Welcome, thirsty travellers to the Tales of Series Drinking Game Thread!
Here at the Drunken Dwarf Tavern, we have a little game that we like to play. This game is simply known as The Tales of Series Drinking Game!
Long lasting JRPGs have had a strong history of reusing themes and elements throughout their games and Tales is no exception. With fourteen mothership titles and spin-off games spanning several gaming consoles, it's one of the longest-standing JRPG series out there today. Here we drink to the many, many tropes, elements, and cliches that we come to love about Tales.
For this thread, we'll be making a drinking list so long and diverse, that it'll destroy all of your brain cells. ((The next post will be a list of all the things to drink to)) Please feel free to put down your suggestions in your posts and feel free to come back for more!
A few rules about the thread: ((May be subject to change))
1. You may post as many drinking rules/suggestions as you can in your posts.
2. Suggestions that have already been put up in the list will be ignored. Please don't spam them in your posts.
3. Some of the drinking rules can be put into categories depending on which game they come from. For that, please put the name of the Tales game in brackets after the suggestion ie: ((from Symphonia))
4. You can choose not to drink to the suggestions, no one will pressure you to do so. However, if you do decide to drink, please drink responsibly and bring a bucket for your vomit.
5. You are allowed to talk and chat with others on the thread as long as it is friendly and you order something from the menu. ((I don't know if I'll put up a Menu post, but if anyone has suggestions for food and drink options, feel free to post them)).
6. Drunken brawl fights will be taken outside.

The Universal Drinking List
(For the themes that span over several Tales titles)
1. "It's nothing."
2. "Demon Fang!"
3. Skit innuendo
4. Heroic determination
5. Sympathetic antagonist moments
6. Main male protagonist wears anything red or has red eyes or hair (for those without this characteristic, two drinks)
7. Main female protagonist has something special about her that separates her from everybody else
8. For as many playable characters in a game that are young kids
9. For every character in a game who's not a human or human-like (ie: Corrine, Repede, Mieu, Teepo/Tipo, etc)
10. For every skit that makes a Gel/Gumi reference
11. The cute kid in the group does something funny, adorable or adorkable (a fusion of adorable and dork)
12. "Tiger Blade!"
13. References to other Tales games (this also includes costumes of other characters)
14. References to other game properties owned by Namco
15. Spa/Hot Springs/Beach scene within the game
16. Five drinks for the Tales Games that weren't released outside of Japan (They need their recognition too)
17. A skit that involves the female character's boobs or anything boob-related
18. All of the Tales' character cameos
19. Every ninja character in a Tales game
20. A drink for every voice actor and actress you can recognize (This includes seiyuu and VAs)
21. A drink for every skit that talks about food or other characters' cooking
22. "First Aid!"
23. Sorcerer's Ring
24. Mieu or Abyss' Tokunaga make an appearance
25. Someone named Tokunaga is introduced
26. Nam Cobanda is found
27. The Dark Wings show up
28. When your flimsy mage/healer insists on engaging in melee combat
29. Really ugly-looking wanted posters
30. Summon spirits, their names and powers being recycled throughout the games (two drinks if their names change)
31. The main group is on the run from the law
32. When the royalty/governing/religious class characters are being jerks (another drink if you find someone who doesn't fall in the jerk category)
33. Bad voice acting (1/4 if this is prominent with all the voice acting in the game)
34. For every character in the main group who is either with or used to be with the knights or the military

36. Travelling between two words
37. For all of the animated scenes in the game (this includes the opening scenes for the game)

6. Everything that carried over into Tales of Symphonia
7. "Kangaroo"
8. Arche flirting
9. Cress/Cless makes a bad pun
10. Mint's polite honorifics
11. Dhaos' minions are exposed by their reflection in a mirror
12. Every time Klarth/Claus makes a summoning pact

3. Meredy speaking the Melnics language
4. Keele walking/running slowly
5. Meredy being adorable
6. For the fact that it was called Tales of Destiny 2 in NA because of f*cking He-Man! (5 drinks)
7. Meredy says: "You bet!"
8. Reid being lazy or a glutton
9. Farah jumping into situations head-first without thinking things through
10. Chat's fear of animals (more or less, her fear of Quickie)
11. Keele getting motion-sickness or sea-sickness

6. The Orensoren do the Dance of Victory (SUICIDE MODE: a drink for every time they say "Ors!" in the dance)
7. Whenever Norma gives someone in the party a nickname
8. Moses calling Norma "Bubbles"
The Tales of the Abyss Drinking List
1. Luke being an a*****e
2. Guy's gynophobia
3. Every time Mieu says "Mieu" or "Master"

1. Flashbacks and dreams about Asura's time
2. "It's just a joke!"
3. Luca getting picked on by other party members
4. Iria's jealousy towards Chitose

Evilweirdo 0 APH-Fem Canada-APH NOTE: I might add to the drinking list here and there whenever I can. However, I do enjoy people adding to the drinking list. There maybe a chance that I might make a SUICIDE DRINKING LIST! This list will get you plastered so hard, you'll forget everything! Do you mean a full drink every time "Kurea" is said?! That is suicide!
Hence why it'll be called the "SUICIDE DRINKING LIST" . . . Hey, Weirdo, isn't there a translation of the Tales games that weren't released outside of Japan? |

Vast and mighty? That might be a bit much...
Anyway, Nam Cobanda appears in Abyss and Vesperia. Groups called the Dark Wings show up in a bunch of games, actually, though it's not always obvious. According to the wiki, they've been in Destiny, Eternia, Symphonia (remember the imposters?), Rebirth, and Abyss (arguably the most notable ones, and were even involved with Nam Cobanda). They were also mentioned in a Vesperia skit. |
