The Swiftfell Pack PresentsThe wind stirred the leaves from the forest floor so recently fallen--a beautiful array of orange, yellow, browns, and reds, spiraling in sweeping motions until they came to rest on the bramble once more. They were disturbed then by dark brown paws slowly making their way towards the gathering of wolves. The group created static in the air--excitement, tension, impatience--muling around, chatting about the oncoming event. It had been long in progress. First discussions were had, then planning, and now for the first time since the pack had settled into their new territory... a hare hunt!
You see... Swiftfell wolves were known for speed. Their lean bodies make them able to run as if soaring through the air, much like their namesake, the swift. But the hare hunt allows the wolves to compete--in a relatively friendly fashion--by showing not only their agility, but their prowess as well. A hare whose tail has been marked with red dye is let loose in the pack territory to be hunted by the wolves who've chosen to prove themselves. The winner gains distinction amongst their fellow wolves, will be offered meals first (after the point), in addition to gaining the notice of alpha as especially talented.
And so we find ourselves here, in a new territory. The Swiftfell are starting over after their numbers were decimated and, in doing so, reviving this old tradition. With that said... let the Hare Hunt... begin! _____________________________________________________________Begins: October 23, 2019 | Ends: ???

The Hare Hunt takes the form of a "Chose Your Own Adventure" (CYOA) game in which players are given a series of role play prompts involving their hunt of the allusive hare. Rather than taking the form of eliminations, this game will use a point system demonstrated after the first prompt is answered and the consequences of each choice is revealed.
The event will begin with sign ups. Each user may enter up to two wolves in this contest. For in-canon reasons, your wolf(ves) must be in existence within the shop (i.e. NPCs are not allowed) and participants must be official pack members of Swiftfell (the pack does not allow outsiders to participate in pack events). If you have entered two wolves into the contest, each wolf must respond to the prompt in seperate posts. If you do not have a wolf able to participate, but would like to, message In Good Faith.
Once sign ups close, the event will kick off with a prompt. You will then have twenty-four (24) hours to respond to the prompt with one of three options (A, B, or C). One of the options will lead you toward the hare, one away from the hare, and one is a wild card.
Using the form provided with each prompt, you must submit a role played response for each wolf participating. You may use this event towards your wolf’s RP count so long as you provide a minimum 250-word response—though you may write as little or as much as you like for the purposes of this event.
You may edit your choice up until the 24-hour window closes. At that time, staff will record your choices and announce the consequences of each action.
The goal is to reach the hare in four "rounds." If none of the participants are able to accomplish this, the event will continue until a winner is determined.

Ever since Mourning Dove had become a hunter, she knew that she wanted to do great things. Of course, feeding her pack was great enough, but she really wanted to shine. She'd forgotten that for a while, after her mother's passing, but with the aid of her pack mates, she was ready to strive for greatness again.
So, when the Hare Hunt approached, she was among the first to step up. She smiled at Ghost Whisper when she saw the other she-wolf, but quickly turned her attention to where she would be voicing her name to the others in order to declare her desire to race for the hare.

(edit) Sign ups will remain open until the first prompt is posted! The first prompt will be posted today at 7pm CST. You will then have 24-hours to respond to the prompt (further instructions will be provided at that time). Here is a time conversion website for your convenience. I will also have my own wolf, Red Oak, participating so we have a little more diversity in the hunt. But don’t worry! OOCly, he is simply there to encourage role play and make the event as authentic ICly as possible! Prepare to warm up, pack. wink

The sky was gray, dense clouds floating over the horizon. It cast a dim light in the forest, despite it was mid-day, dulling the brilliant colors of the dying leaves which riddled the forest trees and floor. The scent of moisture in the air threatened rain, but for the moment, all was dry.
Pack alpha, Thrush, looked at the group of wolves with pleasure. Nearly half the pack at turned out to compete in the first Hare Hunt in the new territory. It would be an especially challenging one, he thought, given they were still learning the nooks and craneys of this part of the forest.
The hare had been a particularly lively one, taking both he and Willow Bark in order to subdue it long enough to paint its tail. Thrush spoke then, a smear of red dye showing on his cheek. "Pack! Welcome to the first Hare Hunt in our new home. Today we come together in healthy competition," he paused to smirk, noticing the glimmer of spirit in the eyes of the younger wolves, "to capture the hare which has been marked as your prey. Stand at the ready!"
With the tension thick in the air, silence fell in totality, save for the quiet whistle of the wind as it drifted through the trees. Not a breath was spared, a muscle moved.
A ripping howl rose through the forest... and the hare hunt began.
The alpha has given the signal and only after the slightest hesitation, you and the other seven competitors are off. You had known this event was coming for sometime and, therefore, it would be expected that you had developed some sort of strategy; practiced in someway. Or perhaps you just thought you'd wing it, deciding last minute to join in on the fun. In either case, you are now on your own, snuffling through the woods, attempting to pick up the trail of the hare. How do you start?
A. Nose to the ground, you move swiftly through the bramble in the hopes of picking up the scent.
B. You break off from the rest of the pack, moving speedily through the forest. You don't want them able to steal your victory if they're close by when you find the hare!
C. You know at least three of the competitors are hunters for the pack--maybe even you, yourself, are! You follow the lead of those pack mates while keeping your eyes peeled for a flash of red in the grey, brown forest light.
