Moving quickly, as if going somewhere in a hurry and with a purpose, CandiFloss had a bright smile on her face. She was enjoying the weather and had decided to go for a walk. Not that she really had anywhere in particular to go to. Honestly, with the weather delightful and not a bit of snow on the ground she wondered how anybody could feel anything except for happy, happy, and happy. She came upon the brightly bubbling stream and smiled, if possible, more widely. A drink of cold spring water would hit the spot spectacularly. The winter had not been kind to Flossy.... if possible she was more thin than ever. Her mate had been trying to force more and more food upon her but Flossy had never had enough attention to be sure to eat enough food. She typically flit from place to place oblivious of herself and her surroundings.

The winter was horrible. It was long, cold, and full of snow. And now? Now that the snow was gone? Mud. Mother effing mud. Dotty stomped in the nasty mess of a ground angrily. Spitefully. It was as if every year this happened. It couldn't possibly just stay nice all the time. First, the cold and the lack of leaves and berries. Then, the snow, wind, ice, and freezing temperatures. And then after that? Oh, after that! She cussed to herself as she stomped through the disgusting slop on the ground, angry at the weather, angry at the spirits, angry at the sun! Why in the spirit's name was the sun so damned bright?! She shook her head, causing her bangs to fall into her eyes and shield her from the wretched daylight. The mud rose between her cloven hooves with every stomping step, and it was only building up. The disgusting mixture of dirt, water, and goodness only knows what else, was causing her hooves to push apart more and more, and she grumbled as she shook them in an attempt to free herself of the discomfort. Stupid mud. Stupid spring. Stupid cloven hooves!

Oh! Another soquili was not far away at all. Prancing in place for a moment she took off on a quick sprint and came to a hard stop in front of the unicorn-looking mare. She was a unicorn wasn't she? Oh probably! probably! Oh what a happy day, happy happy day. She had met someone. She was meeting someone, who was this person? She was meeting a person and today was the happiest of days. Happy day. Happy day. Flossy didn't realize she was so close and had to come to a hard stop. Because of the spring mud she sprayed a bit on the mare's leg and beamed happily, "oh! Oh sorry!"

Dotty's temper nearly snapped as she stared at the mare in disbelief. Surely she couldn't be even remotely serious. The unicorn grumbled lowly as she shook off as much as the spatter as she could. "Sorry? You're... Sorry?" She shook her head. "OH, well that just makes eeeeeverything all right! Why? Because you're sorry." Behind her sarcasm, any normal being could figure out how the mare felt about the current situation, and probably apologize again before quickly making their leave. But somehow, just somehow, she could tell this mare wasn't quite... Normal.

Flossy really was having a hard time holding in the urge to giggle at her. The unicorn mare seemed to be ridiculously aggravated because of a little dirt mixed with water. While she was not normally one to giggle in the face of someone that's upset, it was all that she could do to keep that laughter in. Oh wait, maybe the mare really did need the reason to forgive the word 'sorry' explained to her. "Okay, well when you say sorry to someone it means that the person that said it didn't mean to do it.... and when an accident happens then it's not okay to hold it against the person that did not mean to actually do something." There, now the unicorn had a tidy education on what happens during a conversation to make things go the way they're supposed to! She really was trying her hardest to make friends now.

Dotty stared at the mare once more. This was simply ridiculous! Was this tiny little thing so daft that she couldn't even recognize sarcasm? Dotty, herself, spoke mostly in this tone, and usually others followed it fairly well and either apologized or just left. She grumbled and slapped her tail up against her leg, trying not to lose her temper. The unicorn decided that the other mare must simply be ignorant, and that she probably shouldn't try to engage her too much. It would just cause more confusion and frustration, and quite possibly bloodshed. "I know what the word sorry means, you foolish mare!" On the inside she was seething, but she did not wish to cause the other mare any distress. The regular appeared as if she were a crier, and nothing would anger Dotty McFearsome more than some bumbling wretch bawling because she said something unkind.

Flossy had been raised by a very strong, kind mother and while she tended towards flights of foolishness and fancy, at the very center of it she had little to no tolerance for being made fun of. While she was beginning to feel like the mare was being unnecessarily unkind, Flossy figured she would give it just a bit longer. "Well, if you know what it means then I guess I didn't need to describe it to you quite so well...." Flossy pondered for a moment why exactly the mare was so upset... Why was she so upset? ...."Are you upset today?"

Her nostrils flared and her patience continuously wore more and more thin. "No, I suppose you did not." Dotty couldn't stifle her laugh at the mares question. Upset? Her? Never! Or at least, not without good reason, and it seemed there was always good reason. She scoffed a bit before looking the mare over again. "Not upset, simply flustered." She remembered the words her mother once told her. 'A lady doesn't get angry, a lady does not get upset, and a lady certainly does not talk back! She merely loses her bearings, gets flustered, and finds a valid argument.' Her eyes rolled back at the thought of her mother. What a dreadful old hag she had been. But Dotty supposed she had some good points.
