Faatina barely heard the whisper of a voice, turning her head to see a bright blue lion by her side. Pursing her lips, she shook her head. "I just don't understand - how could they be such a huge problem for so long and then... just... vanish into thin air?" Her eyes left the male, skirting the horizon once again. Nothing about this was making sense - especially since she heard no noise from the northern group, either. There was no noise anywhere, save for the crackle of electricity running through the air, preparing for the incoming storm.

OOC: 48, 52... This rolling's gone on long enough, I'm gonna call that CLOSE ENOUGH! (Also very sorry for diddling off, started a new job in December and my brain farted on me... And vidya games distracted)

Lost slightly in his own world, Ganesh began to wonder the same as Faatina. The buffalo had been so ever-present, where could they be? As he carefully stepped through a bush, though, he became very aware of two things - He was now face to face with a buffalo that looked as surprised as he was at the nearly nose-touching greeting, and the other group on the other side of the herd. He froze, eyes wide with surprise.

YOU HAVE FOUND THE BUFFALO!

The 29 other buffalo behind the one Ganesh had just met snorted, all staring to pace and watching the assembled animals. Up a tree was Mongolia, using his leopard heritage to his great advantage, trying to reach one of the strangers without spooking the buffalo.

A slip of a paw, a branch falling, and chaos broke out! Suddenly the buffalo were charging in different directions, angry snorts and a few scared bellows filling the jungle, competing with the sound of snapping vegetation and stomping hooves. And amid it all... The terrified strangers bolted, going in different directions.

It's time to bust out the other dice!

This is where those injury notations come in! If you said NO to injuries, roll one 8-sided die per character, and if you said YES to injuries, roll one 10-sided die per character! If you are using multiple lions with different injury indicators, post them INDIVIDUALLY - This is the only time you may make consecutive posts, but you MUST wait for another person to post before you can use an individual lion again after rolling!

(Example: Person 1 has lions A and B, and Person 2 has lion C. Person 1 may make two posts - One to roll for A, and one to roll for B. They must wait for Person 2 to post and roll for C before they can roll for A or B again)

Yes AND No to injuries
1 - You find one of the strangers, but you also find a buffalo. You both run off!
2 - You just miss getting hit by a buffalo! Yikes!
3 - You just miss hitting a buffalo. So close!
4 - A buffalo stops right in front of you and prepares to charge. You let out a mighty roar and scare it away! Wait, did it just head for the dens...?!
5 - You've just surprised a buffalo! Still shocked by your sudden appearance, you take the opportunity to jump on its back and, with some creative twisting, dispatch it with a good bite to the throat! Yay, dinner for all the effort!
6 - You start to charge at a buffalo, but IT starts charging YOU! Up a tree, quick!
7 - You spy one of the strangers, but as you dive to grab grab them to drag them to safety, a buffalo charges right past you, narrowly missing you. It didn't see you, but in having to stop suddenly, the stranger is gone!
8 - You charge a buffalo, who charges back... Neither one of you's backing down, as you roar and it bellows! Just as it seems about to hit you, you jump up and run along its back. Impressive! AND you missed getting injured!

Yes to injuries
9 - A buffalo's horn clips you. Ouch!
10 - You charge a buffalo, who charges back... Neither one of you is backing down, as you roar and it bellows! (Injury of your choosing)

Quite suddenly the two groups emerged on either side of the herd of buffalo. Kai's eyes widened in surprise as he looked at those assembled, both feline and prey beast. A snap of a branch and a falling bundle of fur set everything into motion and all hell broke loose. The strangers scattered, the buffalo began to jostle and run, and all Kai could do was try not to get trampled. He tried to step aside to let the buffalo run - there was no sense in trying to stop a stampede now - when he found himself snout-to-nose with one. It froze as he quickly moved, leaping up onto its back. It was a younger one, perhaps barely a year old, so the large lion had no trouble sinking a killing bite to its neck.

He fell off the beast as it slumped to the ground, lifeless.

(Since all of mine can be injured, I'll just roll it all in one post! In this order: Wimbi, Nye and Clea)

5 - You've just surprised a buffalo! Still shocked by your sudden appearance, you take the opportunity to jump on its back and, with some creative twisting, dispatch it with a good bite to the throat! Yay, dinner for all the effort!

And just like that, it was on! For a moment time seemed to slow, but in an instant everything changed. Wimbi was perhaps more shocked by the buffalo that she'd nearly stumbled upon, and it too seemed stunned. It's now or never. With chaos erupting around her the older lioness took the opportunity to jump onto the buffalo's back. The creature bellowed, contorting it's back in an effort to buck her off.

Wimbi was nothing if not creative, however. She flattened herself atop it's back, pulling herself forward bit by bit until her strong jaws found it's throat. With one quick, hard bite the creature fell. I'm going to enjoy eating you, you sneaky b*****d.

1 - You find one of the strangers, but you also find a buffalo. You both run off!

Nye was more concerned with the strangers that had taken off than the buffalo. If they didn't find them soon the herd might trample them! After seeing a few other lions jump into the frey, she snuck about the edges, and when faced with the open area, took off at a bolt after one of the strangers. She saw them enter an area full of brush, and other types of flora...only to lose them. "You can come out! We're here to help."

Around the same time she saw a head poke up from a bush she spotted a buffalo close by. Both felines turned to look at the snorting thing, until it bellowed and scared them both. "Run!" Nye shrieked, leading the way with the stranger hot on her tail.

9 - A buffalo's horn clips you. Ouch!

"Yeah, yeah, I've got you." Clea bumped against her mate, giving him a little grin of a smile before scanning the area. Something seemed off...and tense. She had a nagging feeling in the back of her mind that just wouldn't die down. It kept her sharp, but not sharp enough to react quickly enough when she discovered buffalo so close at paw.

"Pattin, move!" Clea roared. The buffalo were already making their charge, and one's horn ripped a gash along her back as she pushed her mate out of the way. If it was supposed to stop her then the creature was mistaken. The pain just made her pissed, and she wasn't going to stop until she killed the thing!

10 - You charge a buffalo, who charges back... Neither one of you is backing down, as you roar and it bellows! (Injury of your choosing)

Another buffalo was quickly approaching them. Buziba couldn't believe the chaos that had just erupted around them, but when he saw Wimbi land one of the beasts he grinned. Nice! Still his gaze widened as another one began charging towards the lioness and her prey.

Oh no you don't. Gaze narrowed Buziba charged forward himself and clashed with the buffalo with a might thud. Both butted together and Buziba felt a horn searing his side before he painfully kicked back away. Several ribs had to be bruised and there was definitely the smell of blood now in the air.

1 - You find one of the strangers, but you also find a buffalo. You both run off!

Avira nodded towards the lioness, "That's so true." As soon as the words left his maw the chaos broke out, "Welp, I suppose we found them." He smiled towards the lioness before bolting off himself. Talk about having the element of surprise. Frowning he found himself dashing through the madness.

Oh! There in the trees was one of those caught, "Come on. I'll help you down." Quickly Avira helped the other lion down before movement caught his attention, "I hope you have fast paws." Smiling with faint amusement the lion bolted off with the other at his side before their new buffalo friend could catch them.

1 - You find one of the strangers, but you also find a buffalo. You both run off!

Found the party. Manohara laughed as the buffalo began to charge all around. Talk about careful plans going into chaos! Quickly he looked for any buffalo that he could easily take down that may have been outside of the chaos...

But then he saw the one right before him.

Seeing those horns going straight for his own chest the lion had to react quickly. The tree! Talk about a brave act. Still it would be better to climb now and fight later instead of with a nice gash going down his side. Twisting away from the charge Manohara darted up the closest tree that he could find.

6 - You start to charge at a buffalo, but IT starts charging YOU! Up a tree, quick!

"Clea!" Pattin moved forward in concern as his mate fought with a buffalo. Yet, as she seemed more angry than harmed the lion slowed down his run. Best to prepare a salve for her quickly... Others were already getting injured as well. At the thought Pattin noticed another figure next to him, "Are you alright?" As the lion nodded he helped them to move out of a tangle of trees, "Bad timing to get caught." He teased before the other lion's frantic gaze made him glance backwards.

Oh no. It seemed that a buffalo had spotted them. With ease Pattin helped the other lion to move forward before bolting into a run himself.

5 - You've just surprised a buffalo! Still shocked by your sudden appearance, you take the opportunity to jump on its back and, with some creative twisting, dispatch it with a good bite to the throat! Yay, dinner for all the effort!

Oh yeah! Kaikane was excited to see that they had finally found the herd. There was so much chaos, however, that he didn't even know where to begin. Still as he spotted his mother fighting with a buffalo the lion took charge. His sudden appearance to the side confused the beast as took a step to the side.

"Cover me!" Darting forward he pushed off from the ground and latched onto the great beast. Perhaps being a guard finally was working out. Grinning Kaikane twisted in a crazy maneuver as he bit sharply into the buffalo's neck.

Just as she addressed the other lion, all hell seemed to break loose. It seemed Ganesh was finally successful! But success wasn't as pretty as she imagined it to be.

Her reaction lacking in speed, Faatina found herself staring at the actions of the others. Everything was happening so quickly - the darting of lions, the confusion at the sight of the strangers, and the bodies of buffalo dropping for those lucky enough to land a solid bite. Realizing she should join in on the action, Faatina darted through the bushes, immediately knocking heads with one of the strangers. "Ow," she chuffed out, about to apologize to the stranger before a buffalo stormed its way over to them. Faatina saw her panic mirrored in the eyes of the other, and they immediately darted off in differing directions. Hopefully that would confuse the buffalo and keep her safe. For now.

[Rolling, then I'll post. (Solomon will take the 1, Ram will take the 7) ]

|| Ram ||
That rumbling had been unmistakable and as both lions had exchanged glances, Ram had bounded off towards the sound. How they had managed to evade his senses for so long was beyond him, but whatever had spooked them now had his gratitude. Baring his teeth, the male leapt into the fray to do his part... or rather to achieve what he set out to do which would have been akin to a massacre if he had his way.

No sooner had he managed to track the buffalo, now rampaging through his forest, than he caught sight of one of the culprits that appeared to have stirred the masses. His eyes narrowed, and temporarily ignoring the buffalo he called out to them - he caught their attention initially, in fact, he almost had them, but as a buffalo came barreling towards him he had no choice other than to evade it.

...By the time he had spun round again, whoever had been there had gone.

"HEY!" he roared towards the now empty area.

|| Solomon ||
There it was, or they were, now causing the ground to shake beneath his paws and threatening to level every den that had been constructed since the tsunami. The white lion could do naught more than shake his head and sprinted towards the rumbling. What he hadn't anticipated was for him to stumble headlong in to...well... a stranger.

"He....llo," he uttered in surprise before both caught wind of an approaching set of preybeasts and exchanged glances of understanding.

"Annnnd good bye!" he declared as he bolted in the opposite direction to the mini stampede.

...He'd try another route.

(Rolling, then posting.. Sha'uri will take the 7, Rytir, the 9.)

As the group stopped dead, Rytir and Sha'uri both paused for a heartbeat of shock. Everything stilled and it was as if time itself had stopped as the three groups stared at each other. Then a branch snapped loudly and the world roared back to life. While chaos unfolded, two very different emotions crashed over the mates - Rytir felt savagely ready for battle, while Sha'uri felt nothing but dread. As Rytir bunched together to spring into the fracas, out on the corner of the battlefield, Sha'uri suddenly spotted one of the strangers they'd come out to rescue. With only enough forethought to yowl, "Rytir! Over there!", the white lioness was off.

"Sha'uri!" Rytir snarled in frustration at his mate's recklessness and dove after her.

As she raced over the ground, the cacophony fighting echoing around her, Sha'uri's gaze stayed trained on the bundle of unfamiliar fur in front of her. As such, she was oblivious to the buffalo charging her way - Rytir, however, was not. In a split second decision, he leapt forward and, putting his shoulder to his mate's, shoved as hard as he could. The bright lioness landed hard on her side and slid several tail-lengths before she lifted her head to see her beloved get caught by the beast who was aiming for her. The buffalo's horn collided with Rytir's haunch, ripping a wide, long gash and sending the blue lion spinning. Just before she raced to her mate's side, Sha'uri paused and glanced behind her - the stranger was gone, and her indecision also vanished; she raced to Rytir's side as the warrior regained his feet.

"I'm okay - he only grazed me." Rytir comforted. While he wasn't entirely lying, it was agonizing to put pressure on his back leg, and he knew that the wound would need to be looked at after the battle. As a pained screech reached his ears, he started toward the fray. "Keep looking for the outsiders, and try to stay out of harm's way. I need to help the others."

Sha'uri barely waited for Rytir to turn his back. "Like that's going to happen.", she snarled. At seeing her mate injured, a side of her she hadn't known existed had emerged. She was furious, and Hell bent on making sure these beasts paid for hurting her family.

As the buffalo began running, so too did Ganesh. He spared a glance at the trees, looking for Mongolia amid the branches. Worry raced through him for the leopon, not wanting anything to happen to him, and as he dashed behind a tree, he hoped no ill happened to any of his pridemates. A crashing sound reached his ears, even amid the din of panicking buffalo, and Ganesh looked up. His eyes grew wide as he jumped out of the way as a buffalo just missed hitting him. That could have been close!

User Image

Up in his tree, Mongolia felt a grip of panic. He had tried his best to do right by his pride, and he now felt he'd simply made things worse! Crouching and trying to reach for his distant leopard ancestry, he jumped for another tree. But he was still part lion, and misjudged the distance, front claws sinking into the bark while his lower half dangled. He could hear the thunder of hooves and snorts of anger, and he swore a horn or two just brushed past his tail. And then his grip faltered, dropping to the forest floor below. Blue eyes looked up as panic began to seize him, expecting the worst. His paws scrambled as he started to move, letting out a pained yelp as a horn clipped his rear. That was going to smart later!

(Whoops, rolled one extra. Forgot that Nye ran off with a stranger. xD;; )

9 - A buffalo's horn clips you. Ouch!
Feeling at the top of a decidedly strong adrenaline high, Wimbi charged head long into the herd. Since the majority of buffalo had begun to scatter she'd felt fairly confident. After all, she'd brought down one buffalo, so why not another?

As she moved she heard angry snorts, even a bellow or two before realizing those snorts were chasing her. A horn clipped her rump, causing her to yowl out and take a quick dive into some brush. It was a desperate move, but one that caused some confusion in her attacker. Good! She couldn't take another clip like that and keep her pride intact.

8 - You charge a buffalo, who charges back... Neither one of you's backing down, as you roar and it bellows! Just as it seems about to hit you, you jump up and run along its back. Impressive! AND you missed getting injured!

That same buffalo seemed content to torment her. Good! She wasn't going to let this one go without a fight. "I'm fine, just go!" Clea couldn't take her eyes off the buffalo in case it decided to charge.

As it turns out it did just that and she met it full force. Neither feline nor bovine was keen on backing down, each trying to out noise the other. For every roar out of her maw it returned a bellow to match. Clea's anger was rising two fold by the time it came close, but not so much that she lost focus. Before those horns gouged her she jumped, landing on it's back before running off to land behind it.

There was a point when any lion said enough was enough, and Ganesh had reached that point. He turned, tail lashing, and charged. One of the buffalo stopped and, looking him dead in the eye, let out a bellow and charged back. Coming to a halt, Ganesh let out a sound most undignified for any lion before turning and scrambling up a tree. The buffalo gave a snort below him, before turning and heading off again.

Ignoring the pain in his rear, Mongolia darted about. Looking this way and that, he soon found himself face-to-face with one of the strangers. But a snort from a buffalo made both look up, then dart away. He'd lost the stranger in the chaos!

[10 for Sha'uri, 5 for Rytir.]

Following no more than a tail-length behind Rytir, Sha'uri weaved and ducked through the tussle in pursuit of her mate. The large male was aware that Sha'uri trailed him - and she suspected as much - but there was hardly any time to turn around and reprimand her. Especially since he (reluctantly) had to admit to himself that there was no reason for her to not be involved, other than his own worry.

A loud braying announced an angry buffalo, and Sha'uri turned her attention to the noise to see the creature stampeding towards her. With nowhere to hide and no means to escape, the white lioness decided her only option was to meet the buffalo head on and hope she could dodge between its legs. She altered her course and charged forward with a roar, which caused a concerned Rytir to spin around - just in time to see the collision.

Bolting headlong toward the giant, Sha'uri's belly fur was brushing the ground as she prepared to make her escape under its belly. At the last second, the buffalo lowered its head, horns outstretched toward her, and she knew her plan was foiled. The oddly-imprinted lioness gasped, eyes wide, and reared back to try and stop, but it was too late. The buffalo caught and lifted her in its horns, tossing its head violently. Sha'uri was thrown several feet and landed painfully on her hip before rolling and sliding to a stop, bruised, battered, and a little bloody, but thankfully alive.

At the sight of his mate being tossed about like a leaf, Rytir let out a roar that shook his bones. Startled, the buffalo turned toward him, but too late. The blue male was on its back, teeth buried in the creature's throat as he dragged it down into the dirt. With his quarry dead, he dashed to his lover's side. Sha'uri was already on her feet, testing pressure and stretching. The way her hip had connected with the ground when she landed had dislocated her back leg, but there didn't seem to be any other actual damage.

After assuring her mate that she was fine, the two proceeded to join back in the fight with much more caution, and a distinct limp in the lioness' gait.

Up his tree, Ganesh scowled at the beasts. They were managing to become more bothersome than they had been before, and it was about time this ended. With as much dexterity as a lion could manage, he climbed down from the tree. No sooner had his paws touched the ground than he locked eyes with an older buffalo, a beast that had scars on its face and sides and holes in its ears. Curling his lip back, Ganesh began charging. The buffalo, too, began charging. Paws pounding the dirt, Ganesh let out a roar, while the buffalo, hooves thundering, let out a bellow. Neither was backing down, though, and Ganesh jumped at the beast, only to have pain explode in his shoulder as a horn hit him, sending him flying. The tree that embraced him wasn't a comfort, more pain exploding across his body as he hit the trunk before falling to the ground. A low groan escaped as he lay there, eyes squeezed shut against the pain.

The old buffalo didn't seem to be particularly ready to stop, and Mongolia found himself staring it down as it charged. When he looked at Ganesh, he mustered some courage and went charging toward it, himself. It was nowhere near a lion's roar, more like that of a leopard, but Mongolia still roared at the buffalo as it bellowed back. It was a game of chicken, and it was... It was getting close. The buffalo was getting REALLY close! Mongolia jumped, running down the animal's back. He spared a look back after landing, then hopped on his paws, grinning. Okay, that was cool!

1 - You find one of the strangers, but you also find a buffalo. You both run off!
Wimbi wasn't as youthful as she once was, and her body was feeling it. The scrape of that buffalo's horn against her flesh had clenched it. She avoided the main chunk of her the herd, choosing instead to stay near the tree line...when something tapped her on the head.

Looking up, she saw a paw and a frightened face. It was obvious the stranger had tried to get her attention as subtly as possible, which she couldn't blame them for. Unfortunately, Wimbi's earlier skirmish had drawn attention to her. A young bull, eager to prove himself and fueled by raging testosterone bellowed at the pair. For a moment she thought about charging, but the whimper above her changed her mind.

"Come on, let's go!" Wimbi shouted. She sprinted away from the buffalo, looking over her shoulder just briefly to see the stranger running after her. Hopefully their cloven hoofed friend wouldn't' follow!

7 - You spy one of the strangers, but as you dive to grab grab them to drag them to safety, a buffalo charges right past you, narrowly missing you. It didn't see you, but in having to stop suddenly, the stranger is gone!

Trying to keep up with her family and the buffalo was proving to be a challenge for Clea. Due to her wound she was slowing down considerably, more or less regulating herself as backup instead of infantry. Spotting movement she looked to the side and found one of the strangers, thank the Gods! "Hey, you! Get over here-" Clea stepped up, intent on dragging the fool to safety when one of the great beasts barreled right past her. She shrieked and stepped out of the way, narrowly missing another wound.

Much to her chagrin when the creature was gone, so was the stranger.
