With spring had come the thawing of lakes and rivers and ponds, and with that thawing came the chance for a certain aquatic foal to get in some swim time. She felt the need to swim in her veins grow stronger with each day and, although the family had a massive tub inside their home for when she wanted to soak, large bodies of water called to Seastone Embers.
So it was as she walked along the bottom of the local park pond that she felt happiness, watching small bubbles float up to the surface with her movements. She was looking for some pretty shells, or stones, or whatever really she could use later. Maybe presents for her dads, or something for Firelight? Or maybe even something to lure people in to play a bit more?

Cherry Opal found herself in the park again on a lovely spring day. She was out and about with her father's trusted Owlgriff, Marble. Marble swooped around the foal and along side the pond. Opal found herself staring into the water again. Looking at the bugs and fish that she could see just under the surface.

It took a few moments for Seastone to notice that the area around her looked different, like it was a little darker. A glance up didn't really yield anything since she was too far down to see the surface, but for what it was worth she could tell changes had happened. Kicking off from the lake bed, the little aquatic was careful in her approach as the waters around her started to grow a bit lighter. Her dad had always told her to go slow or else she risked jumping out and hurting herself on the landing; it'd taken quite a few bruised flanks to properly understand the warning. As she neared the top and more light filtered in she found herself staring face to face with another foal, or rather she was beneath the water and looking up and one who was looking down. The fish that had been inhabiting the area quickly scattered, and Seastone let out a faint tsk over them not being there to be played with. Still, it wasn't a total wash as it was a foal and not just a weird reflection like she'd thought for a second, and the aquatic smiled as she positioned herself just enough beneath the water to almost mirror the surface pony.

Cherry watched the fish scatter with curiosity. She blinked and suddenly eyes were staring back at her? They looked too small to be mom's. She cocked her head in confusion. "Hullo?"

Softly, slowly, Seastone started to rise from the water....only to squirt a mouthful of it up and into the face of the poor unsuspecting foal. Gleefully the aquatic cackled before diving herself back down, pushing away just in case the other pony wanted to try and get revenge. It didn't look like they could swim very well, if at all, and Seastone was practically a fish in water. Or something like that, as her dad would say. Judging that she was at a safe enough distance, the filly popped her head back up and looked at the poor pony she'd just spit all over. The laughter continued, almost as though she wanted the other to know it hadn't been done entirely out of meanness.

Cherry was shocked. SHOCKED. That she was wet now. The eyes in the water scared her fish away and then spat water at her. She was still a really young foal so she pouted and wished Melty was nearby so she could beg for ice cream. Marble the owlgriff swooped over the head sticking out of the water and started squawking at Seastone furiously.

"Buggfdff!!!" Seastone hadn't really been expecting to get swooped on and squawked at by an animal when she poked her head up, and so quickly the aquatic dove back down. When she emerged a few seconds later she shot water again at the Owlgriff, her aim rather decent if she did say so herself. She hadn't meant any harm and water wasn't painful, so why was she being punished? It didn't make sense and the little filly felt angry over it. Not angry enough to do something about it, but enough that she was blowing bubbles on the water's surface. "Was just a joke."

After Marble was sure the Aquatic had be screamed at enough, she settled down beside Cherry. Who was trying not to tear up. For a Dragon, Cherry liked admiring the water and the treasures found underneath it. She just didn't want to be in it. "Didn't seem like it.."

"Spit water at Firelight all the time and she likes it. You're just weird about it." Seastone did have a nasty habit of spitting water at everyone and despite Fireside's best efforts to control it the filly continued doing whatever she wanted to do. Also maybe Firelight didn't really like it but Seastone wouldn't have noticed if she complained because she sort of bowled over her sister most of the time. Still she blew bubbles on the water's surface, all the while drifting a little bit closer. Seastone may have played a prank but she wasn't outright mean or cruel; she wanted to play and make friends.

"Well I'm not Firelight!" She crossed her arms with a grunt. "Go spit water at them."

The bubbles only grew in intensity as Seastone spit more into them, her tail wagging beneath the water in some sign of irritation. Eventually the little aquatic dove back under, vanishing from the surface entirely. Had she given up on playing, or was she off to sulk on her on? The answer of course was neither, as she emerged near the dragon foal once more, though this time with someone in hoof rather than a mouthful of water. ". . . .m sorry."The blush of shame on her cheeks indicated that she likely meant her words, as did the offering she carried towards the other filly; a small yet still entirely intact opalescent seashell.

When Cherry heard the Aquatic dive, she opened one eye with curiosity and then tried to act like she wasn't looking when Seastone resurfaced. Marble tightened her stance close to little Opal. With the apology, Cherry returned further attention to Seastone. They had a small shining shell which reminded her of her mother. Cherry was fascinated. "ooh..um..Thanks." She responded sheepishly. She gently handled the shell to get a better look at it. "My name's Cherry Opal." She stated after a little while.

"You can keep it, if you want to." The shell was clearly Seastone's attempt at apologizing in an adult way through the eyes of a child. She'd seen many adult stallions and mares give people gifts when they'd upset them and so her mind translated that this was the best route to show how sorry she was for spitting water. Even if, really, she didn't understand the big deal about it. It was only water after all and it wasn't like her mouth was super dirty. Maybe. "I think it's really pretty an' you're pretty too. You match." Flattery also seemed to work at cheering people up and getting forgiveness; thankfully Seatone was an honest sort who meant what she was saying. "An' I'm Seastone Embers. My papa calls me Ember sometimes."Her dads called her quite a few things depending on her actions.
