Virgil gave a cheeky grin after his cheek was kissed. "See? I ain't completely useless." Some of his own self-deprecating humor shown through. He quickly found it was better to watch Marcel fiddle with his phone than it was to acknowledge the giant black hole of darkness before them. Honestly, he should have realized what going underground would do to him. Even now he refused to acknowledge the anxiety beginning to blossom in his chest. His head dipped in with a small nod as he agreed with him. They'd only known each other for a few days, he thought it would be a really shitty end to their relationship if the house collapsed on them! "After ya then..." Muttering, he moved to trail after him, managing to make it just inside the doorway before his heart and stomach crawled their way into his throat. For all intent and purpose, he might as well be being dragged to the yakuza's underground facility where they kept and tortured their victims until they died or they grew bored of them as children did with their toys. Virgil hunkered in on himself as while he stood frozen in place, struggling to keep his rising panic from completely taking control. The sound of his lover's voice coming from further down allowed him to pull himself out the dark thoughts whispering to him and gave him the strength to go further inside. He stopped again at the bottom of the steps, locking his eyes on the silhouette of Marcel not too far away while he pulled out his own phone to access the flashlight app. It wasn't the darkness he was so afraid of. Rather, he had an unrealistic fear of dim fluorescent flickering on and the doors slamming shut behind him. He murmured more so to himself as he let out the breath he was holding. Virgil did his best to concentrate on what he could see, finding the different animals skulls on display pretty interesting until he spotted the wolf ones. One or two wouldn't be so bad but he thought he could count enough to add up members of a small pack. "Didn't know there were wolves in th' area...Well, guess that would explain why." Which was just depressing to him. Out of all the various canines, they were really the only ones that would have anything to do with him. But maybe there was a chance there could still be some out there somewhere in the park. Fearing he might actually have a nervous break now if he went any further, he remained where he was. "Doesn't look like th' people 'ere shared th' same fate as th' villagers." Virgil felt he might be stating the obvious, but he couldn't help it. It was getting difficult for him to breathe, much less think at the moment. But he was going to ******** pretend everything was alright. The last thing he wanted to was to spoil any fun Marcel was having or make him worry about him. Not that he could exactly control the physical signs like how pale he'd become and no matter how much he tensed his muscles he was still shaking. He would be hyperventilating if he wasn't controlling his breathing, taking slow yet shallow breaths that didn't match his hammering heartbeat. "Hate t'say it...it's kinda disappointin' we didn't find an answer t'what happened there." Not knowing exactly befell the village was going to bug him for a while.

Marcel wandered the basement with interest and intrigue, getting up close and getting a close look at each of the different items that were on display down there. A macabre museum of sorts and Marcel was eating this all up without even batting an eye at at how dark and cold the area was. However as he heard Virgil speak the Hispanic quickly turned his gaze away from all the skulls on display and saw Virgil standing at the bottom of the steps. Oh no. How could he have possibly forgotten already!? Marcel would frown a bit to step away from the skulls and began to walk up to Virgil, waving his hand dismissively at the moment. Who cares if they didn't find any answers? Here he was enjoying himself and Virgil looked like he was on the brink of a full on breakdown "Oh Virgil, you don't have to come down here with me! Some lover I am, I was so wrapped up in snooping around I nearly forgot about your claustrophobia. I'm sorry" he apologized before pausing for a moment and leaned up to place a couple soft kisses along his throat to possibly help ease his nerves "I'm already almost done down here, just go outside with the fresh air and I'll be out in another minute or two. Don't force yourself for me, I'm just looking for a little trinket to take with us back home. A memoir of our adventure today!" the Hispanic assured his lover and gave a small smile before turning back to the darkness unperturbed by it, looking over his shoulder for a moment "How about I give you play by plays so you know what's going on? I'll let you know if I find something neat!" Marcel would offer the other man to hopefully quell any worries the older man might have about him being in a decrepit, and rotted basement. The Hispanic would give one final nod before beginning to vanish into the darkness, his flashlight shining the way forward.

As he explored a bit deeper in the basement something did stick out to him as he searched, a shelf that seemed so odd and out of place against the wall as he jutted out unnaturally "Hey I found a bookcase, it looks to be covering something up...!" Marcel called out so Virgil could get a grasp on what was happening. He would then proceed to begin moving the shelf aside which was thankfully easy due to the dirt floor it was sitting on. There sat a an old wooden door and Marcel would roll his eyes "How cliche! They were hiding a door behind the bookshelf!" he announced to Virgil before reaching down to turn the knob and much to his surprise it turned with no fuss "It's not locked..." Marcel spoke at a more normal tone to himself as he turned and opened the door. Suddenly just as it cracked open the sound of howling wolves came from the forest, echoing all the way down into the basement. Suddenly Marcel was weirdly feeling kind of apprehensive for some reason, wolves never usually howled during the day and honestly since when were wolves native to this area? But the Hispanic soldier pushed back the feeling of unease and opened the door only to be greeted by an odd smell that reached his nose, not of rot or decay but...chemicals? Just as he lifted his phone up to shine a light into the room Marcel's phone timed out the flashlight app, causing the Hispanic to cuss loudly "Oh for ******** sake!" he would quickly lift the phone up as he seemed to stutter and freeze for a moment. he turned the screen around for a moment to maybe light the room but to no avail, it barely lit up the ground at his feet and so he would turn it back around as he tried getting the flashlight app working again.

As he stood there in total blackness with only a glowing screen to light the area Marcel decided that he needed to speak to help calm his nerves now "Wouldn't you know, the ******** app timed out...or stopped working...or...whatever!" he called out with a nervous laugh before shaking his head as Marcel continued to fiddle with his phone "I swear this is the part of the movie where I get the light back on and the monster is right in my face and I vanish for half the movie, only to either be discovered miraculously alive or cut to pieces very much dead" Not. ********. Helpful. Marcel. Why the ******** did he have to say that!? Now he felt even more nervous as finally the flashlight app turned back on and he took one step into the hidden room only to see...a wall with a flag of sorts with some strange symbol on it. OK. Marcel would walk into the room fully and turned to the side, only to let out what was a cross between a horrified scream and a yelp. Sitting almost on an alter of sorts was a severed head in a jar, preserved by some old chemicals of some sort. However it wasn't just the fact that it was a severed head but the fact that the man's head was half mutated looking with the dead, milky white eyes staring straight ahead, almost like he was looking right at him. His face seemed to be frozen in a permanent snarl, he looked positively enraged even in death. As Marcel stepped forward he got a better look at the man, his jaw and nose seemed to be extended somewhat, almost like his body was changing. There was a lot of hair along his face and his ears looked a bit pointed and...suddenly Marcel felt a chill run down his spine as he slowly realized what he was looking at. It became especially clear when he noticed a single fang poking out of his mouth and Marcel let out a small breath. This was...the head of a Werewolf...kept as a trophy. His dark brown eyes then scanned the room and he began to notice more details, different bones and whatnot decorated the shelves, weapons of all kind all over the place. Most seemingly began to fall apart but the noticeably glistening blades and arrowheads still shone brilliantly in the florescent light like...silver. He would then notice the small treasure box that sat on the shelf underneath the head, almost like a secondary trophy. Marcel remained frozen for a moment as he remained silent, unsure of how to react to this new development.

Letting the other lead his hand over to the stump he took a few breaths as he blinked a bit just listening to the other tilting his head a bit. Hearing him Ritsuka could listened but he could feel that the other was blushing by what he said that he blushed himself from the fact that Sato would help him with anything in case he asked that he smiled tenderly before he followed after him. Slowly Ritsuka reached into the tree to feel for the cloths "I am happy to hear that you will help me, but also for you just being you. Ummm anything I can do to help you not fear things or anything close to possession or no? As well thank you for guiding me" he said tenderly letting the other lead his hand the whole time.

The touch of his lips against his neck helped tack the worse of the edge off. All Virgil could manage was a small noise in response to everything he was telling him, his expression forlorn and apologetic. He wanted to explore and share this experience with Marcel but his claustrophobia was preventing him from doing so. It was extremely frustrating for him. He nodded briefly to his idea of telling him what he found while he turned off his light and put his phone away. He was more afraid of any hazards lurking in the darkness than he was of the old and decaying basement around him, but he was just going to have to trust Marcel's judgment and hope there was nothing in there that could potentially hurt him. After watching him move out of sight, the werewolf turned around and all but fled up the stairs. As soon as he was outside, he crouched down and dropped his head into his hands as reality crashed down around him. Being out in the open and surrounded by the forest did little to soothe his fractured mind. Rather than relief, Virgil felt drained. Weak. Defeated. This whole time he had stubbornly and proudly stood in the believe the Amari family hadn't broken him. Beaten and tortured, but hadn't shattered his spirit. Now he knew it wasn't true. They had broken and stolen a piece of him he would never be able to repair or replace. A certain fearless confidence about himself and the world around him. It might be easier for Virgil to accept if he had more time to become accustomed to it and couldn't still freshly remember his life without this fear. In fact, he used to absolutely adore being underground and in small spaces. Natural dens with just enough space for him to comfortably fit his wolven body were some of his favorite places to curl up and nap. Never again though. With the sound of his Spaniard talking again, his erratic breathing finally started to ease. He latched onto what he was saying, trying to picture what the scene must look like. He might not be able to be there with him, but it was nice to think that Marcel was probably having a blast exploring the basement. Maybe he would even find what he wanted, a good memento to take back to the apartment to display as a trophy of their first camping trip.

His head jerked up as the howling suddenly cut through the air, seemingly coming from somewhere in the forest. The ********? He couldn't find any joy at hearing the sound, only finding it strange that this was the first time ever hearing wolves howling while in the park. A very creepy coincidence with everything they had found so far and while Marcel was poking around in the cellar decorated with skulls of an abandoned house. Just as he was preparing to howl back to see if he could get them to respond, he was distracted by the other man cussing his phone. "Everythin' okay?" He called back, his needless worry being put to rest as the other man began to explain what had happened. Virgil let out a weak laugh despite himself. Of course, his horror-loving boyfriend would actually think of some scenario like that! "Good thing this isn't ah movie." He would comment as he propped his chin on his palm. He was finally starting to feel better, at least enough to where he could calmly and patiently wait for the next update about what was happening down below. Too bad it didn't last. The unexpected and awful sound of fright had him immediately standing upright and taking a single step toward the basement's entrance. Though his claustrophobia might as well be a physical barrier in front of it since that was as far as he could make himself go. "Marcel?" When there was no immediate reply, several worse case scenarios rushed through his head. The veteran suddenly being cut into a bunch of little pieces by some unknown killer was just one of them. A high-pitched whining noise was made as he settled on pacing in a small circle like a caged animal.
"God, look at you. You're so useless. You couldn't protect Vivian and you can't protect him."
"Shut th' ******** up!" Virgil angrily snapped back at the voice while he froze and stared at the black hole before him. But it was the push he needed as it turned out. After one last second of hesitation, he forged ahead, taking the steps two at a time with little thought to what he actually was doing. He might as well be set on auto-pilot, possessed by a blind determination to reach him no matter what. It was much too dark for him to properly see his surroundings, but he could barely make out a faint glow coming from another room so he quickly headed toward it. Once he reached the room, his relief at finding Marcel alive and well just about floored him. A hand was planted against the wall to steady himself as he took a few to catch his breath, unable to keep from panting this time. "He-hey." The brute gasped out, forcing himself to speak so he wouldn't startle him. Now he could see that he was perfectly fine, panic born of a different source began to return. This time, though, his lover was a hell of a lot closer than the exit to this terrible basement.

Moving closer to him, a shaking hand reached out and clenched at the back of his shirt while he buried his face against his shoulder. A six two, muscular werewolf hiding behind a human like a frightened child. It would be comical if it wasn't so pathetic. Virgil tried to focus on the comforting scent of him rather in the smell of musky mildew common with shut-up rooms and chemicals. Wait...chemicals? Gathering what little courage he had left, he lifted his head to look around. Instantly came eye to eye with the milky gaze of the mutated head in the jar, too. He'd watched other shape-shifters change forms enough to know what it belonged to. Being killed mid transformation was no way to go. Poor son of a b***h. Upon noticing something glinting at the edge of the beam of light, he buried his head against into him again with a violent shudder. The former bounty hunter might not be able to recall exactly all that happened to him during his imprisonment, but the distinct sheen of a silver blade underneath light stood out in his mind. Virgil sniffled, finding it odd the dust in the room was bothering his sinuses since it had never happened before. And the slight sweating. It was too chilly for that. He wiped away moisture from a cheek, too overwhelmed to clue into the fact it was actually a few stray tears and not sweat. In all honesty, he wasn't doing great although, to his credit, he was managing to keep his s**t together. Kind of. Finding out he could somewhat cope with this problem as long as he stayed near Marcel was helping the most. Rather, his faith and trust in his partner helped. Nothing bad would happen as long as the soldier was there. And, oh god, he hated it. Having to rely on someone when he was left so raw and vulnerable was almost as bad claustrophobia itself. Letting go of his shirt, he tucked his hands into his pockets and focused on the dirt floor as he further committed to being quiet and sticking as close to him as he could without getting in his way. When caught between a rock and a hard place, anyone would pick the least painful option. This was it for him.

Marcel's gaze traveled around the room with a morbid curiosity as he wondered if there were anymore heads that were floating in jars. Thankfully that wasn't the case and it was only the one, it seemed to be the previous owners prized kill it seemed. How sick. Even if the man was a Werewolf the fact that he was willing to have something like this on open display like this was horrible. Maybe the Hispanic was a bit biased since his boyfriend was a Werewolf but still, taking anything resembling a human as a prize was just sick in his opinion. Marcel swore he thought he heard Virgil say something outside, like he was talking to himself or something. He knew he should say something, anything to comfort his lover but the Hispanic was almost mesmerized by everything in the room. It was like stepping into another time period, there was a couple old oil lamps still hanging on the walls, the weapons that were still mounted betrayed their age with the wood beginning to rot like the rest of the house. He hardly even registered the other presence until Virgil spoke in a gasp, causing Marcel to tear his gaze away from the room and to his lover with a surprised look on his face "Virgil? Why..." oh right, he did let out a shriek of fear earlier. The other man must have become worried but right now he simply stood there and let his Partner cling to him while he continued to look. However the sound of sniffing caught his attention and Marcel would look over his shoulder just as the other let go to see the tears on his face, even in the limited light his phone provided he could see it clear as day. The Hispanic felt his heart break at the sight, this was the first time he ever saw Virgil cry and the gravity of how horrible this must have been for Virgil came down on him hard. The other man forced himself to come down here just to make sure he was safe despite the crippling fear he knew the the Werewolf had "Virgil..." he quickly gathered the other man into his arms and held him for a few moments, holding his head against his shoulder once again to hide his gaze from the area they were in "It'll be OK...you're OK..." he didn't know what else to say at this moment but to try and comfort the other man. After a moment Marcel would release Virgil and turned back to the head and more importantly the small chest underneath the head. He didn't know what was in it but even if it was nothing, the chest itself was a neat little memento from their adventure. Marcel would then proceed to place his phone sideways in his mouth so that they wouldn't lose light. He'd then hold the small chest in one hand before grabbing Virgil with the other and began to all but rush to get them out of the basement as soon as possible.

It almost felt like a mad dash for the light as Marcel got both of them back out into the open air. He shoved his phone in his pocket after hitting the power button and dropped the small chest onto the ground before grabbing Virgil and pulling him into another tight embrace "You forced yourself down into that dingy basement for me, thank you Virgil. That was beyond brave of you..." he complimented the other man as he soothingly rubbed circles on his back, the image of the other man crying burnt into his mind "I've got you..." he planted a couple more kisses along the others neck as he held him, giving Virgil all the time he needed to calm himself. At least he would until he realized that they weren't alone. Marcel blinked as his gaze found it's way to a pack of wolves staring at the two men, the apparent leader of the pack stood at the forefront. His icy blue eyes staring at them with an unreadable look "Wolves..." he whispered to the other man as Marcel carefully pulled themselves apart. They didn't seem interested in hunting and yet the whole pack was there, if they wanted to hunt then they would have pounced on them already...right? Marcel felt a shiver of his own as he took a deep breath as he wasn't sure Virgil was completely OK yet, he needed to be strong just in case. However Marcel was caught off guard when the leader of the pack let out an odd chuffing noise as the others took a step back as the larger wolf slowly approached them and more specifically Virgil. The pack leader didn't even look at Marcel twice as the larger wolf began to sniff his Lover all around and the Hispanic was hesitant to do anything, the last thing he wanted to do was anger an entire pack of wolves.

Virgil continued to wipe at his face every now and then, still refusing to acknowledge the fact he was crying. He hadn't cried since Vivian's death and he wasn't doing it now! It was just allergies from all the dust! Well, that was what he was claiming and always would if this was ever mentioned. A low and pained whimper escaped from as his name was called, his heart sinking in further dejection. s**t. He hadn't wanted to bring more attention to himself, having hoped that Marcel would be too interested in his macabre discovery to notice his sorry state. He didn't resist the embrace for long at all though, letting him hold him and hide his faces while he clutched at the other man's sides. He concentrated every sense of his being on his lover in an attempt to calm himself down. The strong arms around him, the warmth of his body. The sound of his heartbeat and voice, and the way he smelled. He drank it all in and finally found some sense of peace and comfort even in while standing in a place, to him, was akin to a nightmare. He offered a small, mostly forced, smile once he pulled away to show he would be okay. As he went to grab his prize, Virgil stepped with him and reached out for an item from one of the display shelves that had caught and held his attention since he'd noticed it. It was a silver blade which was almost the same size as a combat knife. Remembering the masterful skill in with the soldier had wielded his knife in the fight with the demon, he thought it might be a smart idea to take it with them in case they ever had to fight something that wasn't human. Werewolves weren't the only race out there severely weak against the metal. As far as he knew, anyway. The knife would need to be cleaned and repaired, of course, but he knew how to do that. He was extremely careful as he picked it up, not wanting to take a chance on accidentally cutting himself. It would be a long and painful walk back to his truck if he did. Needless to say, when Marcel was ready to leave he didn't need to prod him twice. It was a challenge to remain by his side and not pull away from him to flee to safety as fast he could.

As soon as he set foot outside, he took a deep breath of the fresh air around them. Knowing Marcel was right there with him this time was more of a relief than it had the first time he'd gone outside by himself although his anxiety still clung to him. The knife was held out away from them as he was hugged again before he slipped it into a back pocket, giving in and wrapping his arms around him in return. All of his strength seemed to leave him as he sagged against the shorter man and nuzzled his face into the crook of his neck. Virgil was just going to take the compliment as it was. He didn't have the energy to argue that he wasn't brave or to even say anything else. He had only gone down there because he was had turned into one giant worry wart, apparently. Though when push came to shove, he knew his fear of losing the Hispanic in some way was far greater than any other. So maybe in some way, he was actually brave. His fingers gently clutched at his shirt once more when he first felt him pulling away, not caring as to why he might have whispered the word. As he realized it was quite pointless, Virgil let go and turned to see what held the man's attention now. Oh. Wolves. His lips pursed together a bit as he gave him a puzzled look, surprised by the pack's appearance. And the new knowledge there was actually wolves still in this country. He moved forward a little to put himself slightly in front of Marcel in case they did decide to attack. He doubted it would happen, figuring most wild animals would only attack people if they were desperate with hunger or felt the need to protect themselves. And he didn't plan on making the wolves feel threatened in any way. For a split second, his eyes met the artic blue gaze of the alpha before they lowered in a show of respect. Despite his own less than stellar mood, Virgil relaxed his posture as the wolf approached him. It was hard to properly communicate with body language while in his human form, but he would try. He didn't want to give the large predator the impression he was being completely submissive though he didn't want him to think he was another dominant wanting to take over the territory and be the boss either. Just a respectful visitor. Very respectful. As it began to sniff him, he couldn't help but wonder if he found his scent confusing. The Lycan always figured he smelled more wolfish than human by the way most animals reacted around him. He instinctively let out a whimper as the wolven creature continued its investigation. Unlike before, this one sounded friendly and almost playful. Because, damn it, yes...He did want some wolf buddies! Not that he would ever confess it. His gaze traveled back to the pack, the man smirking when he noticed two of them had moved a little bit ahead of the others. Since they were half the size of the rest of the pack, he was going to take a guess they were probably only a half a year old or so. How they slowly inched forward when they thought no one was watching and kept their bodies a bit closer to the ground was rather cute. "Guess teens are th' same all over." He spoke softly to not startle them as he looked to Marcel with a slight smirk. "Disobedient lil' shits." The pups were probably only curious, but still. An adult growled at them and one shot back to the rest of the group, but the second one simply flattened itself down completely and didn't move. He had to commend the little beast for its courage. The parents probably had one hell of a time trying to rein in its curiosity. Carefully, he turned a hand palm up and offered it out to the wolf while his other one reached out for Marcel. As interesting as this was to him, it was also nerve-wracking as he didn't want to do anything to provoke them. "I thought all th' wolves were extinct here...I'm glad t'see these guys' ancestors managed t'escape th' slaughter."

Marcel stood by nervously as the larger wolf seemed to take in interest in Virgil as he sniffed him all around. The Hispanic didn't quite know what to do in the moment and all h did was keep his eyes as far away from the wolves icy blues as possible. He knew that making eye contact with a wolf was a dangerous game and he didn't know a thing about wolf culture like Virgil did so he just left it to the professional. The Wolf seemed to take in each action of Virgil carefully as he sniffed the other man in every possible location, it must have been a bit confusing to the wolf since his lover was a Werewolf. But yet the wild animal simply stared at Virgil with contemplation and tilted his head a bit when he whimpered in a way Marcel hadn't heard before. Was he trying to make friends or something? Was he trying to communicate? The Hispanic was completely clueless as he decided that opening his big mouth would for once be a bad idea. Marcel hadn't even noticed the two younger wolves begin to inch forward until Virgil made his little comment and the Veteran's gaze shifted over to them and grinned a small bit "I guess so.." he spoke quietly with an amused look on his face as he watched at how they tried getting closer to them, only for one of the adults in the pack to growl at them. He did find it funny how one didn't scamper back like the other did, it reminded him of a petulant child in a way. Marcel would then turn his head to the side to see Virgil offer his hand to the wolf while also reaching out for his own, which the Hispanic happily took. The Wolf would simply sniff the others hand for a moment before slowly licking the palm of his hand before going up his arm. Marcel had no clue what this meant but it must have been a good thing, right? However his nerves began to wild then the Alpha's blue eyes landed on him and he would quickly avert his gaze as he began to sniff Marcel just as thoroughly as he did with Virgil. No way he could pull the Werewolf card, the wolf simply stared at him for a moment before going around and sniffed the Hispanic's entire lower half, causing him to squirm a bit uncomfortably before finally the wolf let out a small sound from the back of his throat before beginning to walk away, pausing to look at the open basement and sniff the air from the darkness before looking back at them for a moment. The larger wolf would then begin to walk off to the other side of the house, the rest of their pack following. He could see the younger wolves want to investigate the two of them themselves but a quick growl from the adults put them in line once again.

Marcel finally let out a breath that he didn't even realize he was holding as he glanced over at Virgil with a bewildered look on his face "I thought we were going to get mauled!" he finally spoke with a small but relived smile on his face before shaking his head "That's two close run ins with wild animals, I had the Buck, and you had the Wolf. If I didn't know any better I'd say we just met our spirit animals!" he laughed a bit in amusement before turning his own gaze back to the basement as he grew a bit more serious "That was weird though, I open the door to that backroom and the wolves suddenly howled?" he sighed a small bit and rubbed the back of his neck "Then come to find out there's a severed head of an old Werewolf down there? ******** man, go figure the house belonged to an old Werewolf hunter or something..." he thought that those were just a plot device to drive movies forward but now that he thought about it there was almost no doubt they were real. Werewolves were real so there's no way that there wouldn't be people who hunted them. He then shook his head a bit and grinned "Maybe it was a Werewolf who attacked that village? Hell, maybe it was that man in the jar?" he figured he might as well get Virgil's take on the idea, it seemed like a plausible possibility. A bit easy to say but hey, who really knew? Marcel would then remember his little prize that he took from the basement and picked it up off the ground and looked at the little latch on the front before flipping it open to reveal...some dried flowers? "The ********> he quirked an eyebrow at item that was kept in the box before holding it our for Virgil to look at "Any clue why they kept dried flowers in here?" he asked the other man, unable to identify the dried out purple flowers as wolfsbane.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Virgil half expected sharp teeth to bite down on his hand at any moment so he was surprised when the alpha licked him. He shivered as the hot tongue traveled up his arm, a grin breaking across his lips. He was no expert but he was going to take it as a sign that he liked him. At least a little bit. He squeezed Marcel's hand in reassurance when the wolf moved to investigate him even though it made him somewhat apprehensive to watch it happen. Having another wolf so close to his mate was driving primal and wolven part of him crazy. He managed to swallow the growl of warning threatening to spill, however. It was different than the times when someone tried to mess with or inappropriately touch the Spanish man, this time it bothered him because...Well, he couldn't quite figure it out. Maybe it was just his protective streak. He just knew he didn't like it all that much. It was fine for him to come and sniff him all over, but for it do that to Marcel without introducing himself or asking permission seem plain rude! He relaxed again and let out a soft sigh once the big canine finally moved away from them, his eyes trailing after them until they had all moved around the side of the house. "Aw, c'mon." Virgil rolled his eyes as he let go of his hand and turned to face him. "Ya watch t'many movies. We're were totally fine." As if he would have let the alpha get anywhere near them if he thought they were planning on attacking either of them. A wide grin broke out across his face. "Could be. Surprised ya even know about those...let's hope my spirit animal doesn't try t'eat yours." A fact of life he found amusing right at the moment. If it were true, the two animals would always be against one another unlike their human counterparts. His expression soon grew a bit serious while Marcel filled him on details he had missed earlier. "That is weird. Think they were tryin' t'warn ya?" But how could regular animals know about something they couldn't see? Unless they had their ways or weren't normal at all. The thought had him blinking and looking in the direction the pack had gone. There were the skulls down in the basement, maybe ghosts of those wolves or something? They all looked normal but he knew that didn't really mean much."Probably just ah coincidence, right?" That seemed like the more logical explanation. He grew silent as he listened to him trying to rationalize what the hunter's den and the village might have in common. "Ya might be onto somethin' there. Could explain why th' hunter bothered t'put his head in ah jar if th' guy had ah reputation for killin' folk..." He tilted his head to the side. "If he had ah taste for human flesh...he could've been th' thing that th' villagers sacrificed their children ta..." It didn't seem quite as likely as what Marcel had suggested but, like everything, there was no way of really knowing. This time, he wasn't going to suggest they go back to investigate. He never wanted to see that creepy tree again. Ever.

His curiosity nearly soared when he moved to pick up the box. He had wondered what was inside that damn thing since Marcel had first grabbed it and now it appeared they would find out what inside of it. He was ready to bet good money it was something gross like a dried out human heart or some other body part from the same body the head had came from. Virgil instantly backed up the moment the box was held out toward him, growling while he did. A dried out heart would have been better, in his opinion. "Wolfsbane." A hand reached out for the box only for him to pull it back at the last second. Smacking his memento out of his hands would be mean, no matter how much it unsettled him. He crossed his arms over his chest to help him resist the urge to destroy the small box. "Another thing used t'hunt my kind. I've heard different things about it...like it's supposed t'cure lycanthropy...ward against them..." He couldn't vouch for either of those claims. He had only moved away because it was one of the things the yakuza had used on him. So, in a way, it did work with at least warding against one werewolf. More or less."Th' only thing I know for certain is that it's th' only thing that's poisonous t'my kind...we'll die if we're not given th' antidote shortly after gettin' poisoned with it. Smear it on ah some kinda weapon an' it'll do th' job...it's nasty s**t." While Virgil explained, he kept nervously glancing toward the entrance to the basement. He was pretty calm now, but he would be a whole lot happier once they were far away from it. "But, darlin'..." He made sure to meet and hold the darker gaze. "Every part of th' plant is toxic t'all livin' things. I don't know if th' antidote I have for it will work for humans so be ********' careful with it, okay?" A part of him couldn't believe he was really going to let Marcel bring it home with them. In the end, it was up to the other to decide if he really was or not although the older man wasn't going to protest on whatever he chose. Reaching back, he pulled out the knife he'd grabbed. Knowing his bad luck, he would end up forgetting about it and get stabbed in the buttcheek by it when he sat down later. "'Course...this is your best shot." Virgil offered the silver knife out to him, presenting the end with the rotten hilt while the flat of the blade laid in his open palm. "Wounds caused by silver won't heal,...even if ya can't hit ah vital spot for ah one-shot kill, this will take us out of commission pretty quick." He wasn't just telling him this because he trusted him, he also wanted Marcel to know in case he ever lost control and needed to defend himself if every other way failed. "I'll have t'replace th' handle, but...What do ya think?" HIs opinion did matter since it was a gift meant for him.

Marcel couldn't help but roll his eyes a little bit at how calm Virgil was about being faced with a large pack of wolves "Hey! When faced with a bunch of animals that could kill me I gotta expect the worse!" he proclaimed in self defense when Virgil called him out on watching too many movies. That was completely beside the point! Of course Marcel's face grew a bit more amused however when Virgil let his surprise be known and he smirked a bit "What can I say? Watching a wide variety movies really clued me in on a few things!" he replied to the other man with a snarky tone. Watching an unhealthy amount of movies could help you learn a thing or two! He then shook his head with a smirk "I think they probably already came to blows, you saw the scars on that buck, he's seen his own battles!" personally he thought his was a lot cooler than just a regular old wolf! Once their conversation grew a bit more serious however Marcel would reach up and scratch his facial hair in though for a few moments before shrugging "Who knows, could be. But warn me about what? A severed head?" he sighed a little bit, today has turned out much differently than he thought it would. Of course Marcel simply nodded his head in agreement with Virgil at the moment "Yeah, let's just go with a coincidence, it makes the most sense..." did he completely believe it? Nope. But he was going to tell himself it was a coincidence just so that it wouldn't raise more questions that didn't have an answer. Marcel would then listen to Virgil agree with his suggestion, it honestly did make sense. An entire village ransacked and slaughtered would cause any hunter to be out for the blood of the culprit "If it is true then he must have caught him when his guard was down, maybe his den or hiding place since he was in mid transformation when he was killed..." by this point the Hispanic was just taking shots in the dark but it did seem to make the most sense. A werewolf came up here to escape from this..."Black Council" and their rules a long time ago and preyed on the people here before getting caught by a Werewolf hunter in the area. Or maybe the guy was just a poor werewolf who was killed for just what he was regardless of his crimes against people. They could only assume and guess at this point. Of course Marcel heard Virgil's other suggestion and thought on it for a moment and shook his head "Maybe, I don't think so but I doubt you'll let me go back to that tree to investigate!" he replied with a smirk, remembering how Virgil went out of his way to grab the Hispanic's arm to stop him from moving forward anymore.

Once the Hispanic saw Virgil's reaction to the dried out flower in the box he blinked a bit and pulled it back to look at it, noticing how Virgil nearly smacked the item out of his hands. He stared at the flower and listened to the other man explain all about how the Wolfsbane was used against werewolves. True to it's name it seemed like it was awful for a werewolf to be subjected to the stuff, odd how such an innocent looking flower got such a negative reaction from the other man. Of course when Virgil pointed out that the plant was just as poisonous to normal humans as it was werewolves Marcel simply grinned a bit "What? You think I'm gonna pop it in my mouth and chew it up?" he tried to lighten the mood with a snappy comeback but it seemed like Virgil had one more thing to cover as he brought out the silver knife for him to see. Marcel knew Virgil had grabbed something down there but in the darkness and limited light, he couldn't quite tell what it was and now that he knew the Hispanic frowned. He listened to Virgil explain about just how fatal it was to Werewolves and when he held it out for him, Marcel would stare at it for a moment before taking the rotted handle in his hand. He'd stare for another moment before smiling a bit and shaking his head before placing it inside the box alongside the wolfsbane "I think that I won't need it since there aren't any werewolves I have to worry about!" the Hispanic wasn't stupid, he knew why Virgil was telling him this in some stupid "just in case" scenario but he had faith that it would never happen. With that he closed the box and both the blade and the flower and redid the latch to seal the items once more "Come on, let's head back to camp and relax. Maybe...maybe we can go for a dip?" he suggested simply because there was no way that either of them were completely clean after being in that disgusting basement, it didn't help that the whole basement had a dirt floor along with the rotten and moldy wood. So with that in mind Marcel would hold the small chest in one hand while the other grabbed Virgil's hand as they began to make their way back the way they came once again, although Marcel threw one last look back to the house and let out an odd noise "Hey Querido, why did you put the doll on the window sill?" he spoke for a moment before grinning and squeezed his hand after a moment "Kidding!" he laughed a little bit in utter amusement.

He knew he should stop teasing him about it so much but it was too easy and fun at times. Hell, messing with him about anything was a great source of entertainment for him. And the fact that Marcel couldn't give it as good as he got it only encouraged him. Waiting to hear what might could of the snarky motor mouth was almost like gambling for him in a way and those times he managed to actually shut him up was the real jackpot. He had to bite on the end of his tongue to keep from prodding back to the things he was saying at times, not wanting him to think he might not be taking their conversation seriously. Or bring up any more unanswerable questions to their debate on what happened to the village and its probable link to the house. Virgil was willing to accept what they had worked out to be the most likely scenario. They didn't have a whole lot of evidence but did seem pretty likely they had stumbled across a solution to their investigation. His silence would be broken by a short bark of laughter. "Oh, please...You're ah grown-man, Marcel. I reckon I can't do anythin' t'stop ya if ya decide ya want t'go check th' tree out again." There was a hint of sarcasm to his tone. If the lycan truly wanted to stop him, he probably could although in this case he wouldn't. He smirked. "Ya can go by yourself this time though." There was no way in hell he was going anywhere near the tree. Ever. Well, kind of. He doubted he wouldn't find any peace of mind without being in ear-shot of the Hispanic if he went off to investigate. The idea of sitting around at camp while he went exploring a couple of miles wasn't one he really liked.

Virgil watched him put the old knife away, getting the impression his younger partner wasn’t too thrilled about it. Marcel hadn’t outright refused it or tossed it away, he decided he would be content and not say anything that might start an argument about it. ”Well, don’t say I didn’t try when ah vampire tries t’make ya its blood doll.” He smirked a bit at the small joke. He had no idea why silver was lethal to so many supernatural things but it was. He didn’t believe the hocus-pocus the religious freaks did that it was a blessed metal that killed evil creatures created by the devil, he chalked it up to some kind of severe allergy to it. A chuckle escaped at the suggestion, the large male taking the time to eye him critically for a minute. ”What, are ya beyond dirty now?” He didn’t think the Hispanic looked all that covered in grim, but he wouldn’t mind going for a dip to cool off and relax after the traumatic experience. He might not be a talented swimmer as the Hispanic was, but he still enjoyed the water. His smirk shifted into a light smile as they began to walk back. ”Aye, we-” He instantly stopped as the doll was mentioned, his head quickly turning to look over a shoulder toward the house as he clutched at his hand. ”Ya gotta be ********’ kiddin’ me.” Virgil soon looked back at him with a glare once it became clear he was being messed with. Again. For what had to be the millionth time in a single day. ”Ain’t funny.” It wasn’t! He’d nearly had a heart attack! Marcel should be ashamed of himself! Huffing loudly, he pulled his hand free from his grasp and stuffed both into his pockets. It wasn’t very mature to sulk, he knew that, but he couldn’t be blamed. He’d been frightened enough for one day. "I oughtta toss yer arse in th' well an' spare m'self th' trouble." He grumbled in his usual fashion. Even if he was genuinely pissed off at him for his little trick, they both knew he wouldn't ever do something like that and he certainly wouldn't now when he wasn't all that upset over it. Virgil glanced up to the sky as the trees began to thin out somewhat, trying to judge how much daylight they had left. "Think I'll go ahead an' make th' fire before we go swimmin'. It can get darker faster with all the trees around." A sunset might cast light for a while, but the shadows cast by all the trees would drown everything in darkness once the sun started to go down. Though, as far as he could tell, it was still a while off yet. But he was a man who liked to be prepared, clearly.

Marcel would happily admit that he liked it when Virgil bit back, it just made their relationship so much more interesting. Of course that being said he hated it when Virgil was capable of one upping him as few and far between as those times may be for them. He still didn't like it, he was supposed to be the smartass not him! Of course it seemed like he managed to keep Virgil quiet this time, teach him to make fun of his movie habits! But that was besides the point as he listened to Virgil point out how he couldn't stop him if he really wanted to go and the Hispanic nodded his head "Damn straight you couldn't, I'm an unstoppable five, eleven man!" so his playful ego was showing a bit? He knew Virgil must have been at least somewhat amused by it if he stuck around this long. Of course after hearing Virgil tell him that he was going alone the Hispanic promptly shook his head at the mere thought of it he exclaimed in a borderline horrified tone "And let myself get violated by god knows there?! ******** that, I'm brave. Not stupid." but of course diving into a dark basement of a crumbling house was simply the definition of intelligence. But there was no way in hell he was ever going to that tree alone, not only did it give him bad vibes but he was only confident enough to try and explore it before because Virgil was by his side. Besides if the big man was that unwilling to explore something like that it must have given off something bad.

Marcel was more than happy to have the knife for any more supernatural oddities that may come his way. However the Hispanic got the impression that Virgil had given the knife to use on him in case he ever went berserk if their earlier conversation hinted at anything. Maybe the shorter man was just overthinking it but the mere thought of using something that could kill Virgil did not sit well with him. In fact the only reason he didn't chuck it down back into the basement was because the practicality of it in case another demon attacked him...or a vampire as Virgil helpfully brought up. Marcel grinned a bit and nodded his head at the other man "Great, now with this I can make good on my threat and use this to help rip their damn fangs out!" of course that's what the Hispanic would think of doing with the knife. When Virgil asked his question Marcel would simply shrugged his shoulders a bit and looked down at himself "Well...not really but I don't know...something about that room we were in made me feel all gross...maybe it was the chemical smell or something" honestly he did feel a bit icky now that he was out of the basement and not confronted by a pack that could rip him to shreds. Now Marcel could be considered an awful person for it but he couldn't help but begin to break down laughing at Virgil when he well near freaked out over the doll being brought up. Well it seemed like he had another confirmed phobia and better yet one that was harmless and easily exploitable for his own amusement. Of course when the older man began sulking, even going as far as to take away hand holding privileges he couldn't help but roll his eyes at the over the top threat "Oh come onnnn, it wasn't that bad!" oh it was pretty mean but all in good fun "How about I make it up by buying you Chinese from that place we ordered from last time?" honestly it was just an excuse so that they could have both lunch and dinner at once, besides the place was actually really good. He then nodded his head as they walked onward towards their camp that was now coming into sight "Sounds good to me, a nice fire to cuddle up to and roast marshmallows after a good dip" it honestly sounded like a nice and romantic date idea to him.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.If Virgil had still been in a bad mood the playful attitude of his would have cheered him up immediately. Being with Marcel and talking with him about anything made for a good miracle cure for just about everything. He found himself laughing quite loudly as the suggestion he could go by himself was shot down. "That's th' smartest thing ya've said all week, darlin'." He had to bite his lower lip to quiet his snickering, finding the remark humorous. Maybe it wasn't nice to suggest his lack of intelligence at certain times, but the jerk did kind of deserve the payback! His adventure into the basement only solidified his belief that bravery and stupidity went hand in hand. His steps slowed as he took a deep breath and slowly released in an effort to calm himself before his laughter caused him to topple over. And there the veteran went proving the point to him again with his statement about vampires. "Ya could try runnin' away. That's always an option." Not one he believed for a second his courageous idiot would easily run away from a threat. He could be wrong, of course, but Marcel had stuck to his guns that night he'd learn supernatural creatures were very much real so he would believe it until it was disproven. A faint, off-put grumble came from him. Or something. The normally comforting scent was muddled with what had lingered in the basement's air though it wasn't the reason Virgil was trying to not breathe too deeply around him or stand too near. It was very faint, but he could detect trace of the alpha wolf mixed in with everything else. Something he was going to have to correct later since he doubted Marcel would let his clothing get wet. This time his glare border on being a deadly one as he laughed at him. Marcel should enjoy it while it lasted. One of these days the brute was going to run out of patience for all of his teasing and take his revenge. And it wouldn't be pretty! He scoffed in offense when he tried to bribe him with Chinese food. He might love eating but he was going to have to try harder than that. "I'll think about it an' get back t'ya." Virgil had to fake a yawn in order to keep the smirk from his lips. Just because he wasn't actually mad at him didn't mean he was going to let him off the hook so easily. His eyes fell to the ground as he momentarily felt a sense of defeat over his newest realization. That he couldn't even stay fake mad at him. Unless his romantic idea was another attempt to soothe the not-so-angry beasts. He didn't try to fight the smile when it came. "Sounds nice." His lips were pressed together. He might be able to pull off some romantic prose every now and then, but actually making plans often left him stumped. "Then dinner an' relax under th' stars?" It sounded so much better when the other had suggested it back at the apartment.

"Home sweet home." Virgil joked as they reached their camping ground again, glad that nothing appeared to have been disturbed while they were off on their little adventure. He headed over to his truck to grab his bottle of hand sanitizer only to close in on the shorter man again. He briefly glanced at the box before he pointedly looked at Marcel while he pressed the small bottle into his free hand. "Use it." His voice left little room for argument. He had a feeling he might be coming off as an overprotective asshat but he didn't care. The deadly herb was one he'd known the effects of for a lot longer than he had lived as a werewolf and he refused to take any chances with his beloved's life. With that, he left him to go start working on building a fire. As much as Virgil wanted to cheat and take the easy route with this, he knew he couldn't with most of it if he wanted a fire that would last them a while. He walked over to the two trees the firewood was stacked between and moved the piece of tin used to protect the wood from the rain. After grabbing a few pieces and some kindling, he went over to the fire pit and dropped the small pile near it. Kneel down, he placed the two biggest pieces in the center of the pit before laying two smaller pieces on top of them as if he was trying to build a small log cabin. Another couple of layers would be added before he filled the center with some of the kindling though not enough to block out the air flow. Virgil stood again and cast a critical over the arrangement, nodding his head somewhat a few seconds later as he deemed it suitable. It would need more wood added later on as it burned, but he didn't want to build on that would take several hours to burn down to embers on its own. It still needed some sort of fire starter, but he was going to deal with that later as well as actually getting the fire started. Leaving a fire unattended for very long was the first rule of survival! One of them, anyway. Maybe? Clean water. Shelter. Food. Don't leave fires by themselves. That sounded about right! "I'm goin' t'be ah terrible teacher..." He sighed out as he turned around to get a bottle of tea from the ice chest. "Ya ready?" He glanced around for Marcel. When he was focused on completing a task, he tended to block out everything else.

It would be Marcel's turn to huff out in annoyance at Virgil's next smartass remark. That takes some nerve! He faked a look of annoyance as he glanced to the side at Virgil "Oh really now? Is that so!?" suddenly the look of annoyance shifted into a mischievous grin as he leaned into Virgil and placed a hand on his chest and slid it slowly down before dipping just a bit lower than the waistband as they walked "I think I said some things last night that were pretty smart, don't you?" he whispered in a slightly husky tone before quickly pulled away and opened his box once again to gaze at the two items that were currently in the box. Only doing this to pretend he was distracted by the two items, the nerve of Virgil to try and one up him! Once Marcel made his intentions clear if he ever met a vampire he couldn't help but roll his eyes a bit at the others suggestion "Yeah, run so they can bite me in the a**! I can take em! No problem!" he boldly declared showing his either fearless bravery or how he didn't know anything about how strong Vampires actually were. Either way Marcel wasn't one to back down and run away from a fight! The Hispanic would find it a bit annoying how Virgil wasn't letting him get so close unless he forced himself into the other man's bubble. Dammit Marcel liked being close to his loved one, even if it was as simple as holding hands and the other man was denying it! But the younger man would simply accept it for what it was and assumed he must have smelled worse than he looked, not that he was happy about it. Marcel would then grin a bit as Virgil seemed to be difficult about his little prank earlier but his grin only widened when the other man finally smiled once again. Yep, there it was. Marcel would then let out a small hum on contentment at the others suggestion "That sounds real nice, never actually spent time to look up at the night sky" he admitted, yeah obvious he looked up at the sky once in awhile but he never really looked at the stars.

Finally the two arrived at their camp and Marcel let out a groan as he stretched a bit "I know right? Nice to be away from death and all that s**t" as neat as it was to go exploring it still made him uncomfortable to be surrounded by so much death, even if it was hundreds of years old or however old it actually was. Marcel would blink a bit in surprise when Virgil approached him to press the bottle of hand sanitizer into his free hand. The tone made Marcel question what the big deal was bit he shrugged his shoulders in indifference "OK" he would walk around to the passenger seat to place the box down on the floor of the truck before he began to scrub the strong smelling gel all over his hands. It only took seconds for the liquid to evaporate, making his hands smell unnaturally sterile but at least they were clean now. From that point Marcel would place the item back in the truck before joining Virgil as he put their campfire together and watched in fascination as his Lover meticulously placed each item where it needed to be. The fact the he had never been out camping made this interesting to watch and he couldn't help but chuckle at the other man's comment when he seemingly finished "I don't know about that Querido, you seemed to know what you were doing there" honestly Virgil reminded Marcel of himself when he had his mind set to a task, oblivious to the world as he worked on whatever it was. He then nodded his head "Yeah, let's get to swimming" as the two began to walk down the path they just came up from Marcel would quickly begin to glance around their surroundings as if to make sure nobody else was around to see. He still wasn't completely sold on the idea of skinny dipping, even if they were quite literally in the middle of nowhere out here. When they finally arrived at the pond Marcel would gaze at the crystal clear water once again and saw that it must have been at least somewhat deep for it to get darker near the center so that was at least a plus, he liked deep water quite a bit. It meant he could actually swim instead of just standing their in cold water or maybe floating. He let out a deep breath before removing his shirt and placed it down in the grass before then kicking off his shoes and socks. He paused a bit, taking one final look around before pulling his pants down to reveal his briefs but nothing more. OK maybe that was as far as he was willing to go, nonetheless Marcel walked over and stepped into the water and unsurprisingly it was crisp and cold. Luckily the air and sunlight that was still there nice and hot so that it wouldn't be that bad. With that Marcel waded into the water stood there for a moment to adjust to the cold temperature before turning to Virgil, if he wanted to go bare than go ahead. The Hispanic was happy with this, at least for now maybe.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.”Thanks.” An almost shy smile formed. It might not really be a compliment, but Virgil was going to take it as one. The cap was removed from the bottle and he lifted it to his lips as they walked for their swimming spot. He hadn’t noticed just how thirsty he actually was until he started to drink, sucking down nearly half of the bottle in one go. After inhaling all of the dust down in the cellar, it was a small relief. Upon reaching the pond, he took a moment to appreciate the serenity of the area around them. This place and the spot where they were camping out made it hard to believe there was scenes of death only a handful of miles away in either direction. To think he’d spent time here before without knowing it and most likely would have never found either places on his own. It only fed his curiosity to uncover more of the park’s secrets although he was content to let that wait for another time. Closing and dropping the bottle to the ground, he pulled his shirt over his head and let it fall always before slipping out of his jeans. Looking down at his scarred body, Virgil was kind of surprised there wasn’t some sort of red trail remaining or something. The bold and teasing touch earlier had been intense in its own way no matter how subtle and simple it was. Sometimes, those were the best kind. Gods knew it didn’t take much to pique the hunter’s interest. Thinking about the encounter now was causing parts of him to stir awake. Last night would forever be a time he would remember as something special. The finer details were lost on him, however. Marcel had wreaked total havoc on his mind and body last night so his memory loss couldn't be helped. Yeah, he needed to get in the stat before this became a problem. As his fingers grazed the waistband of his boxer briefs, he looked toward the water. The crystal clear water would do nothing to hide anything from view although it wasn’t as if they hadn’t already shared carnal knowledge of each others bodies so being naked around Marcel was no big deal to him. And having cold damp underwear clinging to his body wasn’t something he wanted to deal with. His boxers would be tossed onto the pile once his mind was made up. Virgil took his sweet time with walking into the water, wanting to savor the newest sight to greet his view. His partner might be more at home in the civilized world though he didn’t look bad at all being surrounded by forest. He almost looked like some forest sprite standing there In the water mostly naked as he was. If he had thought about it, he would have snuck a picture with his phone. Only to show him later as proof of his own personal beauty. As he got closer, he reached out to wrap his arms around him. ”Love you.” He held onto to him and kissed him on the shoulder. It hardly lasted for long though. The water was only up to his knees but he was already starting to get chilly and there was a particularly sunny spot in the middle of the pond. Pulling away, Virgil suddenly headed deeper, not looking forward to the point when the icy coldness would reach the most sensitive parts of his body. He closed his eyes before he dove underneath the water, mentally swearing as the cold enveloped him completely. Sometimes, ripping the bandage off quickly wasn’t the way to go. Virgil resurfaced in the middle of the pond, letting out a loud whoop as he did. Unfortunately, being in the sunlight did little to actually warm the water though it still helped with the overall chill. He flashed him a grin as he reclined back somewhat to simply float there and relax. Actual swimming wasn't his forte.
