Same - I got this random PM once asking for gold. The person was a complete n00b and I didn't even know them. I was not happy.
On the other hand, I met a really nice newbie in CB once who could actually spell/grammatise/punctuate decently. She didn't ask for donations or anything, but a few other people and I ended up giving her a half-decent starter outfit because she was just so cool, a rare find in the CB.
