If there was anything Lydia was used to, it was being alone in a strange place without any idea of where she was or how she was going to get out. In fact, it was a situation exactly like that which had landed her on Deus as a hunter in the first place.
Considering the fact that she was still standing here, however, was proof enough of her resourcefulness. When things got tough, she just had to get tougher! Small as she was, and often times clumsy and loud, and even quite ridiculous the majority of the time, she was still smart, and feisty, when the need called for it.
She had, after all, survived an attack by a giant spider, avoided being fish food for a kraken, and had unloaded a shotgun on a dragon, once upon a time, before she was even a hunter. If ever she thought that she couldn't do something, she just had to think back to that nightmare of an experience.
So, while she might have felt a bit of panic, waking up alone and in unfamiliar surroundings which instincts dictated she aught to try and escape from as quickly as possible, she put one foot in front of the other, starting at a walk, before shifting into a jog, and then a full out run as she looked left and right, her breath huffing out in short bursts, looking for something, anything that appeared promising enough for an escape.
It wasn't long before she realized she was being followed.
"Who's there?" She asked, a panicked lilt in her tone despite efforts to remain calm, as she slowed to a stop. She turned, and squinted through her glasses, at first only seeing shadows.
And then.
"Oh!" A sound of surprise, as a gorgeous creature, something that only vaguely resembled her, moved forward.
"I suppose it's me. Just me." The woman with dark blue locks smiled, her eyes slightly unfocused, as if she were dreaming. "Well, me and you, of course."
The woman paused, as if thinking, her brow furrowing slightly, "For now, at least."
Well, that sounded ominous, and Lydia took a few steps back. "Well, it sounds like you might rather be alone? So how about I just go this way," She gestured behind her, "And you....go some other way." That seemed safest, really.
"Oh. Oh no, I don't think that would work at all." Said the other woman, giving her head a sad shake, her smile fading away. "Because no matter what way you go, that's the way I will need to go as well."
She smiled again, then, something bright and full of teeth.
"If I just kill you, however, then I can be on my way!"
"Ah, yaaaaaa...I would really rather you didn't? I mean, I'm still...I'm just...." Her words began to stop and start and halt as she backed up, but finally she stopped, and let out a short sigh, her weapon, the cat o'nine tails, flashing to existence into her hand.
"I have somebody I need to find." She finally managed, "And I'm sorry, but I can't just let you stop me. You are very beautiful, though. I am really, really sorry about this."
"I don't think I will be." The other woman replied, her own weapons forming in her hands, two viciously curved blades on short handles held between her fingers on both hands, but connected by a chain.
With a deep breath and some mental encouragement to herself, Lydia ran forward, whip lifted, swinging, and lashing out when she got close enough, striking down at the woman's body diagonally, shoulder to hip. The problem with getting close enough to do so, however, meant that she was putting herself in range of those blades, which, while she tried to turn away from managed to catch her in the side.
She flinched, but spun around, whipping her cat o'nine tails around overhead, it's barbed tails swinging through the air and slapping the other woman clean across the face as the horseman,(for that's what she was, Lydia realized) lunged towards her.
The strike appeared to be enough, the woman shrieking and clutching at her face even as she melted back into shadow.
Lydia, breathing heavily, stared at the space where the woman had been for a moment before slumping to her knees, one hand pressing against her chest, her heart feeling as if it might break out of her rib cage. She stayed like this for quite some time, eyes closing, before she drug herself back up to her feet.
She had told the horseman that she had somebody to find, and that had been the truth. If there was anybody else here, she knew he would be. And what if he needed her help?
The thought was enough to get her moving again.
