Silently you await in the shadows as flareon dashes into the marketplace, waving a wad of cash in his hand. "I've got it sir! I have the money!" That was the reason you were hiding here, because you knew how loud he would be. You knew he was still trying to get used to this new form, but still you didn't wish to be seen in public with a male who thought he was three. Of course you had had a hard time explaining why you wouldn't go in with him, and obviously you lies to him, but how would you ever be able to go outside with him without being embarrassed, so of course this had been the only way. It wasn't that you were a shy kid, you just wanted to prevent the memories of childhood education from returning into your mind. Nobody had liked the strange quiet girl, especially how she was the only single parented child in the whole school. But how was it to be your fault your father had ran off with some other lady? You were only five.
Sighing you sit down on a bin, watching as the whole store erupted into chaos. You couldn't help but smile as Flareon jumped into a trolley and whizzed down the window aisle before stopping at the bakery aisle. You could only see his head now, but you could tell he had found what he had been looking for: Red Velvet Cake Mix by reddingtons. He had always loved the stuff made into pokemon macarons and you knew he was more than excited to be able to bake them in a cake.
As he whizzed round the store you couldn't help but cringe. Did this mean that your battling days were over? You couldn't help but wonder each night, and now that you were actually alone, it hurt to know that maybe it was. You blamed Flareon, tears slowly becoming fear, fear becoming sadness. How had it come to this? How could you have been so stupid. Whilst your beloved Flareon had become human, you were stuck having to look after him, teaching him the ways of the human world. Your journey was coming to a close, yet there was one thing you wanted to do first.
"Flareon, I'm going to Hugh's. I'll meet you at home after!" you call out to him, peering your head around the supermarket door. Without taking a second to think, you spin on your heel and race away from the market, leaving a saddened Flareon to watch after you. "Sir, I'm gonna need to take a home delivery," he sighed half heartedly as the shopkeeper looked up. "I hope you can take a big order."

You veer around the park perimeter, slowly walking into your old hometown. Memories flooding past your eyes as you glance at the Proffesor's lab, then at Cicelia's house, your mother's and then finally Hugh's. You didn't know exactly what you were doing here, but you knew his parents had gone to Kalos for a vacation, so the humiliation levels that had occurred on nearly every other visit here couldn't happen. Silently standing in the porch, you look at the door lightly, before reaching out to knock. However, before your hand can even touch the door it swings open, revealing a rather happy Hugh.
"_________, I-I was just coming to look for you... Erm, come in, come in," he starts laughing nervously, pulling you inside. "I think I know why Flareon became human." Suddenly you burst into tears. Quietly Hugh hugs you, allowing you to weep on his chest. "I can't be a trainer any more Hugh, and it scares me! I don't even know how to live a normal life any more! Without me, Flareon just messes up everything, but I had to leave him at the market, I just had to see you! I don't know what I even want any more, I can't even decide what to do with him!" You could feel Hugh's hot breath trickling down your neck, and you wanted more than ever to kiss him, but you knew you couldn't, you just couldn't muster up the strength to.
A finger wiped away your tears, as a hand rested on your chin, pulling up your face to face Hugh. "No more tears ________. I hate it when you cry... You just don't seem to suit tears." You felt a pair of soft lips connect with yours as your eyes close. You needn't have worried any longer, this was how you wanted your journey to end. With a kiss from him.
A blonde haired man stepped away from the window, a quake in his movements, tears in his eyes. He was too late, it was too late. She didn't love him. She didn't want him. She didn't need him. It was clear that he had wished for too much, his wish slowly becoming more of a curse. She didn't even know what to do with him. Hugh was who she loved, not him.
That old red rope that clung to his heart, suddenly tightened, pulling him further and further into the dark abyss of loneliness. If she didn't love him, he would have to do something about it. He would have to make her love him. He had to make her see why he wanted her, that he loved her, that she had been the only wish his heart could ever make. She was the reason that gave life meaning, she was the reason he wanted to exist, she was the one thing that stopped him in his tracks, attracted him- made him feel loved. He had to win her over.
Yet still he couldn't figure out how and as Hugh and _________ pulled apart from the kiss, he saw the gleam in her eyes, and instinctively knew, she couldn't be won. He had lost the one thing he cared about.
Stumbling backwards he heard the door open, heard her silky voice calling out in shock and worry, heard Hugh's embarrassed apologies, feet pounding the earth behind him, but he didn't care, she didn't love him. His life had lost meaning, the voices repeating again and again in his head. 'Your weak, puny and a runt.' 'You don't deserve a girl like her.' 'Who do you think you are falling for another man's girl?' The tears kept falling, darkness crowding in on him. This time there was no escape.
His life was losing meaning, the old memory of feeling hopeless and weak crowding his mind, echoing with unpitiful terrifying notes.
He could see it all so clearly now, moonlight against the pale sky, a dark gurgling sea beneath him, ready to close in on his pathetic life, his arceus couldn't give a damn, his why me? the laughs repeating in his mind.
This wasn't how he had visualized his end. He had seen milky eyes and a kiss as he lay in dying moments of protecting her. Lost in the moonlight and soft breezes whilst pale orchid petals floated past them. But now, this was the end. The end of his life. No longer could he take it... No longer did he need life... No meaning, no love, no hope, he flung himself into the despairing waters, trying to fight the currents.
