The air was changing and a new season would soon brake. It was sad really to see the beauty of spring go but it had to happen. Soon enough it would become very hot. The heat would take with it all the moister and dew drops that made the garden glow which just added to the sadness of it all. The work load would increase as well. Even more so for Copper. She could see it now the garden in the Golden Circle was vast and she was truly grateful she would not have to keep it watered all on her own.
With a sad sigh she flicked her ears up trying to make the best of the last few days of the spring like weather she had. Today she had a plan to search the garden for anything of interest. Yes that was pretty vague a task but sometimes the magic of the wonderful garden could surprise even it's caretakers.
Hopping out of her burrow, Copper makes her way towards her favorite place. The garden held many spots of peace and joy but Copper found the section closest to the apple trees to be most peaceful. Maybe is was the sweet smell of apples or the way the plants of the garden and the trees sang and swayed together in the wind but it was just the best place of all for Copper.
"Aww I just love it here." Copper voiced to the area and took a deep healing breath in as she allowed the peace of the area to fill her lungs. She really just could not get over how blessed she felt to be a herb gather and get to work is such a garden. "Well I better set to work." she smiled at the idea of finding something new or even something the warren might need.
With small hops and nose smelling the air, Copper began her search in a peaceful at ease way. This was for fun after all. A soft warm breezy stirs that air caring with a smell. Coppers nose twitches and the she smiles happily. She knows that smell. "Mushrooms." she says out loud with excitement. She loves mushrooms. There are so many varieties and colors in the spices of mushrooms. Hopping off in the direction of the smell she carefully begins looking all around for the delicate treat.
She spots the mushroom she has smelled at the bases of trees in shelf-like clusters. "Yummy what a good find. Hen-of-the-wood is one of my favs." Copper says as she inspects the mushrooms. Copper looks for the the tell tell signs that the mushroom is in fact the Hen-of-the-woods because mushrooms can be tricky. "Yep you are grayish-brown in color and have the underside on the caps and branch-like stalk are white. I think you are safe to eat." She talks to herself as she carefully checks.
Gathering up some but not all she makes a mental note of her surroundings so she can come back next season for some more of these mushrooms. "Ill she you later." she calls to the the patch and then begins her walk home. " I think ill take these to the golden circle cook and maybe we can have mushroom for dinner tonight." she day dreams. With exciting thought she happily heads back home.
