When they arrived, everyone with sense went inside after the initial onsloughts. The Stardroids had asserrted the city she lived in as their territory, and made no effort to spread, whuch made any aid from Earth's robotic child superhero... Painfully slow. Mostly, because beating them was incredibly difficult. That, and they had thousands in their city. Those who didn't hide disappeared -- to what, Brit didn't know, but shbe was on a high aopartment balcony, and she didn't see anyone. Britney Menefer had been injured and knocked out in the initial attacks, waking long after back home, treated, but otherwise alone per usual, leaving her to think on what to do, and listen to neighbors talk. They'd vanished, and now she was sitting on her balcony, holding her guitar with a sigh. There was no work to be had with this -- neither above the table or in the dark underbelly under streetlamps. So, she went through the motions of lighting a cgarette she lacked, before starting to strum on her guitsar, humming silently. At least her music couldn't be taken, or she'd eat faces.

What was that sound? It was both like and unlike many of the things he had heard on this planet since his arrival, and it was uniquely pleasant to Sunstar. Pleasant enough, in fact, that he decided to investigate it. How? By invading the balcony it was coming from. He didn't look at the person playing the strange instrument, not right away, instead making himself comfortable on the edge of the railing. "Keep playing," he said, folding his arms over his chest and resting regally in place. He wanted to enjoy the music a bit more before having to deal with the one making it.

Brit didn't skip a beat when the leader appeared, really. Instead she nodded a hello, continuing before speaking, replying to his order. "Like you can tell me to stop and have it work." Her tone was GENTLE ribbing, a bemused look on her face as she ended one song, beginning another. "I'd offer to take a request, but I don't know any space music."

"I had no intention to," Sunstar said, intrigued by this woman's ability to stand up to him. "Rather, I expected you to be so fearful that you would stop." And that she wasn't? Well, that was a thoroughly pleasant surprise. "Just play what you love. There's little enough on this planet that I've been able to experience as it's meant to be enjoyed, so give me this."

"Oh, I'm we4ll aware you can break my a**." Brit shrugged, strumming a random tune. "But the hiding thing gets old and my son needs a good example set. And besides, I'm dying as it is - now if I couild find my thrice damned smokes I'd be thrilled." She shrugged, fingers running through some notes as she thought, then motioned to him. "Though if you're that curious aboiut humans, you and your people couild. You know. Stop kidnapping people at random. You know. Making them disappear? Humans don't like not knowing their safe. Neither do a lot of robots." The woman continued to play, however, and gave Sunstar a lopsided smile, motioning out. "You might be pleasantly surprised when people aren't being utterly idiotic." And then, not missing a note as she played, shew looked inside thoughtfully. The woman played, yes, several minutes, before calling inside. "Sol, sweetheart, it's fine if you want to come see."

"It isn't at random," Sunstar said, shaking his head. "We're searching. What we're seeking doesn't concern you, but know that when we've found it most of those taken will be returned." Those that wouldn't... well, there were reasons for that. Reasons he had no intention of explaining. He did, however, go very still when he heard soft footsteps from inside the house; the unmistakable but very faint sound of servos as a child-sized being not unlike Sunstar himself peeked around the corner, eyes wide and hopeful. "Mom," the small voice said, looking between the stardroid and human, fidgeting slightly in place. "You're not hurt?"

"You need to explain that sort of thing to people." BNrit reached, flicking his nose before smiling. She didn't miss her son's sounds from day one - but presumed he was a prototype his creator abandoned, someone still... Living. The woman smiled, and shook her head, beaming to Sol with a warm smile, motioning to him softly. "No, he just wanted to hear me play. You can come out, I won't let him hurt you." Brit soothed her boy gently, looking to Sunstar with the gaze of a proud - and protective mother. "This is my son, Sol." She crooned proudly. "And my name's Britney. Britney Menefer."

"I see no point in it," Sunstar said, but fell eerily silent as the child crept out of hiding and to his mother's side. There was an unreadable expression on the elder stardroid's face - and then he made a very soft sound; songlike, a chirrup rather than a recognizable word in any Earth-based language. Sol had been about to try and hide a little behind Brit when he heard the warble, and something like recognition came over him as he warbled back, a smile breaking over his features as he bounced. " Dad!" NovaCracker Guess we know what Sunny was searching for huh XD

Redbud-Tree Yup. Have Brit wanting to be a good person and a mom and feeling conflicted by it. The word that came from her son's mouth made her stop suddenly, blinking and looking to Sol with a soft expression. This was... His father? Then... Was her baby being taken away?It had only been a few years-- just a small number, but... His hapiness and well being were so important, and his smile so big that Brit nudged him towards the stardroid gently, smiling. "Why don't you see if he wants to see your room, sweetheart?" Brit offered quietly. "And your things." To bond, reconnect... Surely he'd go with his father....

Sol shook his head, looking between Brit and Sunstar with big eyes. He warbled at his father, then shook his head and impatiently pushed Brit's guitar aside, wiggling into her lap instead. "No," he said simply, and there was an echo of Sunstar's command in his voice, but it faded quickly into a shy giggle. "I want to be with both of you. Please? Just for tonight?" Sunstar, meanwhile, didn't say anything one way or another - but he was looking at Brit with new eyes, something sad and almost lost in the leader of the stardroids' expression. NovaCracker I FORGOT HOW SAD HE COULD BE Brit was well used to Sol's imperious behaviour, hugging him tightly to her and kissing the top of her son's head with a smile. "Well, if your father wants to, and doesn't mind staying in a human apartment." The girl kissed his cheek and smiled, hugging him tightly again. "My sweet little one. You're such a good boy. But if that happens you need to make up the couch for him." Turn out her son's actual parent? No -- but let him have the option to decide? Yes, very much. She was a squyish after all.

Sunstar watched the human woman and his (their?) son interact for a few moments, before nodding shortly. Yes, this was definitely who and what he had come here to find - and that he had found them by something so simple as pausing to hear some music! "For tonight, I don't mind," he said simply, then paused. "...And if you are willing, tomorrow, you may both come with me." Sol's eyes widened and he smiled, hugging Brit impulsively and beaming. "Mama! Say yes? Say yes, please? Just to see?"

This... Seemed important to Sol, but he was the Stardroid's son, and it seemed fair. Plus he was looking at her funny now. Perhaps, answers awaited. "Why not?" Brit shrugged idly, rifling Sol's hair. "If you don't mind me grabbing a prescription refill and a pack or two of Cigs before? My cigs seem to have vanished and I use 'em to keep calm. Medicine's for the emphysema. Don't breathe great." Another shrug, and she hugged Sol again, crooning.

"Perscription, yes, tiny death-sticks no," Sunstar said with a scowl, folding his arms. "Especially if you're already ill with something caused and aggravated by them. He frowned and complained at Sol in the stardroid tongue, but the little boy only shrugged and reached out to hug his Mother instead. Why was this? He finally found her and she was trying to die?!?

Brit obligd happily, picking Sol up to hug him close, and then looked to Sunstar, even cuddling the child to her close. "Well, in my defense, when I started smoking it's not like I had a reason not to. It was good for..." And she covered Sol's ears, lowering her voice. "It helped cut the edge working as a lady of the night so I could feed my siblings and get them to school, alright? And since nobody gives a damn about whores as long as they made adulthood happy and healthy my life didn't matter." Brit looked down guiltily, and kissed the top of Sol's head softly, offering the boy some much given love and affection before looking Sunstar in the eyes. "My parents died. I was all they had and damn if my baby siblings were being treated badly for us being poor, alright? I've done things I don't want to tell Sol about until he's older, but just know none of it is great and I'm lucky I only need emphyzema medication. A cig or two isn't a crime with that in mind is it?"
