Rory looked on as the other two rushed out the door. Off on their own little adventure. How wonderful that must be… There were plenty of days when she longed for something like that. For someone to show up at her door, declaring that they “wanted to see her.” Somebody she could talk to and hang out with, who would understand and be unafraid of her power. That wasn’t exactly likely to happen here though. For one thing, she was a noble of Trendel. And for a place that was supposed to be such a melting pot, there were a heck of a lot of Valorians around. They weren’t nearly as evil as the tales of her childhood made them out to be - hell, Camilla was the nicest person she’d ever met - but her status had earned her more than a few unwarranted glares in the hallway. Between that, fact that she fully intended to spend eternity locked away from the rest of the world, and the general awkwardness that came with being her age, the chances of her finding romance were about the same as her becoming a famous singer. The teenage angst was strong with this today.
It was going to suck, staying in here forever. Rory loved people. She always had. Even the people who hated her and the ones who were afraid of her. Even the ones who glared. Determined as she was to protect others from her horrid vocals, Aurora Harperion was an extrovert. The last week had been torture for the girl. After the event she had certainly thought it reasonable to hide in her room, but her fears hadn’t made her any less stir-crazy. She longed for the fresh air and breeze outside, the sun on her face… and most of all she longed for some friends to enjoy those things with her. The thought of staying away, hiding by herself for eternity nearly brought her to tears.
But what else could she do. The auburn-haired girl looked sadly down at her own hands. They were covered in crumbs from easing her hunger, pale and thinner than they had looked in a while. Her first year had been nothing if not eventful. SHe’d seen her first real battle, spent months in the hospital, and made her first true friends. Yet looking at these frail hands, she felt as though she had not changed at all. She was still the same weak, terrified child who had pined for a life outside of Harperion Manor. These same hands had pressed for hours against the window, her eyes glued to the outside world. She had stewed in that room for days on end, cursing her parents for imprisoning their young child. And yet here she was… trapped inside her own room again. This want how this was supposed to be. She had been so thrilled to leave for school, to get away from the people who were so terrified of her. And now she was more scared than they were: the warden of her own prison.
Screw that!
Rory was mad, though she wasn’t sure which direction to aim her anger at. She was mad at the universe for the stupid Raiment it had given her. She was mad at her parents for locking her up, for demanding she be a warrior and raising her to think of her voice as a dangerous weapon. She was mad at those students for inviting her out, for getting her to loosen up and let herself go. But most of all, more than anything, she was angry at herself. The young student was so frustrated that she wanted to scream. Not a great idea.
You know what? Forget it!
She was sick of being afraid. Sick of everyone being afraid. Forget locking herself in her room. She was the same Lady Harperion she had been when she left the harbor… and it was her own damn fault. Her eyes glazed over as her legs carried her toward the door. She was so tired of being weak and terrified. So done with hiding in her room. And so, so sick of being quiet. Without even thinking she tore off into the halls. She ran barefoot, still in her nightgown, through the halls of the castle. Out of the dorms, through the courtyard, and onto the grounds she ran. Still sensible enough to get away from people, but not enough to stop her own feet. White sticks of legs padded against the grass before buckling beneath her. Nobody was here, which was a very good thing, because Rory let out a yell like she had never yelled before.
This was no accidental slip of the tongue. It was a cry of pure frustration, a caged animal being released from its prison. Her eyes glinted wildly and she fell to her knees. She was prepared for the headache that would come. The eventual unconsciousness, maybe another hospital visit. This shout felt more powerful than any she had ever made before. But this time it was different. This voice -her voice- didn’t make her want to run in fear. It wasn’t even hurting her. This time it was on purpose, her own call. For once she was in control of her power, and it felt amazing.
Eventually she ran out of air, looking about the green field from her position on the ground. It was a bit embarrassing, but she felt much better. Nothing was damaged- not a living creature in range of her power. She could only hope that nobody had heard her yell.

Tala Maxwell ~ Beginner's Combat - To Academy Grounds ~ It would seem that most if not all of the class had been shocked to have seen the Training Yard in such disrepair - even the Shadowmancer had been surprised, it was as he looked down at Fea who was focused upon everyone's reactions that he felt like shrugging... No training grounds, then there wouldn't be so much physical activity in class, which meant little chance for unwanted physical impact right? Although it was a shame, he didn't feel too bad about it - at least until Gin suggested they take the class to the far side of the Academy grounds... He wouldn't admit he was a little disappointed as it meant there was more space to run around - and Fea would be more than happy to tear around the open expanse... Still, if he could perhaps slip away...?
His eyes turned to settle upon Eyrli as she advanced, he felt a slight smile tweak at the edges of his lips as the Elementor dropped down to fuss Fea again, but as she extended her hand up towards him - perhaps in request to help her rise - his smile faded... The motion wasn't intentional, they'd been working together in both training and class lately, but this all seemed to disappear for a moment as his protective reflex reared its ugly head and his mind started throwing up questions and fears...
It took only a second or two and Eyrli was back on her feet, her hand still extended towards him...if he didn't take it he felt she might be upset and that was the last thing he ever wanted to do as she had always been soo nice to him - not to mention he always felt so much better around her... His body appeared to react before his brain engaged however and as he looked down - pondering how much longer he could mull over the situation, he realised that his hand had already taken hers...so gently he hadn't noticed...
[ ~ Exit to Academy Grounds ~ ]
It was almost as though the Wolf had never had such an area to run around - the second they stepped out into the Academy Grounds, Fea was off and away, darting around the field, racing back and forth yet always careful to keep Tala in sight when she got too far away... The Shadowmancer would watch as the crazy beast seemed to enjoy her freedom, his eyes only moving from the Wolf as Leo spoke of protective armour and learning how to wield a real Sword...
He'd used a dagger a few times in the past, but a sword was a much larger extension to his arm and he'd never really considered a need to wield one...at least not yet...His eyes however would now turn towards Gin as the Leopard Shifter asked if he might assist her in a demonstration. This would prove interesting either way as having the chance to watch those who knew their stuff first was always an advantage...

╔═══════════════════ [ - Enter Academy Grounds - ]
“I prefer hand to hand combat, but I don’t mind helping for the demonstration.” He said with a little nod. Gin wasn’t great with a sword, but he knew how to use one more or less. Nodding a bit, he took one of the practice swords in hand and turned to face Leo. “Ready when you are Leo…” Despite the task at hand, he was acutely aware of the eyes of the students upon them – one student’s eyes in particular. He didn’t know how to feel about that, especially given the man’s resemblance to Sokea.
Gin worked through each of the stances and exercises that Leo led him through. Most of it he knew from his years of Beginners and Advanced Combat that he’d experienced prior to graduation, but there were some moves and stances that he was unfamiliar with. Once Leo was done showing him the stances, everyone was instructed to grab a sword and to pair off. Before he could do anything, Gin watched Eryli pair off with Tala, much to his dismay. Mouth opening and closing for a moment as he tried to stop them, he closed his mouth and swallowed, looking at the one remaining student – Aemon.
Huffing a little bit, he shook his head a little bit before squaring off with Aemon. “I’ll follow your lead. Show me what you learned from the demonstration.” He said, taking his stance, sword at the ready. Gin did his best not to be distracted by Aemon’s looks – he wasn’t Sokea! – but it was hard. Aemon landed a few ‘hits’ on him as they sparred, but over all it was a good session.
By the end of the class, Gin was dripping in sweat and panting lightly. “Good class everyone. Take the rest of the day and rest. We’ll see you next class.” He said, going around to help gather up the swords and the practice gear. Turning his back to Aemon, he focused on the task at hand.

Student || Aemon, the Outcast [Where:] [With:] [Feeling:] [Outfit:] [OOC:]
╔═══════════════════
Aemon followed suite as Gin and Leo both led the students to the Academy Grounds, where their sparring session for today would be held. The Azarian watched intently as Leo and Gin demonstrated. He took their stance, style and movements into account as he watched. He had noticed that Leo was pregnant, but even still, she still sparred and went to work regardless. He had to admit, he admired that. Ordinarily, most expecting women would take time to rest, or, so he had heard on his travels. He never had much time to think about such things given his life as mercenary. In the past, he found precious little time for pondering idle thoughts. From his life experience, he only required the essentials. Money, food, work and, on occasion, a nightly pleasure in one of Azar’s brothels here and there.
However, he pushed such thoughts aside as Leo and Gin finished their demonstration. As sparring sessions commenced, Aemon picked up a sword of his own and noticed that he would be facing Gin. Before they began, Aemon looked over the sword briefly. A straight blade, not too heavy or too light. Admittedly, he missed the familiar grip of the curvature sabres that his homeland was known for. In any case, he would simply have to make do. Facing Gin and listening intently, he nodded and proceeded to spar with the wolf shifter.
Throughout their sparring match, Aemon noticed something…off…about Gin. Maybe it was the way he carried himself, the aggression of his strikes, the emotional distress made evident in his eyes, facial expressions and body language. He wasn’t sure what it was, but he knew something was up. More so, he couldn’t shake the feeling it was related to him, but, that point was merely speculation more than anything else, despite the fact that he noticed a clear dismay and hesitation as Gin approached Aemon for this very match. Aemon did so hate it when people were not straight with their feelings…then again, different personalities, different ways of approaching things…and even then, there was no guarantee that Aemon was the cause of his distress, it was just a feeling he got.
Once the sparring had ended, Aemon respectfully bowed his head to Gin in gratitude for the match and then to everyone else, before taking his leave and heading back to the inn.

~ Eyrli entered Academy Grounds ~
Arriving alongside her classmate the girl was watching with an intense, excited look on her face as Leo was demonstrating how to handle a blade, even crossing swords with the assisting Shifter to provide examples... And this was despite the Professors current condition. It was inspiring to the bright girl and she found part of herself wanted to be like the woman in time. Upon being instructed Eyrli was waving Tala over to get a weapon and protective equipment, she'd never really seen the boy hold is own and was hardly one to judge his capability. If anything, she was curious. That and the sooner she learns to handle a weapon the closer she will be to her goal. Huh... Unsheathing the sword the girl gauged its weight, noting the feel of her arm seeming to try and drag away from her body when she gave it a few slow swings through the air. It's... Heavier than I thought... She almost disliked the weighty feeling. But no reason to complain for the time being, it's practice after all!
Next up was sparring, if the fellow Elementor was not too against it. Though the girl, not wanting to risk hurting him or even herself, would grip the handle with both hands and maintain slower motions, wanting her body to learn to account for the feeling of the weapons pull, the slight vibrations than came with impact with another blade... It certainly was a strange feeling. One Eyrli was determined to get used to. while her palms were somewhat protected by her gloves, her fingers were easily getting a minor irritation from the constant friction from the weapon pulling against her grip and the aforementioned vibrations. It didn't take long before Eyrli had chosen to stop, worried she would lose her grip in she kept up for too long. She'd then continue once the discomfort in her fingers wore off somewhat.
This repeated a few more times before class was finished. Even though she kept to an easier pace Eyrli was suprised to thing herself kind of tired. ...Gee, I wonder if we'd be able to try anything lighter next time... She wasn't one to complain, although to be honest the mute would at least like a chance to practice with some other options and see what works. But that was for another day, now she's return her equipment, walk to Leo and Gin and bow and wave them goodbye. A part of her still had to wonder about Gins problem though. Maybe if she's lucky he'll be around the Tavern tomorrow so she can try to get SOME info.

Tala Maxwell ~ Academy Grounds ~ Tala couldn't help but note just how excited Eyrli seemed as she watched Leo and Gin's demonstration of how to wield a blade properly - the session was certainly interesting to watch and as the pair worked through several stances and exercises he took what he could to mind before following Eyrli as she headed towards the equipment before moving to a space where they could practice.
He certainly didn't mind teaming up with his fellow Elementor as the Shadowmancer had sparred with her a few times now whilst training with Camilla... He may have wondered if their absent classmate might have had anything to do with the decimation of the Training Grounds, but his mind was elsewhere and he would stifle a chuckle as he watched Eyrli's arm drop with the weight of the sword she had drawn - He had no doubt with training she'd be wielding heavier blades in no time, but he contentedly went through the stances and moves with her all the same.
Occasionally, Eyrli would pause their session to adjust the grip on her weapon, but after a brief rest, she seemed happy to continue - Tala certainly didn't mind the temporary breaks as he found his own sword was a little heavier than he'd expected - no wonder his fellow Elementor was struggling, these things were pretty heavy! As they paused, he would stick the tip of his blade in the ground, leaning on it lightly before drawing it again when she was ready to restart - casually knocking off any dirt with his boot.
Before they knew it however, their session would draw to a close and Eyrli would take her leave, returning the equipment to Leo and Gin - Tala would do the same before waving his friend goodbye and turning to see where Fea had gotten to.
The Wolf of course had made full use of her free-time outside and after racing around the grounds had rather exhausted herself - deciding to take a nap beneath the shade of one of the nearby trees before coming as her Pack Brother called her to head back to the Academy - Today had been a good day!
