The last moon cycle has been hectic in not only the West, but in other parts of the Tianxia as well. The announcement and preparations for Duke Zhong Jilie and the new Duchess Mei Mu's wedding has taken priority. It has been well over a year since the last public wedding was held that all of the pride was able to attend. With enough advance and Mei Mu's insistence, a majority of the pride received invitations to the event. While many were invited, including the royalty from the other Houses and even the imperial family, the couple and their family are nervous to see who actually will attend their public bonding.

Just as the night began to fall on the day of an expected full moon, the West gathers beneath the trees and under the stars to see a new couple emerge in the West's royal family.

IC Information

○ The setting is upon one of the cliffs that overlook the shore of the minor lake within the West House. The view is spectacular, overlooking the lake from its position. The drop from it is nothing serious, only a few feet with mud below to cushion the small fall. Though it would still hurt a little. Forests surround the banquet area, the trees decorated for the occasion, though the sky can be seen through the canopy. The weather is fair, only partially cloudy, and quiet except for the chimes made of bone, metal and beads clatter in the gentle breeze.

○ There was a large-scale, major hunt that took place in the West over the two days prior to the actual wedding. This is to feed the pride and any other esteemed guests who may join while visiting.

○ Over the last three weeks, the West has been preparing for this event in various ways. Be it hanging cloth or strings from trees for decoration, preparing songs or aiding in fermenting fruits. There are a number of other ways they could have been helping, but this wedding is a group effort to make happen and to make beautiful.

○ There is a bit of scandal surrounding the couple. Zhong Jilie was betrothed to a lioness in the Pridelands, but the engagement was called off by the mother of the bride for (publicly) unknown reasons. It wasn't long after that Zhong Jilie and Mei Mu began to be seen together.

Almost everyone is invited to this event, despite it not being a socially larger wedding. Criminals would likely not be allowed to attend such an event, especially with the the attempt made Zhong Jilie's life before.

○ To pair with the above post, Zhong Jilie will have at least one guard stationed with him at all times during this ORP. Even if it is not mentioned all the time, it's there.

OOC Information

○ This ORP is open to anyone in the pride with the exception of Criminals.

○ All houses are allowed to participate in this ORP.

○ No rogues. This wedding is not politically important enough to warrant invitations being sent outside of the pride.

○ If you have no SoA (at all or in the pride), you may use an un-lined animal for this, but try to keep them small and out of sight. I would suggest a lizard or something similar.

○ There will be one prize for this ORP. It will be raffled off at the end of the ORP.

○ One post = one ticket for the raffle.

The official ceremony had been small, private, with only Han's family present for it. This was more of a show of influence in the West, a party to let others forget their troubles for an evening on behalf of everyone else. It was a time to let his love for Angara become the talk of the house, if even for an evening. Still, there would be sappy vows exchanged to satisfy those who revel in gossip and 'celebrity' news, as well as try to amend any damage he might have done to his family's reputation after his betrothal had been annulled.

The steely-blue lion glanced to his new wife who stood beside, as nervous looking as ever. He was used to being in the eyes of the West since he was young, but never so much as his brothers or his parents, but Angara...she was a rogue, still learning the traditions of the pride. Could she handle the pressure? Han thought she could, even if she needed him or anyone else to aid her. Reaching out, he gave her an affectionate nudge.

"Relax," He whispered, "The rest are just social formalities."

"I know, I know, I just can't help thinking about what if I do something wrong? Everyone will hate me..."

"Banish the thought, no one will hate you."

The Duchess smiled softly as she turned her head to look back towards those gathering. Hopefully she made a good impression. For now, the couple would sit, greet guest and wait for the head of the family to formally arrive. Now here was hoping there would be enough food and talk to last the evening as the sun was already beginning its descent beneath the horizon.

User Image A wedding! The first one since he had been born, for that matter. Yong Zhi was sure to inform the West house lion that had come with the invitation to the North house that he would be there. He was young and wanted to experience everything there was to see or do before age made his joints achy and his vision blurred. He had only just grown into his mane a few moons ago, but the way he carried himself and spoke would have made anyone do a double take. Normally young adults were still full of their adolescent vim and vigor, but Yong Zhi had never been outspoken or brash, nor terribly bothersome, even as a cub. He was always curious, but was very demure and reserved about it. Still, he was always seeking ways to learn more and today was one day he wouldn't have missed for the world.

He glanced around as he entered the area the celebration would be held in. So far he didn't recognize anyone, but that was to be expected. He hadn't traveled outside of the North yet, save for some training in the rogue lands. He was interested to see how the West lions lived and, if this was anything to go by, it was joyfully and festively.

He decided to keep to himself for the time being, content to watch his kin scurry around with last minute decorations. He could offer to help, but he felt as though he'd simply get in the way. Besides, he didn't really have an eye for art. He could appreciate a beautiful creation but could he make one himself? Unless you counted a perfect ceremonial soldier stance art, the answer was no.

It was then he noticed the two the party was being held for settle not far from where he was. He decided it would be in his best interests to introduce himself now before hoards of lions showed up. He quickly stood and moved towards them, bowing his head in respect as he drew close.

"Many warm wishes to you two on your happy day," he said, lifting his head as he spoke. "I bring congratulations from the North, as I doubt all will be able to attend."

Han's head dipped in return to the soldier's formal greeting. "We thank you for your kind blessing and that of the North." It was good to see members from the other houses here, even if they were few in number. Somehow he did not expect many to attend, but at the same time he hoped more would arrive just to help ease any worries his mother may have over his union to Angara.

"Please, mingle and enjoy the evening." The Duchess added in, her voice much softer than it usually was on any other occasion. She was nervous, that much was plain to see by the look on her face. Han performed his duties with such ease, grace even, but she was just a crafter-turned-duchess. A commoner, with no etiquette training beyond the normal formalities taught to everyone. Even on those, she was still learning. Still, she tried to not let her ears fall or her eyes. This was their day and it would be a happy one.

A quiet squeak came from her mouth from a sudden touch on her paw. Glancing down, Angara found that her husband had put one of his own paws atop of hers. A simple kindness that he likely hoped would calm her. A warm smile began to appear on her face as the duchess' racing heart began to calm.

"Bah, I would not miss my nephew's wedding for the world!" Came the joyful laughter of Kito, one of the Duke's of the North. His grin grew wide as he saw the new couple sitting so perfectly beside eachother. Oh how they reminded him of his own wedding to his beautiful wife. Kito was far less formal than the soldier before him, but he had that luxury and it was also expected of him at this point, regardless of the looks he received from the more 'noble' of members.

Of course Han was only his nephew through marriage, but family was extremely important to the Duke so he hardly cared about the lack of actual blood-relation.

Now that his mind was on the lavender beauty he had been so lucky to marry, he found himself glancing through the crowd. He was sure he heard her mention that she wanted to attend this reception, especially since it would be a chance for her to see her family again. Not as though she couldn't normally, it was just a long trek between the two houses. Not only that, but he had personally seen to it that Lingchen had been invited to this affair. She was a soldier now, but she was also his understudy and all of her efforts brought honor to him as well, making him proud of her quick progress. This would be a good social show for her and perhaps, playing her cards right, she could make more influential friends outside of the North. Allies were always good to have, as Kito had found out early on.

The traveling part of three were late as it were. It took some time with negotiations to even be able to leave the North House to see a wedding of the Duke and Duchess. The Lord and fellow Generals strode to the designated area based on the revelry heard from afar. Among them, they whispered concerns and excitement about the affair. The Lord had chosen to come making it a self-promise to attend all weddings of Dukes and Duchesses hence forth. It was out of respect and honor as he was the head of the house. The only reason he had the two generals with him rather than guards were because his father worked quickly. Dohzou's presence was a stipulation from his father that he must be guarded. It was when he was passing through the West's territory that they were greeted by Xuen, the recent general, to also tag along. Apparently, his father had sent word shortly before his departure from the North.

"This is gonna be so fun! I mean, think of all the food! Bet it tastes better than the tough stuff we get from the North." Dohzou crowed as he marched beside his brother, his dark mane smooth and full. He mewled at the thoughts of the spread. "Hey, maybe I can find a nice female for myself. Or you." He jabbed.

Lord Xun'lin shook his head as they made their way up the hill. "You're exasperating, brother."

The stripped feline that marched beside them remained stoic and silent, only giving side-eyes to the occasional comments given by the Duke-General. Like the brothers, his forefront was massive and strong, powerful and proud. However, his mane was thinner and styled, while he was strong, he was also quick. His mind sharp as ever. He came afar and was quickly welcomed by unknown reasons outside of the Lord himself. It took some convincing for the former-lord to accept the introduction of a stranger to a high rank. His job was to guide the Lord to the South, attend the wedding, and make sure he got past the West on the way back. It was simple. He did not anticipate the immature, undeveloped, free-willed, loud mouthed Duke to tag along. Not that he'd ever call him that aloud - let alone in front of the Lord.

The trio arrived shortly to catch sight of Kito, another brother of the North, and glimpses of a familiar crimson individual. Immediately, the mood of their little group changed. Xuen and Dohzou nodded to one another before parting their ways, leaving the Lord to himself. It was a guard maneuver to quickly scout an area of threats of important individuals: assess and observe, protect and guide. Xun, on the other hand, smiled softly shaking his head. Some times, their training never leaves them. This was the South, this was a happy time. No one was in real danger, but he commended them on their vigilance.

Striding to the pair and to Kito, the Lord smiled. "Forgive my tardiness, negotiations at home took longer than I had intended. A joyous day for the pair of you and what a happy pair I see." They appeared happy, that was all that one could ask for. It was the little gestures that made their coupling believable. Enough so that even he was a bit jealous of the Duke to find someone such as this. The thought of Lahn made his heart sink slowly, shaking the memory off because this was not the time nor the place for such thinking. "Two of my generals are present, one of them our brother, Duke Dohzou."

Quote:
OOC: Xuen, Dohzou, and Lord Xun are present at the wedding. Quote me if you wish to talk to any one of them.
Xuen: Tiger stripped lion, General stationed at the West.
Dohzou: Duke of the North, General stationed at the North. (ignore that his cert says central.)
Lord Xun: Lord of the North. Rumor has it he's single.... actually, they all are.

The Lord of the North.

That was someone that Han had not been expecting to see at their wedding. They were hardly important, not such as his parents or grandparents, but they were apparently enough to warrant such a visit, and from his brother as well. Dipping his head, Han attempted to keep his face straight and his voice from cracking out of excitement and from the pain on his back that still radiated from his attack so many moons ago. "You honor us, Lord Xun'lin, Duke Dohzou. You are a blessing to see as well, Xuen. The West is pleased to have you among us. If there is any way we may make your stay a more comfortable one, please let us know."

Raising his head, the smile broke through as he turned to look to Angara. "May I introduce you to my wife, Mei Mu."

Angara looked over the group of males curiously. She didn't know their faces, but that wasn't surprising at all given how many nobles there were. Hopefully one day she would be able to greet them as formally as Han did. Bowing her head to the lords from the North, she kept her tongue for the moment. That was polite right? There were so many formalities that it was almost dizzying to even think about them. Against her better judgement though, she replied after Han finished speaking.

"You kind words are a blessing to the both of us and the West." That was right, right? Flowery words to explain their gratitude to him somehow further than a 'thanks for coming' would have.

Elysia, being a messenger, had spent much time and effort doing her part for this wedding reception. It felt like quite an honor to be entrusted with such invitations, since she herself was from the neighboring pride rather than Tianxia. Knowing the chaos that had ensued in Mwezi'johari made the lioness deeply value the stability and serenity of her new pride. This joyous event was yet another example of what made Tianxia her chosen home.

This was the first time she'd had to look around and explore beyond her duties that had brought her to West House. She found the reception location absolutely enchanting. She stood at an edge of the cliff, gazing out over the small lake, mesmerized by the ripplicing reflection of the moon. It was so beautiful!

Ikira paced sedately among the guests of the reception, eyes taking it all in. It was quite a glittering and joyful collection, including some very distinguished and powerful individuals. For this reason, she was attempting to employ what she was being instructed in as a guard. She hadn't been here very long now, and she felt obligated to remain alert and watchful, even at this happy occasion.

However, she didn't let her vigilance keep her from enjoying herself either. A warm smile was on her muzzle as she admired the beauty of the venue and guests. Lovely streamers were hanging from the trees, rustling in the soft breeze, while soft singing and music wafted on the same breeze. There was so much to appreciate here! She would have to find out if she would be allowed to return here when she was given leave for free time.

Yong Zhi bobbed his head in farewell as the duke and duchess spoke to him and, as he turned to go, was quite surprised to see not only a duke of the North behind him, but the Lord himself. He almost froze to the spot in surprise - he hadn't expected them to come! It seemed like the Duke was related to the newlyweds, but the Lord?! - but quickly got his paws to move. He bowed deeply as they passed him and he made a quick but orderly exit, moving to mingle with the other lions that were showing up.

Phew...that had been close. Yong Zhi was always careful to be proper and composed at all times, but seeing those familiar faces had certainly thrown him for a loop. He wasn't very fond of surprises, after all.

Shaking out his mane, the red male returned to his spot under a tree, his tail curling around his paws as he sat. He could get a good view of the goings on from here without being in the way.

The Duke and General bowed, while the Lord smiled with his own thanks to the couple. "You humble us, we are but guests to your joyous day. Plus, Xuen here has has always been here in the West. You mustn't go out of your way to do that, today is your day. Enjoy it, revel!" Xun chuckled, smiling toward the female before him.

"You are a beauty to behold, miss. He is a lucky one." Duke Dohzou spoke with a smirk of his own.

"Your wedding is a blessing, Mei Mu. It brings the pride new life and happiness. Thank you." The Lord finished. To be honest, he being here was to escape the North for a bit, to get away from being a Lord for a bit. However, everyone knew him as such and it was difficult to do so. It was only around Dohzou that he was able to do that and that made him happy, comfortable, relaxed. Until Xuen greeted them. The Lord noted that his brother eyeing something in the crowd before ducking out, his eyes narrowing on his brother's rump disappearing into the masses. Ditched. Xuen has already moved off to watch everything with an objective eye. Abandoned. "Excuse me, I shall try to be a regular guest and mingle. Wish me luck!" The grey-white lion chuckled as he ventured into the crowd with cautious and hesitant steps. He was sure to be stopped and greeted.

Things were so much easier before.

Dohzou strolled up to the female that had caught his eye from afar. She seemed to be off on her own thus wasn't able to take his eyes from her beauty. There was no one eyes to put his eyes on. The northern lion moved through the crowd with some swagger as he moved toward her with a wide smile. "Now, what is someone as lovely as yourself out here by yourself?" The young lion looked up to where her gaze was, toward the tree were ribbons hung, snagged by the branches. There was something creepy about them, but there was some beauty to them, too. The West decorated the wedding with fitting decor that would make most females want something similar. Hopefully, the North can pull something like this off considering how rigid and structured it was. Delicate and fancy wasn't exactly the words that came to mind when he thought of there.

Ikira was not the vain sort of girl whose head was easily turned, thankfully. She did come to full alert when she heard his voice, turning sharply to see who spoke to her. Needless to say, she recognized the Duke, as he was the General over the troops of the North. Granted, she was a lowly guard, but she definitely knew who he was. She gave him a dry twist of a smile and lowered her head in a respectful bow.

"I am honored to be noticed, General," she said, her muzzle still touched by the amused smirk, "but truly such compliments are unnecessary. I am merely a polished rock among gems." She gestured with a paw to the others gathered, her smile becoming one of genuine admiration for the beauty assembled. "I have no illusions about myself in such august company."

She sat, leaving her tail uncurled behind her. Always be prepared, she thought to herself, especially with so many gathered here together. She wasn't wary of everyone, merely protective of them. It was in her nature to be so. Much of her adventurous spirit had subsided, matured into a sense of duty and dedication. She was quite happy here, finding a place to devote herself to. "It is beautiful here in the West," she commented conversationally, still ignoring what might have been viewed as romantic suggestion by the General. "Have you been here often?" Her expression was innocent, though her eyes twinkled with amusement and mischief.

Oh ho, it would seem like the girl who knew I was. I am pretty noticeable being a Duke. Could play the title cards, but lets see if I can get this going with my terms... Dohzou smiled as genuinely as possible when he was... well, flirting. Or at least attempting to! She was definitely trained to have manners and disciplined to boot. He cocked a brow at the female at the comment. "A smooth stone among gems would certainly stand out. If you are different, you are noticeable. If you are noticeable, then you are the gem compared to those that blend in. To me, they are the polished rocks and you the shining gem."

He was a General of the North territories. While he may not always take his job seriously, he was a formidable opponent once he has gotten going. Which is to say, endanger any of those he is to protect or cares about would be an instant trigger. However, his brother - the Lord - hasn't positioned any guards under his command... so perhaps the title was just a title. Thoughts aside, it was distracting from the now. "I would certainly agree with you, I have only been here a handful of times. However, always business and never personal to enjoy the view. I assure you, if I had, I would agree with you more sincerely." The Duke grinned at her twinkling eyes.

Well then. He certainly was pouring on the charm. She blinked a little at him, ears swiveling as she tried to decide how best to respond. Or whether to respond at all, for that matter. How exactly was a girl from outside the pride originally, now a guard in North House, respond to a duke of her own house showering her with compliments? She was silent for several moments, considering him thoughtfully. "No matter how much a polished stone might stand out among gems, when the time comes it is the stone that is tossed away, so that the gems might shine brighter." She didn't really care to be toyed with, truthfully. If he wasn't serious with his flattery, she would rather not take it to heart.

She bowed her head once more. "I do appreciate your kind words, but... though I am new to the pride, I can't imagine one such as I has any place among those of your rank, sir." She met his eyes again, all seriousness. "It can break a spirit to be told such things on a whim." She was trying to be tactful and honestly had no real hope that he was indeed serious. He just didn't strike her as the sort to randomly have fallen in love with a stranger he didn't know the name of, not really anyway. Just as her admiration of the beauty of this area did not mean she was intending on dedicating herself to it instead of her own North House.

i hope this makes sense @n@

Well, he was certainly uncertain. The female became silent, her eyes seemed searching. Not externally, but internally, she was thinking, calculating. The words that came out next was to be expected. His flattery wasn't going to get him anywhere with this one. Oh well, she must have realized he wasn't serious about her. It wasn't like he could fall in love at first sight with someone. Could anyone? Doubtful. Still, she was a beautiful female and she deserved to feel she is. "You are right, you are a polished stone. Stones are what we build upon, gems do nothing but look nice. They have no use other than that. They are a symbol of exuberance. The stones? They have a purpose, they are strong, they can be many or just one. They can shelter and destroy. Don't take my words as flirtations, miss, but compliments to you as you are. Don't diminish yourself, you are better than that." Dohzou shook his head, returning her gaze with genuine sympathy. She was a beauty, many females were, he would say males were too if they were not cocky but heads. He had only hoped that she realized it and embraced it. "Look where we are, m'dear, we are at a wedding. After our introductions, we are free of our titles for the time being. I may still be a Duke, but I am not a general at this very moment. Relax and enjoy yourself. Take in the scenery before the night is over. And mill over your thoughts, if you wish, just don't forget, as a northern lioness, you are stone in our House, a stone in a landslide."

The Duke ducked his head briefly. "Excuse me, I am rather starved." He excused as he made his way back to the group.

She listened attentively, watching his face and eyes as she weighed his words. When he finished, she gave him a much more genuine and relaxed smile. Now this was a compliment she could feel at ease with. She really enjoyed the imagery too. Yes, she was a stone, though not as polished as she might wish to be. Still, that was something she could work on, both in her mannerisms and her capabilities in her job. She gave him a deeper bow at his admonishment to not sell herself short. "Thank you for your wisdom and kindness," she replied with no hint of the wry amusement of before, leaving her tone laden with sincerity. "I will strive to do my best for pride and House."

She watched him leave with mild regret. It would have been interesting, she thought, to continue talking with him. He was challenging in intriguing ways, and not at all unpleasant to be around. Ah well, she was, after all, a stone only. Some quiet, girlish corner of her might long for romance, but as time passed, her practical side became more inured to the idea of love not being something for her. One could dream of that moment of meeting one's soulmate, but such things generally didn't happen, especially to those of a more military mindset. She suppressed a sigh, cast a look to the starry sky with a wistful smile, then turned to resume pacing among the beautiful people attending the wedding.
