We're trying a little something new here! Everyone loves pridal lines, but as they're incredibly time-consuming to produce and therefore incredibly rare, we've come up with a more accessible alternative: pridal edits! Welcome to the trial run!
What are pridal edits?
Rather than an entirely new set of lines, pridal edits will be edits to the rogue template for a particular species, edits that will be unique to the pride/pack/group that wins them. They will work in much the same way that pridal lines do, in that the edited lines will be the lines for the winning group; once the pridal edits for a group are completed, that edited take on the rogue lines will be what all cubs/pups of that group will be born onto. Anyone breeding into that group will not be able to request a different rogue set.
The edits will be made to one set of lines. For instance, if the group that wins is lion-dominant, the winner will choose which set of rogue lion lines they want the edits to be made to. You can choose to use "old rogue" or "new rogue" for all three stages (cub, adol, adult), or choose to use old or new for cub and adol, but "alternate" at adult. Similarly, for non-lion species, you can choose to use the standard set all the way through, or use the alternate adult stage for that species. In cases where the original templates still exist, you may choose to use those. Juve lines cannot be substituted for adol stages (they may be recycled at some point down the line, but not for this).
For now, we are restricting pridal edits to regular, non-hybrid species: lions, wild dogs, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas.
What edits can I ask for?
First and foremost, pridal edits will need to follow the same guidelines as Minishop Edits. Examples of things you may ask for are:
- mane/tail edits
expression edits
unsheathed claws
simple items*
*Such as those worn by the Ela`wadiyi and Dawnwalkers. Some jewelry, a feather or flower or two, bone fragments, teeth, etc.- things that won't add a lot of time to the coloring process. No skulls (too complicated) or pelts (too much extra coloring). If you ask for something in your form that we won't be able to do as pridal edits, we will let you know.
Keep in mind, though: moderation! Please don't ask for all the things.
How do I qualify?
- If your group has multiple owners, you must all discuss and agree to entering. Once you have posted the form, your fellow owner(s) will have to quote it and state that they agree to the entry.
Your group must have a dominant species that makes up at least 60% of the population. The species that holds the majority will be the one receiving the pridal edits. Familiars do not count towards population, but all regular and hybrid species do (even if they're slaves). After your group has won, we will not monitor your percentage or remove your edits if the population fluctuates.
Due to the above, you must have an up-to-date member list.
Your group must have already been in existence and official before this thread was posted.
You must submit two complete RPs (same word/post requirements as breeding RPs) involving at least one owner that were started and finished in 2015, before this thread was posted. They must involve at least one group member and have taken place in the group's subforum. SRPs are acceptable.
For every two additional complete RPs you provide that meet the above criteria (with the exception that they do not have to involve one of the group's owners), you will receive an extra ticket.
Since people are often involved with multiple groups with different mixes of owners, there is no limit to how many entries you can be a part of.
If you win...
- Once you have won your pridal edits, you will not be subject to the lined-pride purge; since the edits are not reusable, there wouldn't be any point in taking them away!
Your group will still be subject to the general activity purges that occur occasionally to clean out inactive prides (absolutely no activity from an owner for a period of 8 or more months).
If your group is purged due to owner inactivity, it may be 're-banded' in the usual way, but will not immediately be given the right to its pridal edits. 6 months after the group is re-banded, you will have to submit a minimum of 4 complete RPs from within the group, at least 2 of which must involve an owner, and no more than 1 of which is an SRP.
Other
- While not directly related to this event, I'm sure you're wondering about the status of the lines that formerly belonged to the Jini-msemi and to the Peke Na. We do have plans for those, but are still working out details! We do know that the Jini-msemi lines will become lines for a new shop/'canon' pride, which will be contested off, possibly in a manner similar to the Aka'mleli event. This will involve a lot of work, so don't expect to see it anytime soon, but that's what's going on with those lines! As for the Peke Na/Mpinzani lines, there will most likely be a raffle open to both current packs and to concepts, but we're still ironing out details and that's subject to change.
