Toxic Masochism

PostPosted: Tue Jul 21, 2015 9:37 am

redface Hi, um I am kinda new to all this. In fact, I don't exactly have many people as resource pools. I am the only person even interested in my family so yeah.. My point is that if somebody can help me and teach me how to properly be a wiccan that would be great. I know that a lot of Wiccans have different viewpoints, but just teach me the need to knows and all that, if you want to.
Thank you biggrin

For a start, you can't really have someone teach you how to be Wiccan over the net. You really need to find some experienced coven members to guide you. I'm not Wiccan and thus I can't really help. I work primarily with Kemetic and Norse deities in a seasonal cycle.

Books are a good place to start. I like Silver Ravenwolf myself, as well as Scott Cunningham and Raymond Buckland. Silver Ravenwolf especially is geared more towards younger folk. Read a variety of books (with an open mind, of course) while you search for someone to help guide you. And, as long as you don't hurt anyone, there really are no wrong ways to practice. smile

I've heard Cunningham is good. I do have one of his books myself but I've never actually read it. Perhaps look into Starhawk as well, though do keep a very open mind when reading her stuff as it can be contradictory at times.

ok. so you still live with your parents then. how nosy are they, if i may ask? would putting paper covers on the books and keeping them in a clothes drawer help?

my mom is pretty nosy. i feel like if i told her what i plan to do on a spiritual level, she would probably disown me or something. if i put a cover on a book it would not matter and she searches my room often

Check the library. Sometimes they have books on Wicca, and you can read them there without checking them out.

She searches your room at the age of 17? That's a breach of privacy. I'm not sure what the law is like wherever you are (the USA I assume), but down here in Australia that's classified as an offence once you turn 18.

its pretty fuzzy here what you can and cannot do privacy wise here. i would look at info online for now then, and wait until you are under a different roof to get books. im sorry about your situation hon
