VIVEKA
Name: Viveka Baslet (Viv, Veka)
Viveka: Meaning "Little Woman"; A name I gave one of my OCs who is a sculptor and future weapons crafter. Baslet: From the Fairy Basslet, a small, colorful fish.
Blood colour: #3489A8
Gender: Male
Symbol:
Profile:
Viveka is a lovely troll, if he can say so himself. Despite not being on the tip-top of the hemospectrum, he sees himself as the best of his color and displays himself accordingly. Only the finest fabrics, best shoes, and hair care products will suit him, and he's willing to go many lengths to keep it that way. He's not above batting his eyelashes and making compromises for something he wants, and in fact, he seems nothing less than cooperative and considerate. If he can help you just as much as you can help him, it's a wonderful deal.
Like many highbloods such as himself, Viveka is artistic and uses his talent to sculpt things from clay or other materials near his hive. He doesn't mind getting himself dirty in the name of his craft; living by a lake has it's perks after all, and can spend entire days working on and refining a single piece. He aims to become a Weaponsmith one day and fashion weapons mostly for those of higher caste who are willing to pay a high price. As a child, however, he's content selling small metal daggers and glass jewelry from a stand on weekends. Though, if someone has the right coin or are willing to do him a favor, he'll take custom orders.
All pleasantries aside, Viveka is all about his future and how his work can help him afford all the best things in life. His dedication to his work is fueled by anxieties over how the world around him could come crashing down and take everything away in an instant, leaving him at rock bottom without a way to climb back up. He doesn't want to live his life like some sniveling low-blood street trash and this fear alone keeps him up at night over a hot-fire, working himself to the bone and leaving his body tired, breathless, and covered in sweat.
However, Viveka takes great comfort in his belief that he is the best blueblood that has ever been born. Though the hemospectrum keeps him just underneath total perfection, his looks, skills, and earnings reflect and bolster his sense of self-confidence to the point of obsession. If he happens to have a bad day on the job or with sales, it isn't his fault, but the fault of everyone else around him. With all the work he's put into this, he knows that everything he brings to the table is perfect, he doesn't even have to say so. Flawlessness shines right off of them and it reflects back onto him. After all, the beauty of the creation can only tell of the beauty of it's creator, right?
As a blueblood, Viveka is just below the top tier trolls of society according to the hemospectrum, and while he feels that he is the best of his blood color, he doesn't want to challenge the system. To him, the hemospectrum is what keeps troll society sane and functional, and his place is where he was meant to be placed. In fact, he believes that every single troll has been placed where they were for a reason, and if they work hard enough for what they want in life, they should be allowed to take it. For the sake of business and image, he tries to treat everyone who approaches him equally, espescially if they can pay. Outside of work, however, the only trolls he'll give the utmost respect to regardless of how they treat him are purplebloods and seadwellers, because upsetting his superiors is absolutely out of the question. Anyone his caste or lower? He'll respect them as long as they don't act like they're better than him. If they do, he'll gladly remind them of where they belong.
----
Strengths:
Approachable/Cooperative: Viveka is as friendly as he is gentle on the eyes. He's easy to talk to and eager to work to make compromises or deals, especially if it can be mutually beneficial. Trolls of a similar personality will find him easiest to get along with, but he'll make an effort to work with everyone as best he can. You win more customers friends with honey than you do with vinegar, he always says.
Creative: Sculpting, pottery, and weapons crafting, all of these things are what Viveka lives and breathes. He absolutely loves working with his hands and will get right down and dirty in a pit of clay whenever he wants, even in his best clothes. And when inspiration hits him when he doesn't have his materials around, he carries a pad and pen with him so he can scribble a quick sketch.
Diligent: Nothing stops Viveka from finishing his work or being the best he can be at anything he tries. If a certain piece is being difficult, he won't give up until he's made several dozen attempts. The end result of anything he does is to feel a sense of fulfillment and desired completion. Anything more is a bonus and anything less is more reason to keep going until he gets that feeling.
Flaws:
Anxious: Though sheer willpower alone helps him get through the day, what truly fuels Viveka is a flurry of anxiety. He can never satisfy that little voice in the back of his head that tells him of all the bad things that could happen or ignore it's screams to keep going when he really should be getting a good night's sleep. This is a double edged sword, keeping him both on his toes and up to date with his workload, but never well-slept or truly calm.
Pompous: Viveka knows that he's better than everyone else, even if he won't outright say it. He's loyal to the hemospectrum and knows that it should never be questioned, but he still believes that he is the best of his bloodcolor, and that his creative abilities only serve to prove it. Combined with his good looks and spectacular clothes, it's hard not to see that he carries an air of superiority with him. However, it is possible to push him to the point where he would feel the need to "remind you" of how much more important he is. What he provides is a luxury and he won't have people comparing, critiquing, or out-right criticizing him. His return criticism of you will come freely, sharp-toothed, and with a reminder to "please come again."
Materialistic: All the best things in life, according to Viveka, are bought, sold, and produced only for those who can afford them. These things are everything that he wants and hopes to attain, and he would do anything to get them. The latest trends, jewelry, and clothes are of the utmost importance to him, and blowing through his entire savings to have them is perfectly reasonable to do. Trolls, on the other hand, are valued based on how much they can provide for him. Being a low-blood doesn't necessarily mean that you aren't of value to him, but having money is certainly a perk. Those who can't pay or, at the very least trade something of value, are shooed away irregardless of blood-color or status. However, Viveka won't risk the reputation of his business or himself by blackmailing or selling someone out for money. There are limits to his greed, and putting himself in a place where he could potentially lose everything isn't something he's willing to do.

ECHO
Lusus: Echo is a large, dragon-like lusus that is capable of floating in mid-air, as well as breathing underwater. His body is long and winding, but with a definitive end and spine that allows him to sit, bend, and wiggle into tight spaces. Along the sides of his body are three sets of arms with sharp claws (front, middle, and near the end of his tail/behind), which he uses to attack, pick things up, and gather materials for Viveka.
The creature himself is quite old, but in no-sense of the word wise or all-knowing. He gets himself tangled in trees and shrubs quite frequently and, like any old man, forgets where he's going and why. This makes trips anywhere cumbersome for both him and his charge. However, he makes up for this by being useful, caring, and an excellent place to rest after a long day working with clay and fire.
Viveka is close to Echo, but in no way attached at the hip to him, and it's likewise for Echo. This doesn't mean that they don't care for one another or wouldn't dread to see the other die, it's simply an acknowledgement that they can be independent of one another. Echo is a doting, attentive father, but knows that his charge isn't a troll who needs constant supervision or guidance. Over the years, as Viveka has grown through his craft and trials of maturity, they've developed a system of trust and a flexible parent-child relationship. If one of them should need the other more than usual, everything stops and they take care of each other. If one needs more time to themselves for relaxation or work, then the other respects that need and waits patiently. So far, it's been a very good way for them to live and they don't feel a need to change it.
