Walking through the streets, this area was not as well filled as the rest of the city, as a lot of the shops in this area were closed due to the festival. There were still several people here and there, looking to get away from the larger crowds, perhaps for peace of mind, perhaps for a romantic rendezvous, either way, no one was happy to be in the area once the first explosion went off. At the center of the district, a Black Armored Knight threw off his cloak and drew a giant shield off of his back before wielding a decently sized longsword. He reared back and tossed his shield into the air, launching it like a disc that crushed into several people before started to attack other nearby with his sword. He was powerful and was targeting limbs to maim as he circled around to reach where his shield was landing so that he could pick it up, and throw it again. After the second explosion went off, at the edge of the district, leading to the main road that led back towards the academy, a Black Armored Rogue completely shifted into a large thin feline with spots along its body. Suddenly the cat was charging through the streets faster than most could even notice that it was there, and periodically would pounce on a passerby before moving into the next as he charged to the main road leading to the academy.

About to move onto the next shop, the Black Armored Knight was amused to see a couple stragglers come struggling out of the wreckage of the smithy. Narrowing his eyes as the female let the wounded male down on the ground. When she looked up at him, and started to roar off her threats, the Black Armored Knight simple stared back at her without expression. When she charged at him, he tilted his head lightly as he kept his eyes trained on her, and focused on her movement, shifting to the side slightly as he watched her charge forward. When she finally got close and jumped at him. He suddenly shifted backwards, yanking his arm back fiercely, which caused the chain that was partially embedded in the ground to suddenly snap up and tighten. He yanked the chain hard as she started to get close, causing the shield from within the smithy to suddenly come barreling out through the rubble. The Knight was already positioned, there wasn’t much he needed to do. When the girl leaped at him and he yanked the chain, he also brought his free hand up, weapon in full to block her attack. However he didn’t try to ward her off or parry. Instead, he simply blocked, so that she would be perfectly positioned between him and the smithy as his shield suddenly came flying out directly at the shifter on its path back to the Knight.

Despite the pain in his shoulder and the fact that he’d been flung against the wall rather harshly, he was relieved to see that Leo was mostly unharmed. She had a few bruises and scratches, but she was alright. Looking around them, he noticed the fires and the fact that most of their possessions were utterly ruined. Sensing Leo’s anger, he could only watch as her ears and tail bristled, and she charged from the rubble that was now their home.

“Leo! DON’T!” He screamed, watching her charge toward the enemy. Cursing, he shoved away from the wall, ignoring the pain in his shoulder as he moved to follow her. But with the instability of the building and the pain in his shoulder he couldn’t move as swiftly as he normally would. Doing his best to follow her, he watched as the Black Armored Knight didn’t run, or move to dodge Leo, no, he shifted to the side. Moving as fast as he could, he narrowed his gaze and looked to see what the hell the man was doing.

As Leo jumped the Knight pulled. Gasping in alarm, he saw the chain as it went taught. Leon didn’t even need to know what was on the other end of the chain – whatever it was, it could do damage, to her. Jumping from the rubble, he opened his arms wide aiming directly for the shield that the Knight was trying to use as a projectile to harm Leo.

Reaching out, ignoring the sharp pain in his shoulder and the blood dribbling down his chest, he grasped for the shield, latching onto it with all of his strength to stop it from colliding with his beloved.

Leo was thrown back a bit when the guy just moved a bit. She then turned when she heard Leon start moving. Her ears laid flat as she noticed the shield. Her eyes widened as she was torn between what was needed to be done. In mid-lunge, she continued her attack. Her blades were moving as if she was trying to slash open his front side in an x shape. She wanted to take out parts of the body first before dealing a final blow. For now, this was the best she could do with his armor still on. She could see her soon to be mate was in pain. She felt the anger boil even more. She needed to at least do something. That chain was her main goal. Before she made a move she looked back at Leon once more.

"Are you alright? Leon are you able to hold it a bit longer so I can get a hit on him?" She said as she looked at the armored male. She needed to just remove the chain. This was a chance for them to work together as a couple and fight for what had happened. Leo was an excellent fighter but she was even better with a halberd. She looked back at the knight. Her fists swinging as she aimed for him.

The Black Armored Knight tsked lightly when his shield suddenly stopped as the smith jumped up to catch it. He wouldn’t let the young woman in front of him regain her composure however, and just as soon as she turned her attention away, in that brief moment that she yelled back to the Smith, he swung his blade out at her, while readying his arm that was still connected to the chain. He struck out at her, and then stepped back as she struck out at him, and using his sword to deflect the attack, he waited until she positioned herself just right, and then used the situation he had before him to his advantage. With the Smith holding the shield in the back, the chain wasn’t quite taut anymore, however it also wouldn’t flail when he swung it, so he waited until the young woman was in position, and then lifted his arm up, swinging the heavy, slightly glowing chain directly at Leo.

Gripping the shield with all his might, Leon didn’t take his eyes from the Knight, but Leo did. The enemy was her weakness and Leon knew it. As she turned to speak to him, the Knight took the opportunity to strike at her. “Leo! Dodge!” It was a simple command and one that he hoped she'd followed without thinking about it. Luckily for him, she trusted his command and moved out of the way just in time.

Growling low, Leon knew he needed to throw the guy off balance, literally. Narrowing his gaze, Leon gripped the shield and yanked it, drawing the chain taught. The Knight seemed startled, losing his sure footing just enough. Taking the opportunity while the man was thrown off but the action, Leon, using all his strength, wrenched the shield as hard as he could. Leon shouted out in pain as his torso twisted to the side, his shoulder bunching and pressing against the wooden piece lodged in his shoulder. Fresh blood trickled and flowed from the wound, dripping to the ground at his feet, but he didnt let go.

He knew that Leo would see the attack of opportunity. If the knight was thrown off balance enough, she could move in for a strike or two to deal real damage to the man. All Leon could do in the meantime was grip the shield and hold on – if the Knight got his shield back, he could do untold damage with it and Leon would be damned if he let this monster destroy the livelihood of anyone else!

Leo listened as Leon had told her to dodge. She was more concerned about him. He meant everything to her. Fear was in her eyes when she heard Leon shout in pain. Her eyes shifted to him, but she noticed what he was doing. Leon was giving her a chance to get an opening. She took off charging at the knight as she brought her blades forward in a direct stabbing motion. She needed to make sure she weakened the knight. She was determined at this point to weaken him. She needed too for Leon's sake. Everything was for him. She continued to stay focused on the male. She was in pain from the blast earlier, but she needed to push her body to continue.

With one blade stretched out the other was trying to go for a vital area. She was aiming for the knight's shoulder. If she could cut that it would help Leon with the whole chain thing. She just needed the knight to stay focused on her stabbing motion instead of the one going for the shoulder. She wanted to see the knight writhe in pain like the man she loved was doing. Their home was destroyed, and Leon was injured. Leo had tears in her eyes as she roared in frustration. One of the blades needed to land on him for the sake of Leon.

When the chain went taut once more, the Black Armored Knight nearly lost his footing as the shifter managed to pull him back. With a second yank that he didn’t expect, the chain actually pulled him forward causing him to stumble as he tried to regain his footing. At that moment, the female shifter suddenly pounced at him, creating a feint with two daggers to try and pierce through the gaps of his armor. Unfortunately, the feint worked, as the Knight only managed to see the dagger the girl intended for him to see. As he stumbled to catch his footing, he brought his hand up and blocked the dagger he saw coming, but was unable to do anything about the second dagger that was brought down at his shoulder. The Knight flinched hard as the dagger pierced his shoulder, and he was trying to also keep his balance as the male shifter continued to pull on the shield. In a desperate move, the Knight released his power on the chain, causing it to lose its strength and snap as the two pulled in either direction, then with a slow spinning maneuver, the Knight tried to attack Leo once more with a limping arm.

As the chain snapped, Leon tossed the shield to the side, sending it clanking and skidding down the street. He watched as the Knight raised his blade to attack his love which caused a true lions roar to rip from his throat. The Knight seemed surprised by the sound, hesitating in his attack, his eyes going wide as he looked at Leon. But that hesitation was his undoing. Charging forward, his hands shifted into mighty claws, he roared as he came forward to slash and hack at the man who had dared to come into their city and destroy their beloved home.

Blinded by fury, adrenaline pumping through his veins, Leon let loose on the man, hardly caring if he fought back with sword or dagger. His shoulder ached in protest, blood dripping from the wound, but with the adrenaline, he felt very little. Leon’s rage could only be quelled by the death of the man who had nearly taken everything from him…

Leo was surprised she had done something right. She had landed a blow as she had never really had to fight a tough opponent before. Or at least not since she had practiced as a child with Reynard. She felt relieved as she removed her hand from the blade leaving it in his shoulder. She took a deep breath as she took this time to look back at Leo as she smiled at him. She saw the chain snap as she went running to him but a roar escaped his mouth. Leo spun to see a blade coming down toward her. Her eyes widened as she was defenseless at the moment. Everything in her life flashing before her very eyes. The man she loved and her hard work into opening a shop. Even having become a teacher.

A flash flew by her as her hair moved with the movement. She had dropped to her knees. The knight was now on the ground with Leon on top of him. Her heart was racing as she felt tears fall from her eyes. Maybe now that can live peacefully after all of this. Who were these people and where did they come from? She crawled over as she tried to get Leon to ease up because he was bleeding badly. She could care less about the knight who attacked them but Leon was her main concern. "Leon we should go see a doctor. You need to see one now." She said as she wasn't really giving an option at the moment either. She wanted to make sure defeating the knight was not all in vain. She needed to know her soon to be mate would survive this as well. If he continued there could be a risk of infection.

Even with sword and hand, and armor protecting him. Nothing could stop the might of the Lion Shifter that came upon him. Falling back from the sheer might of his power, the Knight looked up fear in his eyes as the large claws ripped through his armor like a hot knife through butter. In his last moments, he heard only the voice of the young shifter woman concerned for the Lion that bested him.

The air was cold and people were inside their homes or in school. But out in the cold dragging boards across the ground was a snake shifter. She needed to help and she didn't care if she froze. Her big brother's home needed to be repaired. She wanted him to have his home and forge back. Walking backward she tripped over her own feet as she landed on her butt. She was not going to let the snow and cold stop her. She got back up as she began to walk toward the home of Leon. Or where it used to stand at one point in time. She had her long white hair pulled up in a bun to keep it out of her face so the scales on the back of her neck were no exposed for all to see. She didn't care anymore. She needed to continue on no matter what strangers thought of her shifting form. She couldn't be insecure anymore.

She reached down with a cold hand and picked up a hammer and a nail. She lifted the heavy board up so she could hammer it into place. She began to hammer as she puffed out her cheeks. She was not going to let this beat her. She needed to keep moving forward. She then smacked her fingers with the hammer for her daydreaming. She held her breath as she wanted to scream but she held it back. She needed to keep strong. She needed to not worry about injuries. She gripped the hammer once more and started to focus. She was in a fighting stance as she looked like she was about to battle the board. "You shall not defeat me. I am the great Harphinia and you will bow at my feet." She said as she pointed at the board with the hammer. She began to hammer away. The sound echoing in the silent streets of the Artisan District. She didn't have anyone telling her to sit it out. She will sneak out and do some of the work on her own if she had too.

Nephthys had acquired a hard boiled egg, a bit of jerky, and some cheese for her breakfast. She munched on these as she moved through the city. She knew it would be a bit before she would be meeting with her friends as Camilla had a prior engagement. The teen finished her food and pulled a small canteen of water from her bag, which she used to wash down her food as she meandered through, ignoring those around her as she was lost in thought. She passed by the tailor's shop and noticed a beautiful deep emerald fabric which she paused to admire. The sun hit the cloth in a way that made it dazzle. She took a moment to appreciate this as she'd never been poor but she wasn't exactly a noble either. Her clothes never truly stood out as anything other than comfortable. From time to time, as she hung out with her royal besties, it did make the young woman wonder what it felt like to be dressed in such things. Nephthys pulled herself away from the window at last and made her way over to the blacksmith's shop. She made friends with someone's horse that was tied out front while she waited for Kayl and Camilla to meet up with her as planned.

Nephthys introduced herself to the blacksmith and his wife and explained she was there to meet Kayl and Camilla. Camilla, however, never showed. She was concerned for her friend, so she left Kayl to attend to his portion of business with the Blacksmith- who's name she'd learned was 'Leon'. Nephthys headed for the docks, despite her natural instinct to avoid that area at all costs. As a native from Trendel, it was best to avoid anywhere with a giant warship from their known enemy. However, Camilla was her best friend and the docks were her last known location, so she set off in that direction to make sure nothing tragic was holding her friend at bay. Of course Kayl was more than welcome to join her if he so wished, but regardless of whether or not he tagged along, she parted from the shop and took off through the streets toward the giant red warning flag of the ships.
