The Initiative members working on the ground crew had each received notice, whether it be through word of mouth during one of their drop offs or via a small slip of paper slipped onto their pocket, of a meeting to be held at their Chittentown safehouse. That night was tonight.
“Hello, brothers and sisters. Thank you for joining us.” Byakko stepped forward, drawing her arms over her chest. ”First of all, I want to say- great work everyone. I couldn’t be more pleased with our progress so far.” While as stone faced as ever, her voice carried the warmth of pride.
“Everything is running perfectly smooth. We’re collecting resources at a steady enough rate, that if we keep this pace up, we’ll have enough to make the upgrades we wanted to make to the swamp. And maybe then some. Wander, Poeias, Selune- you're all really impressing me out there.”
“While you all deserve a little commendation, that’s not why I’ve summoned you here tonight. This is.” Byakko held out a sheet of paper, then handed it off to the nearest troll. It was passed around the room. The font was clearly that of the military.

SUBJECT: Proper Disposal and Destruction of Obsolete Military Technology
It has come to my attention that certain procedures are not being fully performed within the janitorial unit. While I sympathize that cutting corners that may seem unnecessary is both cost and time effective, these procedures are in place for a reason.
Destroy all components via the incinerator upon confirmation of serial numbers.
Discard all waste in the appropriate waste sectors.
A minimum of two guards should be posted and patrolling each waste sector at any given time.
Security footage should be reviewed by a supervisor once every 24 hours, at minimum.
Any further breaks in procedure will result in immediate and swift response.

“This notice is from shortly before the sites publicly opened, so it’s safe to say it’s not about our own activity in any way. I have connections in Chittentown’s underworld, and I’ve heard whispers about someone working out of the city selling modded and repaired military tech.” She tapped a finger against her elbow. “Putting two and two together, I figure it’s a worthy enough lead to try and track down. We know whoever this is, is working out of the city, and that they’ve likely been scavenging from military stations around the desert. If we can find and gain access to this underground market- well, I’m sure you can see why it could be useful to the Initiative. I trust in your abilities- good luck.”
