"Mim, I think we've gone far enough.." Lífþrasir's voice came a** a harsh whisper as he followed his sister through the bush, branches occasionally scraping against his side. They had been exploring the land around their home - at least their home for now as their parents wandered quite a lot - and it was fine except now the sun was setting and the scent of rain was on the air. It was getting dark fast and the wind was whipping around them. "I think we should turn back..," he looked over his shoulder at the way they'd come - already he couldn't make out any path they had taken. "Mim," he whined louder.
Mímameiðr groaned and turned at her brother's protest. "I know exactly where we are, just follow me. I heard there's a cool looking rock this way," she raised a brow. "You're not scared, are you?" Her chest puffed out a little, ears twitching. The storm was going to be bad - she'd learnt enough in her short time since emerging from her basket to know the signs. They'd seen two bad storms in that time - huddled together under her father's protection, their trees almost stripped bare of leaves from the wind.
Mim's tree was only a sapling but it stood tall and strong on her back. It would grow with her, as her father's had but when she would stop it would continue to grow until it slowed her. No one seemed to mind. No one seemed to understand how much of a burden it would be. She wanted to run through the world, not dawdle. She'd never be able to stand in water past her ankles, lest she sink and drown.
She hoped the storm did get back and it ripped the tree from her back.
"Mim?" Lif head butted her gently, bringing her out of her thoughts. "I think we should find shelter.."
Mim shook her head, tossing her dark thoughts aside. She was too much of a coward to risk the pain that would come with such an act. It might very well kill her and then it would be for nothing. A crack of lightning lit the ground around them, blinding the foals temporarily, quickly followed by a booming clap of thunder that had them both crying out.
"Over there!" Mim motioned towards a large oak tree, sturdy and comfortable with its roots spreading out for miles. .There was a hollow in it and the foals climbed in just as the rain started to pour. They huddled together, shivering though it was not yet cold.

Shinkuriyuu's red orbs looked up at the sky, seeing some menacing gray clouds from the gaps in the foliage of the trees. He sighed softly, it looked like he might get caught up in a storm once more. Maybe he would manage to find shelter this time, considering he was actually not in a meadow this time. That paired with the fact that he wasn't trying to protect little mice might give him a chance to get somewhere dry for this storm. He braced himself as the wind began to pick up, not wanting it to knock him off his feet. Then there was a flash of light that nearly blinded him and a crash of thunder. His ears swiveled forward as he thought he heard screams coming from not too far away. He started off in the direction it had come from, wondering if it could be others in trouble.
"Hello??"she called out over the howling wind. He could only hope the wind he was struggling against would carry his message. He continued pressing forward, feeling he was close to where he heard the yells come from.

Lífþrasir sniffed and huddled closer to his sister, eyes shutting tight and ears pinned back. He didn't do well in storms - the lightning hurt his eyes and the thunder his ears. He peeked up only for a moment, tears already welling in his eyes as he looked at his sister accusingly. "I knew we'd gone too far."
He whimpered and sniffled again, a sob catching in his throat. "What are we gonna do now? How are we going to find our way back?"
Mímameiðr frowned slightly at her brother, whimpering beneath her. Wasn't it supposed to be the other way around? How is it the youngest ended up being the brave one. She shifted underneath his weight, releiving some of the pressure. Her ears pricked and she stared out into the darkness, silencing her brother with a loud 'sh'. "I heard someone calling out. It might be papa." She didn't reveal their position right away. It could be their father come searching for them or it could be a stranger. She huddled herself and her brother further into the shadows of the oak. "Stay quiet until we see who it i- Wait! Lif!" she called out frantically as her brother tore from the safety of the oak.
Lif just wanted to go home. It had to have been their father come looking for them and he wouldn't find them in the tree. "Papa! We're over here!" He called as loud as he could and even still he wasn't certain he would be heard over the cacophony of the storm. The rain pelted him and stung as it hit, his eyes squinted. A bolt of lightning struck the ground some meters away and he screamed, falling to the ground in a pile. There, he sobbed.
Mim wasted no time in coming out of the safety of the oak tree. She ran to her brother, stumbling in puddles and the sopping ground. She crouched over him, using her body to shield him from the rain. "It's okay, Lif. Papa will be here soon." For the first time in her life she wished her tree was grown so that she might be able to protect her brother. He was scared and she was mad at herself for looking down on him for it. She closed her eyes tightly and clung to her brother tighter, shivering.

Shinkuriyuu stood in the spot, keeping his ears attuned for any reply back from his call. The rain came down on him, causing his bangs to start to be plastered to his face. He was just thinking that maybe he had been hearing things, when he heard a cry from what sounded like a small voice. It sounded like someone looking for their papa and it sounded like they were scared, least from what he could get over all the noise of the storm. He blew on his orange strands obscuring his view, before trying to see in the darkness. A bolt of lightning illuminated his path, though it had been dangerously close to where the cry had come from. There, he could make out a form in the brief flicker of light, at least giving him something to go on. He began moving towards the form, hoping the little one was alright. It didn't take long for him to come upon what seemed to be two foals, not just one.
"Are either one of you hurt? I heard you calling for your father, is he nearby? You are both pretty young, so surely he must be around...least I would think so,"he spoke as soothingly as he could. He tried to block the wind from the two foals as best as he could with his body.
