- ↳ Chen is a "battery" of magical energy, quite literally. He passively regenerates large amounts of magic energy over time by an amount based off of his control stat. As a side effect of this raiment, this allows Chen to utilize and cast more spells because of all the excess energy he produces. In addition, Chen can also transfer his reserves to another person within range based off of his range stat..
The downside to this is that because he's constantly charging energy, Chen has to find a way to expend the energy so he doesn't overfill. Allowing his magic to overfill can cause him to lose control and harm himself. This overfilled state places a tremendous toll on his body which begins to eat away at his form. Skin will begin to wither and dissipate into the natural world starting at the affected parts of his body.

When upset he trusts in his emotions and ends up in a frenzy. A quirk that many have noticed that the boy tends to avoid eye contact for anything longer than a few seconds. He speaks softly and with almost a faint whisper-like voice. When he's very nervous, Chen fiddles with his hands.

- ↳ Chen Barret is the lone son of the Valor Captain, Averitt Barret, whose wife sadly passed away after the birth of her son. With the family line at an utter end because of the struggle against Trendel, Averitt placed all of his hopes for continuing the family through to his young son. Chen would be eager to please his father and seemed to have a fairly normal upbringing until the discovery of his raiment. With this ability to use his life force to heal another, he would see it as a gift for him to help the world. Yet when it came time for him to select a proper female to begin courtship several problems began to arise. For one, Chen hardly seemed interested in any females his age. His time was spent sparring with friends, studying or even napping. There was some backlash between father and son as he argued his position for why none interested him. Height, weight, posture, accent, heritage, every excuse in the book was given.
During his 16th year, Chen met a boy a year older than him named Tristram Grant, a squire from a lowly family of peasants. The two had met during a visit to the smith and quickly hit off well. The friendship went along as he soon developed feelings for the boy, a romance blossoming shortly after. This was carried out in private as Chen feared what his father would do upon learning of his decision. This secret lied in waiting for years until one night, they were caught in the act by Chen's father. Furious about his son's secret, he had Tristam dragged to parts unknown and forced his son to stay in his quarters. A month would pass as Averitt pondered what to do with his son. Believing that his son had little experience out of Valor, he was sent far away to the Academy of Eoana. It was there that he believed his son would finally take his role of continuing their family line seriously.
