'Effective Evangelism'
Greetings in the beloved name of Jesus!
Think back. How and when did you first realize that you were lost and needed a savior?
Was it something you read in a newspaper, saw on a movie screen, heard on the radio, or was it something more personal?
The reason I ask is because a lot of people have myriad thoughts on how best to reach people for Jesus. A few faithful servants of the Lord are convinced that some form of advertising is needed. I agree that every body of believers needs to let folks know that we are around and are committed to sharing our faith with others.
King Solomon tells us that we need to evangelize in Proverbs 11:30, 'The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.'
No doubt about it, if we're saved and we know it we need to stand right up and show it. Believers are called by God to be His hands, feet, and voice in attracting others to a personal relationship with Him.
Isaiah also urges believers to put voice and feet to their faith and learn how God appreciates the personal approuch to evangelism.
Isaiah 52:7, ' How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!'
We can, and should, tell others about Jesus by e-mail, facebook, twitter, in newspapers, with direct mail, through signs, pamphlets and tracts.
Special events can be held to draw crowds. Anything we can do, that is in proper form and in good taste, are welcome methods of telling folks who we are and where we assemble to worship. be it here in these guilds -'The well', or the G.P.S Guild, or in our local churches where we go to worship with others in the outside world.
What each of us must do, however, is to 'follow up and follow through' by phoning, e-mail, p.m.'s, comments, and visiting personally. We need to phone ahead so that we don't just show up with out notice, but we need to visit. We need to go two by two so that we avoid possible problems, but we need to take the personal approuch to inviting, encouraging, and most of all
'listening' to people talk about themselves and their needs.
Paul wrote the church at Ephesus and told them that God calls each of us to serve in some capacity.
Ephesians 4:11 reads thus: 'And he gave some apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;'
The Lord may have called you to none of these, but He has called you to love and share.
God has called everyone of us to simply talk to someone each day about how 'Jesus loves' and that 'Jesus saves.'
May God touch each of us with a spirit of confidence and enable us to faithfully reach those who are in need of hope and peace. May you and I obey His call.
Yours in service to Christ jesus,
Aaron - T.S.K.
