He had found the charm Starry gave him prior to the party. It had been hiding under his sketchbook in his bag. Lucky for him, it was now on his neck and the winter pony was at least surviving.
Absently, he headed to the left, not yet noticing the others who did so. He was too... what was the word? Nervous? No. Apprehensive? Yes. He wasn't the traveler of the family. That was his dad, Artemis. Why was he the one to meet a strange pony and go on an adventure? His dad was the one with the stories. Not him -- a boring pony who kept his nose in a book. His birds all laid on his back, snoozing peacefully. At least he had company until he saw Starry again.
Where was she? He checked his phone. No reception -- well, great. Sighing internally, Dipper pushed hair from his face as he considered his options. Either he'd help the strange pony, as he was currently doing, or he could leave. Of course he couldn't do that, so it seemed he'd be the one finding a story to tell.
It all felt so weird, really. In the letters with his dad his stories were always the same; "I drew. I saw Starry. I didn't do anything." Now here it was -- something. His next letter should be interesting at least.

If you went straight...
The path continues into the trees, and the dense brush overheard makes the trail seem to glow red. Even the blue colored ponies of the group are cast in a more purple light, embers of dancing leaves twisting the colors every which way. Overhead, you hear a bird cry, and then... nothing.
That's not a good sign.
Roll 1d4:
1-2: You follow where you think you heard the bird come from. You head to the right.
3-4: You follow where you think you heard the bird come from. You head to the left.
If you went left... There is a more open view of the sun through the treetops, and this way certainly seems hotter than the others. No pony would willingly head this way, you think... but what if it wasn't a choice? If these ponies really are in danger, really are sick and in need of help, they might not have made the call themselves. It could be any of number of things.
Along the winding trail, you spot a river that splits away from the path. In the dull, crimson light it seems red itself, which is... unnerving. But it's just water, and you all know that. It could certainly be a safe, cool place for any pony to try and find sanctuary.
Roll 1d4
1-2: You follow the river down and away from the trail. 3-4: You stay true to the trail and carry on ahead.
Nymphiea hey. hey look at me. b***h.
If you went right...
The path to the right stretches on... and on... and on... it's rather unnerving, how long you seem to be walking straight. It could be your eyes playing tricks on you, but you swear you've passed that same tree before. What are you going to do...?
Roll 1d4. 1: You keep going, undaunted. 2-3: You stop, pick up a nearby stone, and carve a symbol into the tree to mark your way. 4: You turn back. Next turn, you will be back at the entrance and try again!
