Temperance found herself lonely lately, and was in search of someone to talk to. Her journey had brought her across other Soquili, but she hadn't seen any one in a while. She always found herself searching for something, but unsure of what it was. Friendship? Love? A companion of some kind. All she knew was, her loneliness was becoming more than she could bear.
She had been walking for a while, and came across a lovely grotto of trees where clover and small flowers grew beneath them. It was a beautiful place to stop and relax a bit. She took a small mouthful of the clover, relishing in the sweet taste, and then tried a bite of daisies. The pollen clung to the roof of her mouth, so she stood there licking the top of her mouth, her tongue would flick out so it looked as if she was sticking her tongue in and out.

 Kamiki's Teepee Narci was settled into the bed of wildflowers, taking a nap in the warm spring sun. He was so happy that horrendous drought was over, and now that the fires and rains has subsided, the land was fresh and overflowing with new growth. He liked lounging in the sun, letting the lovely and comforting scent of the wildflowers waft around him.
Nearby, from the batch of clover Temperance was munching, a purple and blue bunny appeared, her big blue eyes peering up at the icy mare. She looked a bit annoyed and protective of something, frowning in a way that made her cheeks puff out.

Finally getting all the pollen off, she wanted some more clover and bent down to take another bite when the bunny popped it's head up. "OH!" she exclaimed, startled by the sudden appearance of the critter. "I'm sorry," she smiled, "I didn't see you there."

 The bunny looked at the mare up and down, critically. Her big saucer-like eyes narrowed and her bunny nose scrunched up in distaste. She crossed her fluffy paws in front of her body and gave a little snort. "Then you should be more careful," she said, turning away with an upflick of her puffy cotton tail.
Nearby, Echo's voice roused the sleeping Narci, who's hear appeared over the break in the wildflowers. Even in his "full" Soquili size, he was a diminutive stallion, standing even shorter than young stallion in his first season. But Narci never let his small stature get in the way of his big personality. He was quickly to his hooves, clucking his teeth at Echo. "Echo," he said in a smooth voice. "Be nice."
He turned his attention to the mare, and dipped his head, letting his long, silky mane spill over his face. "I apologize for her, if she was rude. She's uh.... protective."

She watched as the bunny moved away, and noticed the stallion approach. He was small, so small, that she was sure he was smaller than she. "Hi there. Oh, it's no problem. She had every right to be. I was the intruder."
She looked him over, noticing his beautiful wings and colors. "Your wings, they're gorgeous! I've always been facinated of peacocks. They are beautiful and majestic creatures. To meet a stallion who resembles one, why that's just magnificent." She admired his beauty, hoping she wasn't sounding completely creepy.

Quite the contrary, when the lady complimented his wings he broke out into a large, charming smile. "Why, thank you!" he crooned, flapping them slowly and letting them catch the light; the sun reflecting off the tiny little scales that covered the surface of his large butterfly-like wings. "They are quite fascinating, aren't they? Why, you kind of look like one yourself. Maybe, a peacock ice sculpture!"

She blushed at his comment. "Why, thank you. I've never thought about it that way, but I suppose you're right." She watched as the light danced across his wings, dazzled by their majesty.
"I'm Temperance, by the way," she said, breaking herself from the trance she had been in. "Forgive my manners, you're wings are a welcomed distraction." She giggled at her own comment. "I'd love to learn your name."

"Indeed, its quite a fetching look," he schmoozed, stepping a little closer to her. And your hair - that's lovely. Your flower looks so delicately carved! And I love that one blue feather in your mane! What a touch of inspiration!"
He chuckled to himself, "Ah, Temperance, what a lovely name. Doesn't it mean... you have exceptional self control? Does it fit?" He allowed himself a small smile; he loved to beguile the ladies.
"Ah, forgive my manners. My name is Narcissus."

"It's nice to meet you. You are quite a charmer, Narcissus. You're going to make me blush with all that flattery. And yes, I think it does mean that. I've never thought about it before."
She took a quick glance around the area. "So Narcissus, do you live nearby? This is a beautiful place."

He grinned. "Ah, Miss Temperance, the term flattery tends to imply that there's a note of untruth. I speak only the truth, so rest assured. But go ahead and blush, if you like, I think it would be quite adorable."
He looked around the wildflowers in the meadow and rolled his shoulders. "Oh, I just go wherever the warm wings take me. I left the Kawani lands for a while, and just got back fairly recently." He chuckled. "I'm older than I look, I assure you."

Smiling, she chuckled at him. "Oh I meant nothing by it. And now I really am blushing." Her cheeks grew warm as she spoke. "You know just what to say to a lady don't you?"
She imagined how old he might be. "That sounds like a wonderful adventure. Would you care to tell me about it? And I wouldn't imagine you to be very old, though I wouldn't know how to compare."

Indeed, Narcissus did pride himself on knowing exactly what to say to a lady. He wasn't exactly modest about his abilities to charm the females, and it perhaps had inflated his ego over the years. But, he never forced himself on any mare who didn't seem to want the attention, and he didn't ever plan on changing that. It was a game for him - melt even the coldest hearts, and if you were good enough you got one hell of a sweet reward.
"Well, when I was a much younger stallion my best friend and I would travel all over the Kawani lands. Just having fun; experiencing what life had to offer. But he eventually left to settled down, you know - found that special someone." Narci was very skeptical of "settling down" and never quite understood how his best friend could abandon him like that. But now wasn't a time for such melancholy thoughts. "I was a bit lonely, so I traveled further one. I will tell you this - the more things change the more things stay the same," he said with a sigh. "The scenery changes, but you see the same Soquili over and over again."
He used this opportunity to step closer. "Which is why meeting you as been such a breath of fresh air! I have never met a lady quite like you before."

She listened intently to his tale, her thoughts meandering with his story and her own. "Your story is so sad. You lost a great friend, but at the same time it was wonderful that he found love. Love is something that seems to evade some, and others can find it so easily." Her mind wandered as she spoke. She was one of those who had not found love in her life. Most of her life had been a lonely one, for she had been separated from her family during childhood, and only recently had she met a stallion that had turned out to be her brother.
"Loneliness is something I'm quite familiar with so I completely understand wanting to travel and find someone or something to break up the monotony of life. Your philosophy holds very true."
Sighing, she shook her head, freeing such thoughts from her mind and gave him a big smile. "Why, thank you, Narcissus. It has been very lovely meeting you as well." Her eyes met his and she was lost in the depths of them. Feeling a bit shy, she blinked and looked away, her cheeks feeling flush again.
