The Aegnor'hini Lands

The pride lands are located west of the lands the once held the Mwana-a'lela and south of the Kusini lands.

Close to the former Mwana lands, part of the jungle that makes up most of their territory spills over into the Aegnor lands. To the north and northwest, the area is mostly desert and barren wastelands. The rest of the pridal lands is mostly made up of savannah.

The volcano is a sacred location for the Aegnor. Though dormant and hollow, it represents a pathway into hell, especially with the maze-like passages that honeycomb the inside, carved out by lava in earlier times.




In the center of the maze inside the volcano is a large chamber with a pool of lava far below. Crossing the chamber is a series of narrow bridges that a lion must cross during the Name Quest ritual.



Dens of the pride are located close to the base of the volcano, with the majority of them several yards away. The dens are formed by tumbles of rocks from an earlier time. The huge piles of rocks are riddled with small caves and hollows - perfect for dens.

For the most part, the closer a den is to the volcano itself, the more important the family or lion living there. Nats' dens, therefore, are on the far side of the largest rock-pile - where the leaders have their own area of dens which is closer to the volcano. The dens of the priests are very nearly a part of the volcano itself and are in the outskirts of the jungle.



Also, close to the priests' dens is a series of hot springs formed by a recent earthquake. The spring closest to the top is the hottest of these and is used for various rituals and for priests and pride leaders to commune with the gods. As the springs flow down a set of terraces, they get progressively cooler until the last one, on the floor of the jungle. This pool is still warmer than the river water, but only by a little.

The dwarves live in the low mountains that branch off the volcano, making the caves there home. The Aegnor consider them odd, but they are strong and understand the value of strength and unity. Best to make friends rather than enemies of the stout lions.

Coileani Draiochta
A very tentative alliance with a pride further afield, this alliance came about solely because one of Hakuna'jina's sons found a mate there, yet returned home when the call went out. It remains to be seen what will come of the alliance between the mystics and the demons.

Damu-vizuka
Born from the remnants of the Mwana-a'lela, the bloody ghosts are steadfast allies, despite their air of mystery and strangeness. Where the Mwana and Aikanaro were casual allies, the vizuka will come to the Aegnor's aid when called, and vice versa. They have open border agreements, and the Aegnor is one of the few prides safe from cubnapping. They are an option to send pale cubs to, if their coloring suits the vizuka.
