mean. Ever since I have been waiting at the den, I always thought to myself, 'Where would they be right now?' and 'What would they be like right now, after growing and changing so much?'. I guess it's time to stop waiting and do something. It's a great stroke of luck that one who travels across the forests would stumble across me, you see. So, if you know anything?..."

Amani looked up at Phib, eyes glittering with hope. She had wanted to know. She had wanted to know the answer so badly. Yet she had been afraid to seek it out herself.

But now... now was the time to move.

Phib furrowed his brow, and gave the smaller female a little look-see. She did in fact look somewhat familiar- and although it would take the old king a few moments to realize it, he had in fact met quite a few members of this female's family. He was friends with her grandfather- a wolf that she might have never met. Her sister Naib was even apart of his pack, and he had spoken to Sigrid on sparse occasions. Soul herself was well known in the wood. But such were things that did not automatically come upon him, for although there was familiar similarity between the wolves, many wolves did look alike.

"Your family?" He remarked, and swayed the end of his tail. "Well, that would depend- I am no mind reader. Who is in your family for me to have met?" Perhaps this was a bit disheartening to the female, and he shook his head. "I do know many people though. But, I do not know blood relations quite as well. I'd need names."

"Ah," Amani turned away, suddenly embarrassed, "Well, I thought that, maybe, you'd be able to tell. But I guess even the family scent has changed, with time passing so quickly. Names, names... it's been a long time. Names are so hard for me to remember, even the names of my own blood. It's strange, eh?"
She sat down again, hesitated, and slowly lifted her hind leg towards her face, scratching her ear thoughtfully.
"My sister," she muttered, after a bit of thought, "was named 'Sigrid', I'm sure. I remember her name quite clearly. As for my brothers, there was a 'Rhesus' and a 'N...N...'," she paused, lowered her leg and nodded, speaking aloud with a little more enthusiasm, "'Naib'! That's right, it was Naib. My mother's name is 'Soul'. Do you know them, Phib? Do you know where I may be able to find them?!"
Amani's voice was not at all that desperate, but was instead slightly 'hopeful'. She wanted to find them. She needed to find them. Maybe meeting Phib was a sign... something was telling her that she needed to move away from the den and travel.
