Eventually, Catherine decided to read the book related to her knit, the Elementor, as she was waiting for classes to begin. Today's the official day for the first day of classes and there was nothing else for her to do but to do some self-studying. Even the weather was not in her favor today; there was the overcast of clouds and rain was pouring outside. The princess sighed since she would be stuck mostly indoors for the whole day; so much for physical training to release the tension after having to go through books and even writing down the homework with quills and pens. Indeed, she was feeling bummed out right now.

Thankfully, Griselda was also possessing the Elementor knit like her, so the day wouldn't be as bad for that matter. Catherine leaned her head up against the chair, staring at the ornate ceiling above her. There was nothing else but the rain to breach the silence that would otherwise fill the whole room.

The bit of bread sharing that happened before today felt like progress for Griselda. Progress and perhaps something else special, but progress foremost is what her mind told her. Catherine has been rather nice and talkative toward Griselda, although she isn't sure why that is the case. Perhaps the princess is trying to make the best out of her current situation. To be placed in an academy where even a commoner like Griselda attends and be away from the home of royalty must be tough for Catherine. Its a new day, and on this day, classes have officially begun. Like Catherine, Griselda has to go to the Elementor class. The princess was first to get up and get ready, followed by Griselda. She couldn't show up wearing rags to class, so she put on something that isn't quite armor. Her outfit consisted of a white shirt with a brown leather corset, olive pants and brown leather boots. A black belt with her carrying bag attached and tying her hair into a bun were the final touches to her look before she left the dorm and made her way to class. Catherine is already there as expected. Something about her face made Griselda frown slightly. Is she not feeling well? She should ask Catherine to be sure. Once Griselda sat in chair close by, she said,

Truly, Catherine hated it when boredom was getting into her, and while studying was one thing she could do to pass the time, there would certainly be a time in which she would feel tired of it. It was only when she heard Griselda's voice that she straightened up her posture, stretching her arms a bit. Cathy tucked a portion of her hair behind her ear as she replied to the other's words, her voice a bit grumpy as hell. "Obviously, I'm feeling bored right now, having no choice but to do some studying. Weather's no good for physical training, so yeah, I'm not that pleased at all."

More importantly, she was hoping that it wasn't that certain court mage who would show up to inform everyone that they should know their place. The last thing Cathy wanted was an earful from that musician himself. The weather alone was enough of a nuisance to her already bad day.

Despite the less than perfect day this first day of class had Rachel ready to go, more then likely this was going to be the only day though the entire school year that she actually wanted to show up ready to roll. She walked into the classroom ready to go when she saw that she was not in fact the first one to arrive, this put a slightly dampener on her mood and added to the fact that all other days after this it was most likely that she would be late or less inclined to actually show up on times. She looked between the two that had arrived before she walked over to an open seat that was situated dead center of the class just the way she liked it and she sat down.

Indeed, Lerato was planning to be very serious about what he would do for his first class of the day, even if there would be looks of consternation from his students. His aura held an enormous trace of audacity and intimidation, as expected of a perfectionist who doesn't give a damn about what the others would think of him. Without giving the students a time to react, he tapped his book and bag down on the table, the noise intending to catch their attention, together with a loud clearing of his throat. “Good morning, dear students. My name's Lerato Sanchez, and I'll be your substitute Elementor professor for the time being until there will be a replacement willing to guide you on your education. With that being said, I expect you all to be on your best behavior. No complaints, no second thoughts. Listen to everything that I have to explain for today's lesson, because I can only discuss it once and I deserve your full attention." His eyes were then glaring at Catherine, the number one rascal in his book, for a moment before moving away.

And like a scholar willing to discuss everything that he had to explain, he went on at full speed, writing on the board, his voice clean and crisp as he explained each and every aspect. Today's lesson was about the basic fundamentals of the Elementor knit, how to harness such power, and even the strengths and weaknesses. In fact, he was planning to give them a surprise quiz soon as a test to see if they obeyed his orders. While not all students would like his approach, all he wanted was for them to do their best if they wanted to pass. Duels were one thing to progress even further, but education was extremely important, and he would not back down so easily.

"Oh...well...M-Maybe the weather will get better...T-Then you can train..."

There wasn't much confidence in Griselda's voice as she told Catherine that perhaps the weather will improve. Its not like Griselda can control the weather. Its likely that today they will just have to take a break from training. Not like Griselda would complain since it meant that she didn't have to put too much stress on her heel, but she can understand the boredom behind standing or sitting with nothing to do. Of course, this all depends on what happens during class today. Shortly after Griselda finished talking, another student and the teacher arrived to the classroom, the substitute teacher to be more specific. This teacher is none other than Lerato Sanchez, the court mage who was at the orientation whose music soothed the masses so that the headmaster could speak. The moment he stepped into the classroom, he did not waste time with what he had to do. First came the introductions, then telling the students to be on their best behavior as he goes through today's lesson. In that time frame, Griselda brought out her paper, ink bottle and a quill to write with. As soon as he began to write on the board and explaining the basics of the Elementor knit, Griselda wasted no time writing notes that she felt were important to remember.

Rachel listened to the two red haired girls speak for a short time, training? She had wanted to do that for quite some time but then she never really got around to it and despite wanting so much to do such a thing she just got bored of even thinking about it and so Rachel couldn't help but stare at the one of the red haired girls in slight surprise before she turned her head back to the front of the room.

She looked at the teacher in front of her and frowned...substitute huh? She saw the glare that he gave one of the red haired girls but she didn't think anything of it, maybe just his way of trying to intimidate some of them into paying attention to a person they would be less than likely to have to bother with again for some time... unless the actual teacher never showed his/her face. Rachel shivered at the thought, being taught by someone who quite possibly didn't know what they were talking about made her nervous, she didn't want her education screwed with because someone wasn't well trained or half-assing it.

However when the teacher...Lee-Rahh-toe, began to write and apparently speak and full speed she opened the top of her bag slightly and moved her fingers slightly, looking up at the substitute as the quill slowly lifted out of her bag by a small metal ring that had been placed at the base of the feather. She let it rest on her desk before she took out the ink and placed it next to the pen followed by some coarse and uneven parchment. Next she brought a hand up, watching the teacher write on the board- as she made an attempt to actually look interested in what was being written. Bringing her right hand to her left she took a very thin iron ring from her pinky finger and laid it next to the quill, her eyes darting away from the teacher long enough so that she could watch as the ring from her finger reshaped to the point of the quill up to the first fray of the feather. She moved her fingers and the quill lifted, a little unsteady at first before it dipped itself into the ink and she brought it to the paper steadily. She moved her fingers delicately in the air and the iron covered quill followed suit to her movements as she copied down what the teacher wrote on the board... however about halfway though the parchment was soon starting to become home to several tiny little swirls as Rachel became distracted and started twirling her fingers every so often before looking back at the board to write down something new, finding what she heard very...repetitive, of her first year so far.

Cathy could only stay silent at Griselda's words of reassurance, not knowing what else to say because she had the urge to scream something obscene but had to resist the urge. The loud banging of the book and bag on the desk made her turn her head to see who came and her heart dropped at the sight of the terror teacher. Great, one of her worst fears had been confirmed at that moment, all so because the teacher had caught her goofing around or even speaking without thinking. Not to mention that there was the glare from the court mage and the princess internally shivered; she may be prepared for physical training, but not when it came to assessing the situation in places intermingled with the commoners.

Nonetheless, she tried to behave as much as possible, writing notes diligently and then listening to the lecture. Thankfully, it was something that was familiar with her since it was her Knit, though there was much more than harnessing her own raiment. She could only hope that as long as she would get on Lerato's good side for once, she would be spared... for now.

Lerato smirked, glad to know that everyone had listened intently to the lesson since it was partly due to fear of pissing him off. But still, he kept his gaze locked onto the princess as if he was ready to shoot laser beams at her. The court mage decided to hold off questioning as they were copying the notes, an element of surprise that he had to take. After ten minutes, he swiftly erased everything on the board, ignoring the possible grunts of students who failed to catch up before the surprise act. “Okay, now time for your quiz. You will only pass if you get at least half of the total items right. You have twenty minutes, and it starts right now." That was his only statement before he began writing on the questions.

Once he was done jotting down the items, his eyes were watching every one of them like Brageet, the trusted pet owl of his boyfriend, sharp and accurate. Anyone who dared to cheat wouldn't stay safe under his watch and he made sure it would stay that way as long as he was one of the court mages guiding the students to a brighter future. His methods would always be related to tough love.

Despite Lerato's speed in teaching today's lesson about the Elementor, Griselda matched his pace with her note taking and paid close attention to what he had to say. Some of what he said is already familiar to her since she has already been at this academy for two years. What she didn't anticipate is a quiz. That isn't something a teacher normally does on the first day of class. Is this a real test or is this practice? Regardless, Griselda pulled out another slip of paper from her carrying bag and dipped her quill in her ink jar as Lerato began writing down the questions. With every question he wrote down, she marked them down by number and provided an answer for each one. Some were easy, others took a bit of time to think over. As soon she wrote down the final answer for the last question, she set her quill into the ink jar and waited patiently for what will come next.

Rachel blinked hard, squeezing her eyelids together as she saw the writing that had taken over the board before looking over at her paper covered in cute little swirls...well. Rachel frowned as she put the paper at the edge of her desk and stopped moving the ink quill. She would reach back into her bag and pull out a second paper, picking up the quill with her hand this time instead of attempting to use her raiment. She began to write down the answers to the questions posed in front of her.

She bit her lip gently as she flicked her fingers and caused the tails of the letters to elongate as she continued writing. She stopped herself from getting to distracted, her paper only baring a few swirls of ink by the time she was finished. She put her quill back down and looked at the paper, despite the swirls that randomly decorated the paper it looked pretty professional looking. Rachel moved the paper forward so it rested at the edge of her desk to indicate that she was done. She was certain she got half of the questions right, the basic stuff for sure. She folded her hands together and looked up at the substitute in silence.

Catherine grunted mentally on the quiz that was given to her by Lerato; her day just got worse by that next step. Nonetheless, she had to push through anyway, looking through the questions diligently before pondering for answers, writing them down afterward. In fact, she was even scratching her scalp slightly with a free hand, meaning she was having a hard time. Cathy was truly getting frustrated with each passing second, but she resisted the urge to scream. The last thing that she wanted was to get another lecture from the court mage himself because of her sour attitude towards him. Again, she still had to remain on his good side.

Luckily, she only had five minutes to spare when she was finally done with the quiz, putting the quill back in its proper place in the ink bottle before mentally sighing in relief. Heavens, she was glad that she was able to push through even with the fact that she was starting to have a migraine from thinking so hard, especially on the difficult questions.

The court mage was about to say that the time was up for the quiz, but all of them had finished before he could do so. Smirking, he faced each one of them, scanning like a hawk ready to devour its prey. “Seems that all of you are doing a great job in finishing the surprise quiz. Now, pass the papers to me so that I'll start checking them." Once the papers were passed, he inspected them one by one, having to go through each them thoroughly. Lerato would make sure that they would get the message, that they should study hard in order to impress him. Any troublemakers, like Catherine herself, would not be safe under his watch, more so because she should be the role-model everyone must emulate.

After checking the papers, he gave each of them the scores. Catherine ended up being in the last place but still passed by a few points higher than the others. Indeed, she was still a disappointment to him, though she had slightly improved over the years. However, she still had a long way to go if she would like to be on the same level as him. The other two girls were not that bad either, though Griselda scored higher by three points than Rachel's.

Did Griselda enjoy the surprise quiz? Not at all. Surprises make her nervous. Preparation for whatever lies ahead of her is where she shines, but to give her a surprise like this in a classroom setting doesn't register well with her. If this teacher is expecting the best out of her from a surprise like this, there is no way that will happen. After the papers were collected, she had to play with her fingers nervously as her mind raced with thoughts. Did she answer question three correctly? What about question five? Even the first question ought to be something so basic but she feels like she messed up. What made it worse for her is that the teacher hasn't given back the papers or at least tell them the results of their surprise quiz. However, she didn't want to cause a scene or make the teacher upset, so she will remain quiet for the time being. She looked toward Catherine and immediately frowned seeing that she was frustrated. There is nothing that Griselda can say that will cheer up the princess, at least not right now. Maybe after class the two of them will talk.
