Byakuya Nishi Pride of the Nishi Byakuya was the pride of his coven. The sole vampire successfully born through reproduction. His incredible strength exceeded that of other vampires, and even his senses were far more heightened than others. He could survive in the sun up to five hours - six if he was lucky - before feeling ill; yet, his skin did not ever burn from the bright orb's rays. Byakuya was able to utilize his true form in ways others couldn't; he could hone in on only one sound or scent or sight, and fly at speeds unimaginable. And, he had created his own power using the blood of wildlife.
Truly, he was the very creature other vampires desired to be or simply desired.
However, everyone had at least one flaw, and that included the very image of perfection himself. Byakuya cared too much for his pets. The humans he raised from infancy for the sole purpose of providing him with blood he knew was untainted. His coven were known for their particularly fair treatment of humans they owned; Byakuya was no different. However, he was a nomad. He did not have the coven to help him fight at all times. As a result, he was unusually reckless when it came to his pets. He had to be, as he was alone in their defense. So, naturally, when his pet and her two children were attacked, he acted on the sole instinct to protect them. Thus, his current situation.
Byakuya leaned against a tree in the center of a small wood that was dangerously close to a human castle. He struggled to stay conscious as his wounds and fatigue only worsened. His armor was shattered, his clothes torn; both revealing the horribly deep wounds across his body. His hair stuck to his face and neck, glued by his own blood. The usual image of perfection was now an image of death. If not for his coarse breathing and the look of utter determination in his golden eyes, he would undoubtedly be mistaken for a dead man. If any single member of his coven saw him in this state, they would wage war. Their pride rendered to near death in such a way; it was unforgivable. Byakuya knew his mother and father in particular would slaughter anything that got close to him now.
Tired eyes moved to look at the three humans that were fast asleep, curled up together. The children were fine, but the mother was injured. Her arm was broken in more places than one, and he was sure she'd sustained a head injury. He would be unable to feed from her until she was fully healed; he wouldn't risk wounding her further, and it wasn't even an option to take blood from the children. They were only six and four; far too young to start feeding a vampire. So, he was stuck in this battered position until he was healed enough to move again. But, he was finding it difficult to stay awake as he recovered, and soon lost the ability to do just that. Byakuya drifted into a recuperating slumber. At least he had managed to kill the vampire that did all this. Other than the nearby castle and its inhabitants, they was safe for the time being.

Jasmine The young princess had slipped out of the palace and was in the woods looking to get a bit of freedom from the guards and rules that plagued her very existence. As she was heading through trees she noticed broken armor and wondered just what the issue was. Looking up the path she saw blood, and that meant someone or something had been hurt. Jasmine new of the vampires and had been raised to be cautious, but she was unsure of how to actually feel about them. As she looked closer to the trail, things seemed a bit off to her but she continued on. Anyone in her forest was under the protection of her family and therefor she had to help whoever it was. Once she reached Byakuya she gasped and went to the man's side unaware of if he was human or not. The children and woman she knew were human for sure. The fact that this male was badly injured could only mean two things, he was attacked by a vampire, or he had fought one. "Sir, Im going to help you." She said softly wondering if he would wake or not. Of course the fact he had unusual markings and white hair made her think of one particular clan she had heard of, but why would any of them be close to her home?

Byakuya Pride of the Nishi Byakuya wasn't sure how long he'd been resting, but given how little the pain had subsided, he could guess not very long. He didn't wake up immediately; his body wouldn't allow him to. Byakuya had to force himself to open his eyes to look at the human that was there with him. Gold irises, dulled from fatigue, landed on the young woman. She wasn't all that older than his pet; in fact, she was probably a couple years younger than her. His nose took in her scent while he tiredly scanned her body. Clearly, this woman was of some form of nobility. Or, perhaps, a consort to a noble.
"...Feed. I need to feed." To take blood from a human that wasn't a pet was, for the most part, irregular. It wasn't against coven law in desperate situations, but nonetheless, it was frowned upon. He would accept punishment for the act, but he needed blood or he would never heal.
The youngest of the two children, the daughter, suddenly whimpered and his eyes immediately whipped to her. He couldn't move his arms to comfort her, so instead willed the fur on his shoulder to move and cover the small family in order to dissipate the child's fear. He then looked back to the woman that came to help him.

Jasmine When the male opened his eyes Jasmine took a step back only to be sure that he didn't think she was a threat. She wasn't sure what she was dealing with, but the golden eyes told her he was a vampire. The children and woman had to be his pets if he was with them. She was brought out of her trance when the male said he had to feed. Without thinking she held out her arm for him not sure what she was doing. "Take my blood then." She said not really sure just what was going to happen. As a child whined the strange fur on the vampire's shoulder seemed to move and she looked at it. These children weren't afraid of the vampire or whatever was on his shoulder. "Its going to be sun up soon, I cant bring you to the castle in your current state my parents would stake you themselves."

Byakuya Pride of the Nishi The offer of her blood took him by surprise. Either this woman was just as reckless as he had recently been or she knew exactly what she was doing and just didn't care. Either way, it was an offer he couldn't afford to refuse. However, he wouldn't take very much. If he took all the blood he needed to heal completely from her, she'd pay an irreversible price. He struggled to lift his arm and grab onto hers, bringing to close to his lips. Using the sharp nail on his thumb, he made a well-placed but shallow cut on her wrist. He took just enough to where he was able to move his limbs again and had enough strength to do so before licking the cut to seal it.
"I'll be fine. The sun won't harm me." Well, by harm, he of course meant that it wouldn't burn him. He'd get sick from the light and heat after awhile, but as long as he stayed in the shade of the trees, he should be able to stay safe form that for most of the day. "...You are not afraid of me. Why is that?"
His eyes shined now, no longer clouded by fatigue. His wounds were still bleeding, but seemed to be taking care of themselves. It would be a few days before they were closed, though. Byakuya couldn't risk keeping his pets with him while he recovered. If they were attacked again, he'd fail to protect them in his current state.
"May I ask a favor of you? While I recover, could you shelter them in your castle?" He gestured to the family beneath his fur, though he really didn't have to. "If they must earn their keep, I'm afraid Ayame is hurt. She won't be able to be of much use with her injured arm. However, the children can clean and do laundry."
And, even with her injured arm, he was sure there could still be work Ayame could do. She was a very hard-working person; always doing her best to stay busy and make herself useful. It was a bold request for him to make of the young woman that he'd just fed from, but there was little choice right now. He just hoped they'd be safe inside the castle.

Jasmine As soon as she felt the sharp nail on her skin she bit her lip for moment before she felt him taking her blood. It felt strange to her and a small blush managed to creep onto her cheeks. Why was she feeling like this when she was so close to a vampire did they have some sort of glamour or was it just the intimate feeling of giving her life blood to someone else in order to survive. "Your a vampire and there is no way you would be strong enough if a hunting party came out. Im not going to leave you here for someone to find you. You and your, um friends are going to come with me to the castle. They will be fine, you will need to hide for a bit until you heal. The children and their mother will be alright her arm will be looked at." When he asked why she wasn't afraid of him she didn't know the answer. "I don't know. You seem to need help right now and Im not going to let someone die." She knew about vampires and what they could do, she wasn't going to ignore him just because of who or what he was. "Alright lets get you up and going."

Byakuya Pride of the Nishi It must have been her first time feeding a vampire; though, the purity of her blood and scent already told him that. It was such an intimate act to give blood to a vampire. At least, it felt that way for a while. After a few times, the feeling of intimacy wore off. You simply grew use to it. It was similar for a vampire's first time feeding form a fresh source.
"You are right. If I am attacked now, I won't be able to defend myself or my pets." She was worried about him. It was odd to be the concern of a human that wasn't centered around fear or hate. Hearing her answer on why she wasn't afraid of him, he couldn't help but give an unamused laugh. "Were I another vampire, your naive view would have provided me with a full meal."
She attempted to get him too his feet, but he didn't have the strength. Shaking his head, Byakuya moved the fur from the three humans; the young boy's eyes were wide awake and looking at him in worry.
"I am fine, little one. Wake your mother and sister, and go with this woman to the castle. I will rest here for awhile and find my way to you when I am able. Tell no one of me. Understand?" The boy sat up and crawled over to him, holding out the protective charm he'd received from his father on his last birthday with him. "Thank you, Tetsuya. I will take care of this and return it when I see you again. Now, do as you were told."
As Tetsuya worked to rouse Ayame and Yoko from their sleep, Byakuya looked back at his unlikely heroine. He gave her a weak but grateful smile.
"My name is Byakuya Nishi. Please, just take care of these three. I give my word that I will sneak into the castle and find my way to them when I can move. A few hours at most. I don't have the energy to move just yet."

Jasmine Jasmine took her arm back and looked at the spot he had used to draw her blood from. There was barely any mark and she wondered just how he could heal her that easily. Sure she had heard about the healing ability of vampires, but she didnt realize that it also corresponded to when they fed off of another. Looking back to the vampire, now that it seemed like he was doing better she realized just how handsome he was. Was that how some of them managed to get the blood of their pets or prey? "I might be naïve as you say, but I am aware of the dangers of vampires. Seeing the situation, I trusted you wouldnt go to far. After all, a vampire that didnt care for human life wouldnt have risked his own for three humans would he?" She asked looking back to the little family he was clearly being protective of. Sure they were probably his source of food, but he still seemed to care for their well-being. As one of the children stirred again she glanced over and gave a small smile. She didnt want to alarm the child or make him feel unsafe. "Its alright, Tetsuya was it? Im Jasmine, Ill be bringing your mother, sister, and you back with me until your friend here is better. Is that alright with you?" She asked figuring that the child would feel a bit safer if he seemed to have a bit of choice in the matter. "Well, then I will just have to bring them to the castle and come back for you. I wont leave anyone alone no matter who they are."

Byakuya Pride of the Nishi Tetsuya looked at the woman as she spoke to him, turning a bit red. He wasn't used to any woman but his mother talking to him. But, he gave a shy smile and nodded to her question. He woke his mother and sister up, Yoko sitting up and rubbing one of her eyes groggily before looking at Byakuya. It was clear by her expression she had hoped the attack was just a nightmare. Byakuya reached over to pat her head as he usually did when she was upset, but he was still covered in blood and that made her flinch away.
He wasn't aware he actually had a hurt expression on his face from the flinch.
Byakuya looked back at Jasmine as she spoke to him again. He gave a sigh. She was a stubborn woman, though her intentions were pure. Shaking his head, Byakuya figured he could either wait for her to return or try to get up again. Both didn't sound all that favorable. But, he would try to get up if it meant lowering the risk of Jasmine encountering any of the vampire's coven members. Unless he was a nomad, they would be close by. Of course, there was also another threat he wanted her to avoid.
His parents had unrivaled parental senses.
If they didn't already know something was horribly wrong with their only son, they would be picking up on the sensation soon. It was unlikely they'd be able to find him within the time it took him to recover, but his mother was very keen and his father....His father had always managed to find him even when he wasn't hurt. Letting out a pained groan, Byakuya forced himself to sit up off the trunk of the tree.
"I have never met a woman with your level of stubbornness. Very well....I guess I have little choice but to come with you." Byakuya used the tree to stand, keeping himself on his feet with his hands firmly on the trunk until he felt it was safe to let go and stand on his own. "I'm not fond of how weak I feel."
Turning, Byakuya took a few steps before collapsing to his knees. Well, that was a failure. He looked over when Yoko sat next to him. It looked like she wasn't so scared of his wounds anymore.
"Puppy?" Byakuya blinked before letting out an amused but ashamed "tsk". Why hadn't he thought of that? Probably because he knew he didn't have much strength.
He, he took her suggestion to heart. Byakuya gathered the energy and suddenly morphed into a small white dog. He looked identical to a breed of Terrier, but his fur was white and his eyes were still golden. Some of the fur on his right side stuck out in a ruffled mess, as if the fluff he used to cover his pets had transformed with him. It would be easy to hide his eyes since all he needed was to keep them closed, but even his animal forms showed his injuries. He'd just have to play the part of the family dog that tried to protect the three humans. Where, however, would Jasmine hide him from the rest of the castle?
Byakuya gave an involuntary whine as Yoko picked him up, carrying him carefully. She was young, but intelligent for her age. The vampire didn't know if it was because she took after her mother or if being raised by him had an effect on her, but either way, he was grateful for it.

Jasmine Jasmine watched in amazement as the vampire she had given her blood to shifted his form to that of a small white dog. Yes she was a stubborn woman but that was expected of a princess in her country. Surrounded by greedy men, vampires, and dangers all around her home. "Well let's get going, I don't want to be out while the sun is up just because of his injuries." She looked at the family before starting to walk towards the palace. It took longer to get back then she had liked but she had to walk a bit slower for the injured mother and for the two children. "Your highness! Where have you been?!" Two guards asked rushing towards her before they noticed the three people behind her. "What happened?" Looking to the family Jasmine spoke. "They were attacked in the woods by what I don't know, they seem alright for the most part thanks to their protector." She said motioning to the dog in the girl's arms. "Their mother needs medical attention and I'm sure everyone would enjoy warm baths and a hot meal. Have the guest room set up for them, and a dark place for the dog please. He seems a bit sensitive to the light right now."

Byakuya Pride of the Nishi Byakuya had to resist the urge to scold the human princess. He was fine with the sun. Hadn't he said that already? But, he stayed quiet and instead let Yoko carry him as the three followed behind Jasmine. The vampire closed his eyes as they neared the castle, putting on the act of an injured dog. As he listened to Jasmine set up the arrangement, Byakuya gave a growl. The guards paid no attention to the sound, but he was making an effort to tell her to tone it down before she got them caught. Sensitive to the light? That was almost too obvious.
The guards obeyed Jasmine, though they were still unhappy with her for leaving like she had. But, they called for someone to set up a guest room for the little family and to make sure the dog was put in a dark spot but kept relatively near the family he belonged to. "His name is Master, not 'the dog'. You should ask first." "Yoko!" Ayame quickly ushered the two kids inside, giving an apologetic smile to the guards before catching the dangerous look in Byakuya's briefly opened eyes. "Please, forgive my daughter's rudeness. She is very proud of him." The three followed a servant of some kind to a guest room, Yoko setting Byakuya down under the bed so he'd have shade to rest in while another place was set up for him as Ayame was carted off to be treated for her injury. "You were very reckless, Yoko. You will not be punished this time, but hold your tongue from now on. Understood?" "Yes, Vythethi. I'm sorry."
