Original blog-style thread. Why? Just Because.
EDIT: Okay, now that I actually have time to be more detailed about it...I decided to open this up to provide 2 functions: give start-up advice to newbies, and give new perspectives to vets. I enjoy getting feedback on particular topics, whether you agree or disagree. If you want to talk more about a topic, or if you'd like to give me a topic to talk about, shoot me a PM (it'll be the easiest way to get in touch with me) or Skype (only on in the evenings).
