Nilima couldn't believe it had been a year. The Ela had been her home for a whole year. It had been a good year for her. She stared in awe at all the lions that had gathered. It was so easy to forget that the Ela was really four prides that came together at certain times. It was mind blowing.

She'd decided on a whim to enter the sky festival. Hopefully she'd get to know some of the others from the other prides. It was a good chance to mingle at least. Nilima was going to do her best!

Gogv had never entertained the possibility of taking part in any of the pride events. Pride spirit wasn't her thing. Enthusiasm wasn't her thing. She was that lioness who had been born a moody teenager and never really grown out of it. Only the tenderness she felt toward Vtla was an exception to her scowling moodiness. If it weren't for him, there was no way she would have agreed to take part in this event. Ever.

Reservations and brooding nature aside, Gogv was still careful and thorough as she stretched. It had been a long time since she fought with someone physically, but she supposed it couldn't be too different from hunting. Just with less blood and death, according to the rules.

Nilima didn't know the lioness who was her opponent for this round, but didn't let it phase her. She nodded her head respectfully anyhow. Manors never hurt anyone; especially when they all belong to the same pride in the end. Patiently she waited as the other stretched. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Nilima. Good luck!" She tried to make the first overture in the hopes of getting a response.

Despite being friendly, she needed to win. The light tan lioness crouched and circled slowly, waiting for an opportunity to present itself. She didn't wait long before she sprang with paws outstretched.

Gogv was not the sort to return unnecessary pleasantries, and so she neither nodded nor said anything beyond a rather unenthusiastic, "Let's do this."

The tan lioness's first leap was faster than Gogv had expected. She really wasn't used to fighting. Prey never sprang toward a hunter. It actually took her a moment to reconcile herself to the fact that this would probably be happening a lot, and so as soon as she found her footing she flung herself into an attack, doing her best to ignore the smarting pain where her right foreleg joined her body.

As she leapt she wondered what Vtla was doing in this moment. She knew he was fighting, too, and she hoped he wasn't watching her, since this was apparently going to be an exercise in humiliation for her.

Nilima was pleased by her initial attack as it seemed to take her opponent by surprise. However, it didn't last long as her opponent, she still didn't know her name, recovered and landed a well placed hit to her body. The wind was knocked briefly from her. She landed and turned as she panted to recover.

Several good breaths later and she was ready to go again! This time she dashed in low and swiped her paw at her opponent's feet.
