Time had passed from the dull and frightened emotions Onora felt returning to her small home in Matori, and were now replaced with the warmth, and friendliness she once knew with her people. It was changed though, adapted into what Tendaji had now become. There were mingled races, even hybrids of some, some people had apologetic pasts, and everyone knew they had a very colorful future. Onora had seen it all since her life blossomed. She had met so many different people, from all over the world, some even staying to taste her food. They would come and go as they pleased and would have so many stories to share. Some were more dangerous than others, but even then reminiscing with friends always ended in a laugh. A smile crept on her face knowing, where ever her parents were now, they would sure be proud.
Since originally returning from Oba, she had stayed in her home settlement, not wanting to leave in case her family would return. Though after this time pastes, these last five years, that feeling slowly dwindled until it didn't come into her thoughts. She wasn't upset though, that emotion had past fairly early, and had already accepted that there was a small chance her parents would come back. Her heart felt that weather or not her parents were still traversing this world, they would not want her to stay put for them. She had to use her life to do what made her happy, and if one day their paths did cross once more, there would be so much time to catch up again.
The large girl entered her small but efficient kitchen, the fire already going with a large pot of almost boiling water. She thought of the people she had once fed and those she would be able to feed in her future, as her hands went to work adding her favorite spices and herbs. The clear liquid slowly changed in color, from a cream to a honey color. She was comfortable in her home, the one she was raised in since she was a child, but she knew if she really wanted to become as good of a cook her father was, she would have to travel and try what the other lands had to offer.
Her lips tasted the thick amber sauce, tasting the flavor and complexity of her food, wanting it to be perfect when served as always. After a couple more small adjustments, it seemed it was ready for her friends and town, and took the large pot off the direct flames. She kept it close, though, as to not have cold food.
She opened her doors and throughout her morning she served her meal to all who asked. There were many familiar faces, and even some who were still new to her. Onora's mind kept racing though, wondering what she would see in the north and west. She had learned some Oban cuisines, but had no idea what the others had to taste and create. Being in one of the mainland settlements would make her journey a bit easier as she was close to the boarders, and knew she would start with Sauti, the closest to her home.
Some time had passed since she began with her meals, and soon the pot was empty with a couple of spoonfuls left. She thanked all who stayed and chatted with her and then heaved the container on her hip. She moved with ease, used to this weight, and moved her way back inside. Tying her long hair back in a thick ribbon , the large girl got to work once more on cleaning this thing, not needing any critters entering her home while she is gone. Her hands felt the food residue that was left behind and worked it out of the clay, until it was smooth and clean once more. She then worked on the handles, and her mind drifted to her upcoming journey again. She wondered who she would meet, what would happen, and what she would experience all at once.
The sun was now almost at it's highest when Onora finally stood up stretching her back, wiping her hands on her apron. Her eyes looked around the room, searching what she should bring with her. After gathering some food and supplies, she looked out her small hut window, determination now swelling within her. She was ready to start this new chapter in her life, and she knew it was going to occur soon. She just hoped the world was ready for her as well.
