The Search for Auslin
...One little boy can change the world...
It was a cold morning in the 9th month when the Inquisitor lead their soldiers through the valley and towards the Shyde village to complete the cull. The Gods had been cruel to their empire that summer, and the Inquisitor blamed the Shyde for their trickery and deceit. Many whispered that the Shyde had been responsible for all the back luck that their country had suffered.
Justice was dealt swiftly, and by the mid-afternoon hours the sounds of crackling fire were finally silenced. It was to be a reminder to the people that faith in the Inquistor was rewarded, but betrayal was punished through the harshest means. It was meant to dissuade others from standing up to their regime; for some time it had been working... Then the news began to spread... There was a name from the town who was missing from the dead. Auslin. A little boy, he was only eight. He was one of the gifted Shyde's. One of the few who the Inquisitor truly did fear.
The gift of the trickster God, Shyde, to slip through the world unknown, to disappear into the shadows. They are able to alter the minds of those they touch, pulling memories, ideas, and altering dreams. The Shyde had once been a crucial clan of the empire, but under the Inquisitor's rise they became feared.
Will you be part of those who wish to find Auslin to protect him, or will you be one of the many who see this as a chance to rid the world of the Shyde once and for all?
The Story: Begins in the Empire's capital city, Evensong.

History of Rooke
The theology of the Gods states that it was Shyde, the benevolent trickster, who brought the Gifts of the Gods down to the people. So that each individual would better serve themselves, and not be forced to pray to the fickle but powerful beings who ruled them from above. Thus the Shyde had once been the ruling family of the Rooke Empire, where their gift was considered the more precious of them all. After time, corruption began to wear away the trust and support that the Shyde had from the people, and so they were forced off of the throne in favour of the Inquisitor...
The Inquisitor changed every half a century or so, and they themselves were born without a Gift. They were to represented all the people of Rooke both Gifted and not; being chosen through a sacred ritual to rule until their death. For centuries they brought balance between all the people of Rooke, building cities so all could be welcome, and united the people together. During this time, the Shyde became more subdued, keeping to themselves. Distrust continued to breed until soon many of those, both Gifted and not, wished to see them expelled from Rooke once and for all.
