It would be several long minutes after Terry gained consciousness that he would risk opening his eyes. He'd thought going into the Sahara, learning that it was a Famine Horseman nest was weird. He'd thought discovering Atlantis was weird. He'd thought playing and winning a Children's Card Game over in Halloween was weird.

But this whole experience of not simply becoming a Death Horseman but living as one? That was just painful. Not because of those high heels, although they did pinch at his toes while making his ankles look great in them. No, it hurt because it was an entire lifetime that he lived and thoroughly felt at home in. Not merely existed in but truly well lived in. He had a history and he had a future. There were plans as much as memories and things he would have liked to look back on.

That it had all been nothing more than a really long, messed up dream? Or fine, a simulation of a life like in Sword Art Online? Wherein everyone could have been Kirito minus all the waifu harem potentials. (Clearly, because Terry had not seen any harems happening in the Dusk there must not have been any going on.) But waifus or hasubando and best girl/boy wars aside, the life trainee wanted nothing more than to return to Death. It had been a much less complicated life for him as a Horseman. It had been a much better life to be honest. Things did not revolve around petty personal drama (although there were a couple of "horsemen" that he could have done without) or clansmen did not go around trying to use each other for personal gain as the social structure involved a common, united goal.

Yes, "Clan" loyalty was a thing, it would always be a thing much to Terry's annoyance, but overall one could trust the other. He wished the same could be said about Deus and the people in it. And that was the problem, wasn't it? The Dusk was populated with Horsemen, beings who were... well, who weren't human, beings who were very much better than humans in very many ways.

It was terrible to no longer be one of them, but Terry also always knew his parents were right and that he would never amount to anything. And wasn't that why he turned to escapist bullshit? Wasn't that why joined up? Because he thought he should be so much more. Unfortunately, Life was proving him that at the end of it all, he was absolutely nothing more than a mediocre human.

His only hope was that no one would realize what a huge fraud he really was or that they too knew themselves to be poor pathetic fools playing at adequacy.

As his brain slowly began to process the basics all over again, Milo's first pondering was just how many times this was going to happen to him. Well, that was a very loaded question or at least one that was meant for several specifics; both large weird island wide disasters every time he seemed to come home from long extended missions as well as getting himself trapped and experience some sort of weird different life.

The extent of the damage to the rest of the island was unknown to him, he had barely managed to get out of his room as it was - hadn't he just put down his bag? - which seemed largely untouched aside from the large amount of dust that had collected from his extended stay away. But judging the state of a few of the rooms, his makeshift down and the commotion and scurry of the other Hunters it didn't seem like things were going all that great. Milo frowned lightly then glanced at Noemi's door across the way, there didn't seem to be anyone within. That could be a good or bad sign; either she was safe somewhere.. or... not. Not something he really wanted to think about and if he didn't find her on his own, he'd probably have to send a message (he preferred the former).

Might as well make himself useful, perhaps, so he retreated out to the hallway and began to make his way up while the pieces of the other problem began to settle into place. It was also something he honestly didn't want to dwell on, other memories trying to stick was sometimes annoying; one of those which are real kind of things. It was worse than trying to recall random trivia from television shows because at least those were fun idioms that came in handy, or were amusing when brought up.

Not remembering being a Horseman, despite it not being... awful? Well, fighting himself wasn't exactly awesome, but the wings had been handy. The almost carefree lifestyle, his sort of job that he had and the... Milo stopped in his tracks as something else came to the surface and he made a face. A little horrified, and with himself.

He flirted with ... just about everyone.

< Oh my, what will your cute little ghoul think of you if she ever finds out? > Koume chuckled while Milo continued to wince.

She's not going to find out, because she doesn't need to know and... its not important.

< Oh, but it'd be fun to see her reaction! >

That seemed like the opposite of her usual intentions, to get him to admit to something there between them. Urg, he scratched at his head trying to get the thoughts out of his head. None of this was important right now to think about. It hadn't been real (right?) and right now was and he should be going to help... somewhere. Anywhere, to get his mind off yet another weird adventure he had had in his dreams.

Joy bolted upright, no slowly opening of her eyes, no lazy stretching, no spending another five minutes half-asleep and half-awake. The intermediate Moon trainee was on her feet and doing a full examination of herself for any new scars, be they self-inflicted or gained from outside sources. When it became clear that she had no new additions, be it body parts or scars, Joy wasn't sure if she felt relieved or disappointed.

Yes, having her ******** name carved up on her arm like that would have been freaky as s**t and vain as hell come to think, but she would have liked to keep the wings. That weird-a** dream Dorothy arranged, damn it, Joy actually enjoyed it far more than she enjoyed having been a hunter so far. Which, if one seriously considered the situation, was beyond ******** up.

How many hunters did she kill in that situation? How many humans did she thoughtlessly play with and torture? And why was she feeling guilty for feeling no guilt about it all throughout the dream? Shouldn't that make sense given that she'd been a War Horseman? Those ******** with their butt-wings and freedom of flight and just-

Stop. Her weapon's voice was a jarring thing. However long she truly spent in that simulation of the Dusk, it felt like she lived an entire lifetime. The silence in her own head was familiar and normal, it had been something she lived with before becoming a Hunter. To be reminded of it, and to so abruptly lose it again, it made Joy want to cry.

Her sorrow caused a spike of resentment, a stabbing ice cold sensation in the back of her head, but Joy just shrugged it off. She shrugged Berto and his feelings off because she couldn't stand being a hunter for much more. There were so much of her life before Deus that she missed, which she had as Liya and lacked as Joy.

Enough. Bert's reedy voice sounded surprisingly gentle, if exasperated. You're still here. Who else?

Joy finally took a good look at her room, saw it was largely untouched. Good, no one got to the flat. But once she stepped outside, she saw the steps needed repairs, and the kitchen's range was still usable (thankfully). The runic oven needed replacing however, but after all the s**t she'd done as a Horseman and that mirror showing her a good number of them rampaging all over the island, things looked livable in her and Kai's flat.

Oh s**t! Kai!

... is this Deus?

Sitting up and looking around himself, Kyle gave a sigh of relief when he realized that he was back on the island. He was home. Thank goodness. He wouldn't know what to do if he was still stuck in that tower, trapped in the body of that War horseman Rook. Closing his eyes briefly, the Sun hunter took a moment to sift through his memories, trying to see what all he was able to recall. It was the worst thing that could happen to any of them. To be deceived into thinking that they were the enemies that they as hunters had sworn to fight against. He dared not imagine what would happen if he was stuck in that form and was helpless to do anything about it. He would be driven insane certainly.

Opening his eyes again, Kyle slowly got up and surveyed the damage that had been done to the buildings around him. The main headquarters building was split in two, a chunk of the infirmary was gone as was the cafeteria that had been levelled entirely to the ground. Holy s**t. What about the dorms? What about his room? What about Matt? Was the older Moon hunter alright?

He ran as fast as he could towards the dorm building which looked relatively intact from the outside, making a beeline towards his room that was located in the basement first. B30. Alright. Here goes nothing then. Bracing himself for the worst, Kyle threw open the door to his room and stepped inside. ... phew. Everything was alright save for a wall shelf that was partially dislodged from the wall. He might be sharing Matt's room that was on the first level with the older intermediate hunter but he still kept most of his things here in his own room in the basement given the space constraints.

Closing the door to his room, the Sun started to head up the stairs towards the first floor where Matt's room was, a pensive expression crossing his face now at the memory of his last encounter back at the tower with Matt when the both of them suddenly realized that they were hunters trapped in the body of a horseman. Matt was distrustful, hostile and had adamantly refused to open the door for him. If he remembered everything from back there, surely Matt would too.

Kyle was starting to worry now over how the recent events might affect Matt. The Moon hunter had been around far longer than he had and it was obvious from his reaction back there that he had no love for the horsemen and what they did. Standing before Matt's room now, he raised his hand to knock on the door and announce his presence. "Matt? It's me Kyle. Are you in there?"
